A travel guide for visiting Sentosa Island in Singapore. Sentosa Island is home to Singapore's largest concentration of amusement attractions including Beaches, Casinos, Skyline Luge Sentosa, and even a Zipline! This travel guide shows how to get to Sentosa Island via Cable Car, Monorail, or walking, and then highlights the attractions on Sentosa.
This is what you can do in a day in Singapore: Visit Sentosa in the morning. Sentosa is an island that contains man made beaches and lots of family fun activities. It's easily worth half a day or maybe a full day if you go to Universal Studios. Getting there from the city center is quite easy as it's connected easily through Singapore's public transportation services. While there, be sure to eat some delicious coconut ice cream- perfect for the hot and humid days in Singapore. Then, catch some lunch at any of the city state's fabulous food courts. Check out Clark Quay before dark so you can take a river boat tour to see the skyscrapers and the Merlion from a different vantage point. You might also learn a little history too. Then, sip some drinks while people watching to enjoy Clark Quay at night. It's really charming and quaint when the sun sets. For dinner, check out some dim sum on Jalan Besar road or any other place in Singapore. I promise you'll love it.

Sentosa Island Singapore has three main beaches. Tanjong Beach, Palawan Beach and Siloso Beach. It's a great Singapore Beach resort island with lot's of fun things to do. Sentosa Singapore is a great place to relax and have fun. With indoor skydiving, the Sentosa Luge, Tanjong Beach Club, Surfing and many more adventurous activities as well as relaxing by the beach.

The city-state in Southeast Asia consists of the island of Singapore and about 54 smaller islands. The mai nisland is linked by a causeway to the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula.
Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is situated 137 km (85 mi) north of the equator, and just south of Peninsular Malaysia. In south the Strait of Singapore separates the island from the Riau Archipelago of Indonesia.
Singapore occupies an area of 718 km², compared, it is slightly larger then one fourth of Luxembourg or also slightly larger than 3.5 times the size of the District of Columbia, Washington, DC.

Sentosa
Sentosa (Sanskrit: संतोष; Chinese: 圣淘沙) is a popular island resort in Singapore, visited by some twenty million people a year. Attractions include a 2 km (1.2 mi) long sheltered beach, Fort Siloso, two golf courses, the Merlion, 14 hotels, and the Resorts World Sentosa, featuring the theme park Universal Studios Singapore.
Etymology
The name Sentosa translates as "peace and tranquility" in Malay, which was in turn derived from संतोष (Santosha) in Sanskrit. Sentosa was once known as Pulau Belakang Mati (Chinese: 绝后岛), which in Malay means the "Island (pulau) of Death (mati) from Behind (belakang)".
The name Blakang Mati is rather old but may not have been founded in the nineteenth century as generally believed. In fact, there exists an island that was identified as Blacan Mati in Manuel Gomes de Erédia's 1604 map of Singapore. Other early references to the island of Blakang Mati include Burne Beard Island in Wilde's 1780 MS map, Pulau Niry, Nirifa from 1690 to 1700, and the nineteenth century reference as Pulau Panjang (J.H. Moor). However, early maps did not separate Blakang Mati from the adjacent island of Pulau Brani, so it is uncertain to which island the sixteenth century place names referred.

This is what you can do in a day in Singapore: Visit Sentosa in the morning. Sentosa is an island that contains man made beaches and lots of family fun activities. It's easily worth half a day or maybe a full day if you go to Universal Studios. Getting there from the city center is quite easy as it's connected easily through Singapore's public transportation services. While there, be sure to eat some delicious coconut ice cream- perfect for the hot and humid days in Singapore. Then, catch some lunch at any of the city state's fabulous food courts. Check out Clark Quay before dark so you can take a river boat tour to see the skyscrapers and the Merlion from a different vantage point. You might also learn a little history too. Then, sip some drinks while people watching to enjoy Clark Quay at night. It's really charming and quaint when the sun sets. For dinner, check out some dim sum on Jalan Besar road or any other place in Singapore. I promise you'll love it.
