Liz Carroll (born September 19, 1956) is an Irish American fiddler and composer. She is a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts' National Heritage Fellowship Award. Carroll and collaborator Irish guitarist John Doyle were nominated for a Grammy Award in 2010. Carroll is considered one of the greatest contemporary Irish fiddlers.
Carroll's parents were born in Ireland; her father from Brocca, County Offaly, and her mother from Ballyhahill, West Limerick. Carroll's maternal grandfather played the violin and her father played button accordion. Carroll was born September 19, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois and raised on Chicago's south side. On Sunday nights, Carroll and her family visited a south side Irish pub that hosted a live radio show featuring Irish traditional music. Carroll earned a degree in social psychology at DePaul University. Carroll's influences include Chicago-born Irish fiddler John McGreevy, Irish button accordionist Joe Cooley, Irish fiddler Sean McGuire, 1983 National Heritage Award-winning uilleann piper Joe Shannon, and pianist Eleanor Neary.

Celtic Colours International Festival is a Celtic music festival held annually in October in communities all over Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada. First held in 1997, the festival has featured hundreds of musicians from all over the Celtic world and attracted tens of thousands of visitors to Cape Breton Island. For nine days in October, Cape Breton Island is home to a unique celebration of music and culture as the Celtic Colours International Festival presents dozens of concerts all over the island, an extensive line-up of workshops, a visual art series of exhibitions, and a nightly Festival Club. Over the years, artists have traveled from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, England, Brittany, Spain, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Cuba and Sweden as well as from across the United States and Canada to join the finest of Cape Breton's musicians, singers, dancers, storytellers and tradition-bearers for the annual Autumn celebration.
One of the things that set Celtic Colours apart from the vast majority of festivals taking place around the globe is that it isn't limited to just one location. Communities around Cape Breton Island host concerts and workshops at a time when the fall leaves are at their most brilliant, and traveling around the island provides many scenic views. These communities are the places where the culture has been nurtured for over 200 years providing context for the roots of the music and celebrating each community's contribution to Celtic culture.

Today on the BiggerPockets Podcast, Josh and Brandon talk with Kevin Carroll, a real estate investor who decided 18 months ago that he wanted to start flipping houses… and has done 83 flips in the past year and a half! Perhaps most impressively, Kevin did most of these flips out of state utilizing strategic partnerships — a strategy that just might change the way you think about real estate forever. Sit back and prepare to have your mindset expanded and let “big thinking” take over.
