Tibet is a relatively little known and mysterious land of snow high up in the Himalayas that borders Nepal, Bhutan ad India. It is protected by the highest mountains in the world and is a region that has developed a unique society whose philosophy, art and religious faith have earned much interest and respect.Lhasa is the capital of Tibet and also its largest city. The Barkhor Road extends for eight hundred metres around the Jokhang Temple and nearby Tsuklakhang Square. For the faithful a visit to the Jokhang Temple is the highlight of a long and arduous pilgrimage and the Dalai Lama once sat in its inner courtyard during the monks’ annual final examination, which was also a splendid festive event. On the other side of the Chakpori, a small mountain opposite Potala, is the seldom visited Sang Gya Thong Ku Temple that is somewhat hidden away and therefore off the tourist trail. This ‘temple of a thousand images of god’ is nevertheless very popular among devout Buddhists and is a place of silent prayer. The Yarlung Valley is full of history such as possessing the oldest field in Tibet, as well as the oldest village that is located at the foot of the country’s oldest fortress, Yom Bu La Khang, the rock palace of the country’s first mystic king. One of the largest monuments in Tibetan architecture is the unique Kumbum Chörten, a three-dimensional mandala that can be entered. Eyes decorate the upper part of the Stupa. The ritual walkabout begins on the lowest level with simple deities then follows the entire Pantheon of Tibet, immortalised in both sculptures and wall paintings. Despite Chinese influence, Tibet is still a religiously devout country with a fascinating monastery culture and amazing natural scenery. Tashi Delek! Why is Tibet Important to China:
Before 1959, the present area of the Tibet Autonomous Region was governed by the government of Tibet (headed by the Dalai Lama). But, today, Tibet is part of China. Tibet is the second-largest province of China by area. The Communist government of China believe that Tibet is their territory and "reclaimed" at the end of its civil war. Here is several reason why Tibet is important to China.
First, Tibet's strategic significant of China's geopolitical. As we know, Tibet serving as a buffer region between China and India. Control of Tibet gave China a boundary with Pakistan, and access to the Arabian Sea. Tibet would also have threatened Beijing's access to Xinjiang. Tibet is a vital link between China, south and central Asia.
Second, Tibet's natural energy resources. According to the Ministry of Water Resources and the China State Power Group, The Tibet has 448.2 billion cubic meters of water. Tibet producing approximately 200 million kw of natural hydro energy annually, or about 30 percent of China's total. Tibet also rich in geothermal, solar and wind energy. More than 100 sites in Tibet have good geothermal energy reserves.
Third, Tibet's mineral resources. Since 1999, Chinese geologists have discovered more than 600 new sites of copper, iron, lead and zinc ore deposits on Tibet. 11 mineral reserves including chromium, iron, lithium, copper and boron rank first-fifth in China. China ships its own experts and workers to Tibet to remove these resources. The China-Tibet railroad is allowing for faster extraction of iron, copper, natural gas, and oil from Tibet.
Fourth, forestry in Tibet. Tibet has one of the oldest forest reserves in central Asia. As we know, southern, eastern and southeastern parts of Tibet have alpine, temperate,sub-tropical and even tropical forests. With forest coverage stands at 9.8% of the area, Tibet being one of China's biggest forest areas. Tibet has one of the greatest resources of the economic plants in use of making fabrics, spices, food and paper, etc.
Fifth, Tibet's tourism. Tourism in Tibet is a large part of China's business interest here. Tibet is home to the Buddhist and the area is picturesque and old. Thats why, Tibet is interesting for tourist. In recent years Tibet's tourism has expanded rapidly, especially after the finish of Qingzang Railway in July 2006. Unfortunately, spirituality, now, mixes with commercialism in Tibet. Usually, young monks running up to tourist, and asking for money.
Ironically, according to a new UN report on the quality of life of the Tibetan people indicates that Tibetans are virtually at the bottom of the economic and social ladder. Most of the economic benefits from Tibet go to migrant Han Chinese. Tibet still remains one of China's poorest spots.

Tibet Autonomous Region
The Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) or Xizang Autonomous Region, called Tibet or Xizang (Tibetan: བོད་ ; Chinese: 西藏; pinyin: Xīzàng) for short, is a province-level autonomous region of the People's Republic of China (PRC). It was created in 1965 on the basis of Tibet's incorporation by the PRC in 1951.
Within China, Tibet is identified as an Autonomous Region. The current borders of Tibet were generally established in the 18th century and include about half of ethno-cultural Tibet. The Tibet Autonomous Region is the second-largest province-level division of China by area, spanning over 1,200,000 square kilometres (460,000 sq mi), after Xinjiang, and mostly due to its harsh and rugged terrain, is the least densely populated provincial-level division of the PRC.
