Side (Greek: Σίδη) is an ancient Greek city on the southern Mediterranean coast of Turkey, a resort town and one of the best-known classical sites in the country. It lies near Manavgat and the village of Selimiye, 78 km from Antalya in the province of Antalya.
It is located on the eastern part of the Pamphylian coast, which lies about 20 km east of the mouth of the Eurymedon River. Today, as in antiquity, the ancient city is situated on a small north-south peninsula about 1 km long and 400 m across.
Strabo and Arrian both record that Side was founded by Greek settlers from Cyme in Aeolis, a region of western Anatolia. This most likely occurred in the 7th century BC. Its tutelary deity was Athena, whose head adorned its coinage.
Dating from the tenth century B.C., its coinage bore the head of Athena (Minerva), the patroness of the city, with a legend. Its people, a piratical horde, quickly forgot their own language to adopt that of the aborigines.
Possessing a good harbour for small-craft boats, Side's natural geography made it one of the most important places in Pamphylia and one of the most important trade centres in the region. According to Arrian, when settlers from Cyme came to Side, they could not understand the dialect. After a short while, the influence of this indigenous tongue was so great that the newcomers forgot their native Greek and started using the language of Side. Excavations have revealed several inscriptions written in this language. The inscriptions, dating from the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC, remain undeciphered, but testify that the local language was still in use several centuries after colonisation. Another object found in the excavations at Side, a basalt column base from the 7th century BC and attributable to the Neo-Hittites, provides further evidence of the site's early history. The name Side may be Anatolian in origin, meaning pomegranate.
Kieran Hebden (born 1978), best known by the stage name Four Tet, is an English post-rock and electronic musician. Hebden first came to prominence as a member of the band Fridge before establishing himself as a solo artist.
Hebden's music originally eschewed the traditional pop song format in favour of a more abstract approach—his sound and melodies incorporate elements of hip hop, electronica, techno, jazz, grime and folk music with live instrumentation. His newer works are inspired heavily by house music.
Hebden has also remixed tracks by artists including Aphex Twin, Explosions in the Sky, Super Furry Animals, Radiohead, Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, Manic Street Preachers, Sia and Black Sabbath, and has produced two albums by psychedelic improvisational group Sunburned Hand of the Man. Hebden's recent output includes a number of improvisational works with jazz drummer Steve Reid and collaborations with Burial and Thom Yorke.
Kieran Hebden was born in London to a South African-born Indian mother and a British sociology lecturer father. He attended Elliott School in Putney, where he formed the band Fridge with classmates Adem Ilhan and Sam Jeffers. The band signed a recording contract when Hebden was 15, and released their first album, Ceefax, on Trevor Jackson's Output Recordings label in March 1997.

The Island of Hawai'i is also known as the Big Island. Green jungles, blue waves and red hot lava please the senses on this North Pacific island with its equally colorful Polynesian history. In part three of my travel video series from Maui, Hawaii, I start off the day by heading back up the side of Haleakala Volcano, then lunging my body of the side of the hillside (okay, I was paragliding). As I floated thousands of feet above ground, I was given a unique viewpoint of the island, and even lived to tell about it (and make this video). Next I head out onto the open water on a sailing outrigger canoe (a canoe with a lateral support on its side in traditional Polynesian fashion), and take to the water to go snorkeling, which included a couple sea turtle sightings. Last, I finish up the day with fish tacos at Coconut's (which, to this day, are probably some of the best fish tacos I've ever had), and shave ice for dessert, the classic Hawaii dessert consisting of shaved ice inu...

Thomas, who finished with 30 points, 10 assists and five steals, was named MVP in the East's 139-132 win. Down the stretch in the game, coach K.C. Try My Summer Car: http://store.steampowered.com/app/516750/ The key to recovering your lost vehicles is, above all else, life-saving beer. Try to memorize the map or make yourself a copy. If you know (or find out) where you left your vehicles, they can most likely be recovered, even if you don't have a vehicle to drive there and tow. Beer will prevent you from dying of dehydration before your return to safety, so plan to start your rescue trip carrying a full case. Plan on leaving in the morning and keep off roads and train tracks! One notable fact I observed: you can swim across the lake at approximately the speed of a boat. However, you can't carry objects and you will become thirsty, so I suggest using this method to either find the boat or to get to Parajarve to buy more beer. ...

Gennady “GGG” Golovkin took on Marco Antonio Rubio Saturday night and the Stub Hub Center in Carson California and it was business as usual for Golovkin. The Kazakh knockout machine extended his consecutive KO streak to 18 stopping Rubio in the second round. Golovkin was simply too much for Rubio from the opening bell. In the first round Golovkin was already landing power punches that had tremendous effect on Rubio. Many boxing fans were perhaps rightly more excited for the co-feature in the Barclay’s Center Saturday night than they were for the “Triple G” mismatch that followed, as the established Nonito Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) went up against the hungry up-and-coming star, Nicholas Walters (24-0, 20 KOs). Although this fight was looked upon as a 50/50 fight, there were still many who p...
If you’ve ever lived in the South, you know what Snowmageddon is. It’s when the weather person announces that there’s going to be X amount of snow in the next X days. That’s when southerners go insane and start buying gas, bread, milk and eggs like they won’t be able to get them for weeks and weeks ahead. It’s even better when they announce snow coming and you get nothing. Literally nothing. Well, that’s not fair. We got cold temperatures. But that’s it. Let us explain how this affects your business. We often talk about getting what you pay for. On the flip side of that, there’s expectations versus reality, where in a person buys something expecting one thing and getting another. Case in point, buying a new website. If you pay someone to build a website for you, but you don’t pay them ...
Original title: グラディウスII. Also known as Vulcan Venture in the West, although this is the Japanese version of the game. This video contains the first two loops. My proudest shmup-related achievement so far. I really wanted to give this game as much care and dedication as (realistically) possible, and this is the result. I want to address a few general strategies in the video descriptions as well as a short breakdown of each loop, it hopefully proves helpful! I thought long about the set-up I want to play with. While I knew from the start that I would want to pick Type 4 with the Force Field I was not nearly as certain regarding the amount of speed-ups and options. I used to play the game with two speed-ups for the longest time, but that setting is a bit insufficient for preemptively takin...
What Do You Say
Ballestrini/Barnes
Walking around in circles I don't know where we are
When I think we're getting close we're still so far apart
Let me just come out and tell you whats on my heart.
I was thinking maybe
You could call me baby
and we could run away, where the sunshines all the time
And when it goes down,
You and I could slow down
Long enough to steal a kiss or two,
In the dark just me and you
let the moon light light the way...
Now baby what do you say
When I close my eyes and dream, you're there when I wake up
I have a feeling, that this feeling could be love
this is what'd I'd say, someday, if I get the courage up...
I was thinking maybe
You could call me baby
and we could run away, where the sunshines all the time
And when it goes down,
You and I could slow down
Long enough to steal a kiss or two,
In the dark just me and you
let the moon light light the way...
Now baby what do you say
What do you say to someone, who means the world to you
What do you say to the right one, which words do you choose.
