The Musical Arts Conference or MAC is a local circuit for marching band competitions, based in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. The conference was formed in 2001. Band class is arranged by the total number of instrumentalists (band proper, pit and percussion) and drum majors. The color guard is not included in the total number of performers (only for classification purposes). The smallest bands are assigned to Class 1 and the largest bands are assigned to Class 5, with a rubric to determine each class size.
In addition to marching band, MAC also hosts winter guard and winter percussion competitions. There are several classifications in both guard and percussion, which is broken up by the ability and talent of the units, and not by size.

Doug Stauber (Seann William Scott) is the assistant manager of a branch of Donaldson's, a supermarket chain in Chicago. He believes that he is a "shoo-in" for manager of a Donaldson's that is scheduled for construction just a few blocks away from his home. Everyday, Doug deals with the pressures of being the assistant manager. Among his ordeals are an unruly gang of teenagers loitering around the parking lot, the overwhelming amount of negative comments on the customer survey cards he collects (nearly all of which are caused by the gang's antics), a foreigner who constantly slaps him over a box of Teddy Grahams and the rumors about him being a former Junior Olympics medalist in gymnastics. Then one day, Richard Wehlner (John C. Reilly) and his family move in from Quebec, and he becomes assistant manager alongside Doug.

Morocco has long been a nexus point between east and west, drawing upon an inherently international position in world history and its own ethnic diversity (including Arab, Jewish, and Berber traditions) for creative musical inspirations. In recent generations, as Moroccans have immigrated in large numbers to North America, Europe, and Israel, they have brought their unique brand of music multiculturalism with them. Speaker Biography: Samuel Torjman Thomas is ethnomusicologist and artistic director of Asefa Music and the New York Andalus Ensemble.