History
Modern scholars still debate on the exact nature of relations between Tibet and the Chinese Ming dynasty (1368–1644) and whether the Ming had sovereignty over Tibet after the Mongol conquest of Tibet and Yuan administrative rule in the 13th and 14th centuries. While Tibet has formally been a protectorate of China and under administrative rule of the Qing dynasty (1644–1912) since 1720, from 1912 to 1950 Tibet was dissolved of suzerainty under China proper as a result of the Xinhai Revolution and concentration of the central government fighting against the Japanese invasion during World War II. Other parts of ethno-cultural Tibet (eastern Kham and Amdo) have also been under the administration of the Chinese dynastic government since the mid-eighteenth century; today they are distributed among the provinces of Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and Yunnan. Why is Tibet Important to China: Before 1959, the present area of the Tibet Autonomous Region was governed by the government of Tibet (headed by the Dalai Lama). But, today, Tibet is part of China. Tibet is the second-largest province of China by area. The Communist government of China believe that Tibet is their territory and "reclaimed" at the end of its civil war. Here is several reason why Tibet is important to China. First, Tibet's strategic significant of China's geopolitical. As we know, Tibet serving as a buffer region between China and India. Control of Tibet gave China a boundary with Pakistan, and access to the Arabian Sea. Tibet would also have threatened Beijing's access to Xinjiang. Tibet is a vital link between China, south and central Asia. Second, Tibet's natural energy resources. According to the Ministry of Water Resources and the China State Power Group, The Tibet has 448.2 billion cubic meters of water. Tibet producing approximately 200 million kw of natural hydro energy annually, or about 30 percent of China's total. Tibet also rich in geothermal, solar and wind energy. More than 100 sites in Tibet have good geothermal energy reserves. Third, Tibet's mineral resources. Since 1999, Chinese geologists have discovered more than 600 new sites of copper, iron, lead and zinc ore deposits on Tibet. 11 mineral reserves including chromium, iron, lithium, copper and boron rank first-fifth in China. China ships its own experts and workers to Tibet to remove these resources. The China-Tibet railroad is allowing for faster extraction of iron, copper, natural gas, and oil from Tibet. Fourth, forestry in Tibet. Tibet has one of the oldest forest reserves in central Asia. As we know, southern, eastern and southeastern parts of Tibet have alpine, temperate,sub-tropical and even tropical forests. With forest coverage stands at 9.8% of the area, Tibet being one of China's biggest forest areas. Tibet has one of the greatest resources of the economic plants in use of making fabrics, spices, food and paper, etc. Fifth, Tibet's tourism. Tourism in Tibet is a large part of China's business interest here. Tibet is home to the Buddhist and the area is picturesque and old. Thats why, Tibet is interesting for tourist. In recent years Tibet's tourism has expanded rapidly, especially after the finish of Qingzang Railway in July 2006. Unfortunately, spirituality, now, mixes with commercialism in Tibet. The Barkhor Road extends for eight hundred metres around the Jokhang Temple and nearby Tsuklakhang Square. For the faithful a visit to the Jokhang Temple is the highlight of a long and arduous pilgrimage and the Dalai Lama once sat in its inner courtyard during the monks’ annual final examination, which was also a splendid festive event. On the other side of the Chakpori, a small mountain opposite Potala, is the seldom visited Sang Gya Thong Ku Temple that is somewhat hidden away and therefore off the tourist trail. This ‘temple of a thousand images of god’ is nevertheless very popular among devout Buddhists and is a place of silent prayer. The Yarlung Valley is full of history such as possessing the oldest field in Tibet, as well as the oldest village that is located at the foot of the country’s oldest fortress, Yom Bu La Khang, the rock palace of the country’s first mystic king. One of the largest monuments in Tibetan architecture is the unique Kumbum Chörten, a three-dimensional mandala that can be entered. Eyes decorate the upper part of the Stupa. The ritual walkabout begins on the lowest level with simple deities then follows the entire Pantheon of Tibet, immortalised in both sculptures and wall paintings. Despite Chinese influence, Tibet is still a religiously devout country with a fascinating monastery culture and amazing natural scenery. Tashi Delek! Why is Tibet Important to China:
Before 1959, the present area of the Tibet Autonomous Region was governed by the government of Tibet (headed by the Dalai Lama). But, today, Tibet is part of China. Tibet is the second-largest province of China by area. The Communist government of China believe that Tibet is their territory and "reclaimed" at the end of its civil war. Here is several reason why Tibet is important to China.
First, Tibet's strategic significant of China's geopolitical. As we know, Tibet serving as a buffer region between China and India. Control of Tibet gave China a boundary with Pakistan, and access to the Arabian Sea. Tibet would also have threatened Beijing's access to Xinjiang. Tibet is a vital link between China, south and central Asia.
Second, Tibet's natural energy resources. According to the Ministry of Water Resources and the China State Power Group, The Tibet has 448.2 billion cubic meters of water. Tibet producing approximately 200 million kw of natural hydro energy annually, or about 30 percent of China's total. Tibet also rich in geothermal, solar and wind energy. More than 100 sites in Tibet have good geothermal energy reserves.
Third, Tibet's mineral resources. Since 1999, Chinese geologists have discovered more than 600 new sites of copper, iron, lead and zinc ore deposits on Tibet. 11 mineral reserves including chromium, iron, lithium, copper and boron rank first-fifth in China. China ships its own experts and workers to Tibet to remove these resources. The China-Tibet railroad is allowing for faster extraction of iron, copper, natural gas, and oil from Tibet.
Fourth, forestry in Tibet. Tibet has one of the oldest forest reserves in central Asia. As we know, southern, eastern and southeastern parts of Tibet have alpine, temperate,sub-tropical and even tropical forests. With forest coverage stands at 9.8% of the area, Tibet being one of China's biggest forest areas. Tibet has one of the greatest resources of the economic plants in use of making fabrics, spices, food and paper, etc.
Fifth, Tibet's tourism. Tourism in Tibet is a large part of China's business interest here. Tibet is home to the Buddhist and the area is picturesque and old. Thats why, Tibet is interesting for tourist. In recent years Tibet's tourism has expanded rapidly, especially after the finish of Qingzang Railway in July 2006. Unfortunately, spirituality, now, mixes with commercialism in Tibet. Usually, young monks running up to tourist, and asking for money.
Ironically, according to a new UN report on the quality of life of the Tibetan people indicates that Tibetans are virtually at the bottom of the economic and social ladder. Most of the economic benefits from Tibet go to migrant Han Chinese. Tibet still remains one of China's poorest spots.
