On Thursday, February 4th, 2016, the Toronto Police Service was pleased to host a graduation ceremony for 44 new police recruits at the Toronto Police College.
In this video, members of Recruit Class 15-03 and senior Command officers discuss what makes a good police officer, and reflect on the role of community service in policing, as well as their skills, training, and competencies, and the pride they hold in the uniform.
Toronto Police Recruit Graduation Class 15-03 is representative of Toronto’s diverse cultural community and brings a superior level of varied knowledge and abilities to the Service, including language skills, previous military or policing experience and post-secondary education.
The class is comprised of 47.7% women, the highest-ever percentage of female recruits for the Service, and 34.1% visible minority members. A total of 93.2% successfully completed post-secondary education and 40.9% have previous military or policing experience. A total of 70.5% of the class speak a language other than English, including Afrikaans, American Sign Language, Arabic, Bengali, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Creole, Croatian, Filipino, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Hungarian, Japanese, Korean, Macedonian, Mandarin, Patois, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Slovak, Spanish, Thai, Twi and Ukrainian. Of the 31 new recruits who speak a second language, 36.4% speak two or more languages other than English.

This 2014 video isn't core to OpCat, but I wanted to post it in relation to the currently ongoing Sammy Yatim murder trial (http://bit.ly/21x9nHc).
This trial involves a crazed youth who wielded a knife on a TTC streetcar, which was eventually emptied, but ended with the youth being killed…shot eight times…by one police constable.
My video also involves a manic person on a TTC streetcar, where the event escalated into violence once the Toronto Police arrived (and begin pushing and punching). It was taken the day of the 2014 FIFA World Cup win for Germany, where noisy fans gathered to celebrate at Yonge & Dundas Streets, Toronto.
In support/defense of the TTC/Toronto Police involved, the woman was visibly crazed, and should have just left the streetcar when the driver ordered her to, instead of standing there defiantly for minutes. All she had to do was wait for another streetcar.
Likewise, drugs were found in Sammy Yatim's system upon autopsy, and there would have been little reasoning with him in that condition. One wonders why bulletproof-vested police wouldn't fire wounding shots, or risk a knife wound themselves, instead of firing kill shots to disarm someone with only a knife.
This question was answered by Constable Forcillo, who killed Sammy Yatim, when he stated that Toronto Police are, "trained to win." (http://on.thestar.com/1Q779Jg)

The LSPD First Response Modification (LSPDFR) is a police simulation modification (mod) for the PC version of Grand
Theft Auto V which transforms the game into a law enforcement simulation where you can conduct traffic stops, engage
in high speed pursuits, respond to callouts and enforce the law as you see fit.
The following are required to run the LCPDFR Modification:
• A genuine, working Microsoft Windows (PC) platform copy of Grand Theft Auto V.
• The RAGE Plugin Hook for GTA V, and its dependencies (all of which are included).
• Version 4.5 of Microsoft’s .Net Framework
LSPDFR heavily modifies the game far beyond its original purpose or scope. As such, it can conflict with the game
and cause occasional failures and errors. Such errors will not have any lasting effect on the modification or the game,
however they may result in crashes, freezes or the current session becoming unplayable. Note that LSPDFR does
not currently support any form of multiplayer gameplay.
The first public release of LSPDFR lays down a basic framework upon which the modification will be developed. Still,
it contains a number of interesting features - many of which will be easily recognizable by anyone who played its sister
modification, LCPDFR for GTA IV.

Rodrigo was seriously injured by Toronto Police Service (TPS) officers on November 6, 2015. He died the following day in hospital.
The TPS did not secure the scene and the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) did not show up at the apartment where he was injured until almost 4 days later. The SIU only put out a media release yesterday - until that time no government agency had acknowledged the injuries cause by police or the death. Makes me wonder how many other people are killed by police and the public is not informed?
This appears to be another sad situation where people reach out to the police for help, and instead of providing for safety and security, the police kill someone.

The Emergency Task Force (ETF) is the tactical unit of the Toronto Police Service that is mandated to deal with high risk situations like hostage taking, emotionally disturbed persons, high risk arrests, warrant service and protection details. The ETF is a fully-manned 24/7 tactical response team, and was created in 1965.The unit currently comprises 82 officers from all units who are tactically trained in a variety of special skills, weapons, and tactics.

