Hook Ya Crook is an unreleased Bollywood comedy drama film, which was to be directed by David Dhawan and starred John Abraham and Genelia D'souza in the lead roles. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and written by Rensil D'Silva, the award-winning writer of Rang De Basanti, the film was shelved due to too many delays and postponements.
The film was to be an adaption of the 2005 Hollywood hit, The Longest Yard.
Hook Ya Crook was to focus on an ex-cricket player, Viraj Phadan (John Abraham), who after having an argument with his wife, attacks her in an drunk-stage. He then gets arrested, and is taking to Juvee, where the Jail-Intendor offers Viraj a chance to flee from the prison, with no-one stopping him, on one condition, he has to form a Cricket team with all the prisoners joining.
Hook Ya Crook is a thriller involving comedy and cricket. Filming began in Mumbai and Hyderabad, India in 23 January 2009. During the latter part of January 2009, John Abraham fractured his ankle while sliding down a twenty-foot pole. Due to his injury, several scenes had to be postponed and the film's release date was pushed back. In September 2011, before the release of Abraham's Force, he announced that Hook Ya Crook has been shelved, it will not release and therefore he will focus on his next projects.
