Nazm is a form of Urdu poetry that is often used to write about one singular subject in a regular or free rhyme scheme as per the demand of the subject and wish of the poet. Unlike the Ghazal, which comprises of several self contained and independent couplets, expressing various thoughts and feelings in the same metre or rhyme scheme, the Nazm is not bound by any such compulsion. The flee-verse poem called "Azad Nazm" is a modern variation, having the freedom to use lines without rhyme of unequal length in the same poem, or even in the same stanza. The poet thus empowers his words to sound more intense and bring them as close as possible to the intonation and rhythms of natural speech. However, an inner rhythm with an understanding of the obligatory metre keeps it within the ambit of poetry, which brings about a charming musicality to this form of Urdu verse.

We grew with Mowgli in the 80s singing the cult song 'Jungle jungle pata chala hain...' which was an embodiment of the free spirit of a child. Now our kids are growing up singing the new version of the 'Jungle Book ' song which is equally good if not better. The only disappointment was that the recently released Jungle Book film didn't include this song So I ask one of my film-maker friend to make a video of this new song with our neighbourhood kids, and this is what we got. It is an offering of our love, thanks and tribute to the great lyricist Gulzar Sahab and music composer Vishal Bharadwaj Ji

He started his career as a lyricist in the 1963 film Bandini and worked with many music directors including R. D. Burman, Salil Choudhury, Vishal Bhardwaj and A. R. Rahman. He directed films such as Aandhi and Mausam and TV series during the 1970s and 1980s. He also directed Kirdaar in 1993. Gulzar also wrote poetry, dialogues and scripts. Early life
Gulzar was born in a Kalra Arora Sikh family, to Makhan Singh Kalra and Sujan Kaur, in Dina, Jhelum District, British India (now in Pakistan). Before becoming a writer, Sampooran took up lot of small jobs in Mumbai one of them was in a garage where he used to touch up accident cars by creating shades of paint, in his own words "I had a knack for colors". His father rebuked him for being writer initially. He took the pen name Gulzar Deenvi and later simply Gulzar.

Anupam Kher
Anupam Kher (born 7 March 1955) is an Indian actor who has appeared in several hundred films and many plays. Mainly working in Hindi films, he has also appeared in acclaimed international films such as the 2002 Golden Globe nominated Bend It Like Beckham, Ang Lee's 2007 Golden Lion winning Lust, Caution, and David O. Russell's 2013 Oscar winning Silver Linings Playbook. Kher has won the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comic Role five times. For his performance in film Vijay he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
He has held the post of chairman of Central Board of Film Certification and National School of Drama in India. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for his contribution in the field of cinema and arts.
His wife, actress Kirron Kher is a Member of the Indian Parliament from Chandigarh.
Early life
Kher was born on 7 March 1955 in Shimla. His father was a clerk and he had a modest upbringing. He received education at D.A.V. School in Shimla. In his struggling days as an actor in Mumbai he used to sleep on the railway platform before he found fame and fortune in films. He is an alumnus and a former chairperson of the National School of Drama. Some of his early acting roles were in plays performed at the Himachal Pradesh University.

Unlike the Ghazal, which comprises of several self contained and independent couplets, expressing various thoughts and feelings in the same metre or rhyme scheme, the Nazm is not bound by any such compulsion. The flee-verse poem called "Azad Nazm" is a modern variation, having the freedom to use lines without rhyme of unequal length in the same poem, or even in the same stanza. The poet thus empowers his words to sound more intense and bring them as close as possible to the intonation and rhythms of natural speech. However, an inner rhythm with an understanding of the obligatory metre keeps it within the ambit of poetry, which brings about a charming musicality to this form of Urdu verse. We grew with Mowgli in the 80s singing the cult song 'Jungle jungle pata chala hain...' which was an embodiment of the free spirit of a child. Now our kids are growing up singing the new version of the 'Jungle Book ' song which is equally good if not better. The only disappointment was that the recently released Jungle Book film didn't include this song So I ask one of my film-maker friend to make a video of this new song with our neighbourhood kids, and this is what we got. Nazm is a form of Urdu poetry that is often used to write about one singular subject in a regular or free rhyme scheme as per the demand of the subject and wish of the poet. Unlike the Ghazal, which comprises of several self contained and independent couplets, expressing various thoughts and feelings in the same metre or rhyme scheme, the Nazm is not bound by any such compulsion. The flee-verse poem called "Azad Nazm" is a modern variation, having the freedom to use lines without rhyme of unequal length in the same poem, or even in the same stanza. The poet thus empowers his words to sound more intense and bring them as close as possible to the intonation and rhythms of natural speech. However, an inner rhythm with an understanding of the obligatory metre keeps it within the ambit of poetry, which brings about a charming musicality to this form of Urdu verse.

We grew with Mowgli in the 80s singing the cult song 'Jungle jungle pata chala hain...' which was an embodiment of the free spirit of a child. Now our kids are growing up singing the new version of the 'Jungle Book ' song which is equally good if not better. The only disappointment was that the recently released Jungle Book film didn't include this song So I ask one of my film-maker friend to make a video of this new song with our neighbourhood kids, and this is what we got. It is an offering of our love, thanks and tribute to the great lyricist Gulzar Sahab and music composer Vishal Bharadwaj Ji

One hour special episode of Guftagoo with renowned lyricist Gulzar. Born in Deena (Now in Pakistan) on 18th August, 1934, Gulzar came to Delhi after the partition. He thereafter began his film career as an assistant to Bimal Roy. He also worked with Hrishikesh Mukherjee in the beginning of his career. He started writing songs for films with Bimal Da's Bandini. Mora Gora Ang Layee Le is supposed to be his first song. Although his first film to be released was Kabuli Wala, which also had some all time greats like Ganga aaye kahan se. Bandini and Kabuliwala were followed by Sannata, Biwi aur Makan, Do Dooni Chaar and most notable of all Khamoshi and various others during 60's. Gulzar has also been awarded with the coveted Oscar for Best Song with Music Director A R Rahman for the song Jai Ho! of Slumdog Millionaire.