The Toronto Police Service (TPS), formerly the Metropolitan Toronto Police, is the police service for the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is the largest municipal police service in Canada and second largest police force in Canada after the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).[citation needed] At a budget of almost $1 billion it ranks second only to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) in city budgetary expense.
The Toronto Police Service was founded in 1834 when the city of Toronto was first created from the town of York. The Toronto Police is one of the English-speaking world’s oldest modern municipal police departments; older than, for example, the legendary New York City Police Department which was formed in 1845 or the Boston Police Department which was established in 1839. The London Metropolitan Police of 1829 is generally recognized as the first modern municipal department. Toronto (/təˈrɒntoʊ/, colloquially /ˈtrɒnoʊ/) is the largest city in Canada and the provincial capital of Ontario. It is located in Southern Ontario on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. Rodrigo was seriously injured by Toronto Police Service (TPS) officers on November 6, 2015. He died the following day in hospital. The TPS did not secure the scene and the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) did not show up at the apartment where he was injured until almost 4 days later. The SIU only put out a media release yesterday - until that time no government agency had acknowledged the injuries cause by police or the death. Makes me wonder how many other people are killed by police and the public is not informed? This appears to be another sad situation where people reach out to the police for help, and instead of providing for safety and security, the police kill someone. The Emergency Task Force (ETF) is the tactical unit of the Toronto Police Service that is mandated to deal with high risk situations like hostage taking, emotionally disturbed persons, high risk arrests, warrant service and protection details. The ETF is a fully-manned 24/7 tactical response team, and was created in 1965.The unit currently comprises 82 officers from all units who are tactically trained in a variety of special skills, weapons, and tactics. This trial involves a crazed youth who wielded a knife on a TTC streetcar, which was eventually emptied, but ended with the youth being killed…shot eight times…by one police constable. Toronto Police Recruit Graduation Class 15-03 is representative of Toronto’s diverse cultural community and brings a superior level of varied knowledge and abilities to the Service, including language skills, previous military or policing experience and post-secondary education.
The class is comprised of 47.7% women, the highest-ever percentage of female recruits for the Service, and 34.1% visible minority members. A total of 93.2% successfully completed post-secondary education and 40.9% have previous military or policing experience. This 2014 video isn't core to OpCat, but I wanted to post it in relation to the currently ongoing Sammy Yatim murder trial (http://bit.ly/21x9nHc).
This trial involves a crazed youth who wielded a knife on a TTC streetcar, which was eventually emptied, but ended with the youth being killed…shot eight times…by one police constable.
My video also involves a manic person on a TTC streetcar, where the event escalated into violence once the Toronto Police arrived (and begin pushing and punching). It was taken the day of the 2014 FIFA World Cup win for Germany, where noisy fans gathered to celebrate at Yonge & Dundas Streets, Toronto.
In support/defense of the TTC/Toronto Police involved, the woman was visibly crazed, and should have just left the streetcar when the driver ordered her to, instead of standing there defiantly for minutes. All she had to do was wait for another streetcar.
Likewise, drugs were found in Sammy Yatim's system upon autopsy, and there would have been little reasoning with him in that condition. One wonders why bulletproof-vested police wouldn't fire wounding shots, or risk a knife wound themselves, instead of firing kill shots to disarm someone with only a knife.
This question was answered by Constable Forcillo, who killed Sammy Yatim, when he stated that Toronto Police are, "trained to win." (http://on.thestar.com/1Q779Jg)

Theft Auto V which transforms the game into a law enforcement simulation where you can conduct traffic stops, engage

• A genuine, working Microsoft Windows (PC) platform copy of Grand Theft Auto V.
• The RAGE Plugin Hook for GTA V, and its dependencies (all of which are included).
• Version 4.5 of Microsoft’s .Net Framework
LSPDFR heavily modifies the game far beyond its original purpose or scope. As such, it can conflict with the game
and cause occasional failures and errors. Such errors will not have any lasting effect on the modification or the game,
however they may result in crashes, freezes or the current session becoming unplayable. Note that LSPDFR does
not currently support any form of multiplayer gameplay.
The first public release of LSPDFR lays down a basic framework upon which the modification will be developed. Still,
it contains a number of interesting features - many of which will be easily recognizable by anyone who played its sister

Toronto Police Kill Rodrigo Hector Almonacid Gonzalez

Rodrigo was seriously injured by Toronto Police Service (TPS) officers on November 6, 2015. He died the following day in hospital.
The TPS did not secure the scene and the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) did not show up at the apartment where he was injured until almost 4 days later. The SIU only put out a media release yesterday - until that time no government agency had acknowledged the injuries cause by police or the death. Makes me wonder how many other people are killed by police and the public is not informed?
This appears to be another sad situation where people reach out to the police for help, and instead of providing for safety and security, the police kill someone.

The LSPD First Response Modification (LSPDFR) is a police simulation modification (mod) for the PC version of Grand
Theft Auto V which transforms the game into a law enforcement simulation where you can conduct traffic stops, engage
in high speed pursuits, respond to callouts and enforce the law as you see fit.
The following are required to run the LCPDFR Modification:
• A genuine, working Microsoft Windows (PC) platform copy of Grand Theft Auto V.
• The RAGE Plugin Hook for GTA V, and its dependencies (all of which are included).
• Version 4.5 of Microsoft’s .Net Framework
LSPDFR heavily modifies the game far beyond its original purpose or scope. As such, it can conflict with the game
and cause occasional failures and errors. Such errors will not have any lasting effect on the modification or the game,
however they may result in crashes, freezes or the current session becoming unplayable. Note that LSPDFR does
not currently support any form of multiplayer gameplay.
The first public release of LSPDFR lays down a basic framework upon which the modification will be developed. Still,
it contains a number of interesting features - many of which will be easily recognizable by anyone who played its sister
modification, LCPDFR for GTA IV.

It is alleged that:
- on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, during the early morning hours, an altercation occurred between a group of people in the Front Street West/Blue Jays Way area
- the altercation led to two boys being kidnapped and held against their will at several locations throughout the city
- over the course of two days, the boys were repeatedly assaulted and threatened with firearms
- a ransom demand was made to secure their safe release
On Thursday, April 21, 2016, the boys were released.
On Saturday, April 23, 2016, one of the men involved in the kidnapping was arrested. Quinton Gardiner, 19, of Toronto, is charged with:
1) Kidnapping for Ransom
2) Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
3) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4) Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
5) Assault with a Weapon
6) Weapons Dangerous
On Sunday, April 24, 2016, as part of the ongoing investigation, a search warrant was executed at a home in the Shaughnessy Boulevard/Trailside Drive area.
It is alleged that:
- a loaded Walther PPK 9 mm was located
Akil Whyte, 23, of Toronto, is charged with:
1) two counts of Careless Storage of Firearm
2) two counts of Fail to Comply with Disposition
3) Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
4) Possession of Firearm Obtained by the Commission of an Offence
5) Possession of a Loaded Restricted Firearm
6) Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
7) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Under

These people are believed to be armed and dangerous. If you see them, do not approach, but call 9-1-1.
Judicial authorization previously sought to identify the boy pursuant to Section 110(4) of the Youth Criminal Justice Act has now expired. He can no longer be identified.
