Cyprinidae is a large family of freshwater fishes that comprises the carps, the true minnows, and their relatives (for example, the barbs and barbels). Commonly called the carp family or the minnow family, its members are also known as cyprinids. It is the largest fish family and the largest family of vertebrate animals in general, with over 2,400 species in about 220 genera. The family belongs to the order Cypriniformes, of whose genera and species the cyprinids make up two-thirds. The family name is derived from the Ancient Greek kyprînos (κυπρῖνος, "carp"),
Cyprinids are stomachless fish with toothless jaws. Even so, food can be effectively chewed by the gill rakers of the specialized last gill bow. These pharyngeal teeth allow the fish to make chewing motions against a chewing plate formed by a procession of the skull. The pharyngheal teeth are species specific and are used by specialists to determine the species. Strong pharyncheal teeth allow fish like the common carp and ide to eat hard baits like snails and bivalves.
I want to reach out
And touch the sky
I want to touch the sun
But I don't need to fly
I'm gonna climb up
every mountain on the moon
And find the dish
that ran away with the spoon
I've crossed the ocean, turned every bend
I found the crossing and the golden rainbow's end
I've been through magic and through life's reality
I've lived a thousand years - it never bothered me
Got no religion
Don't need no friends
Got all I want
And I don't need to pretend
Don't try to reach me
'Cause I'll tear out your mind
I've seen the future
