"Mailey se
Nirmal Yamuna &
Ganga " through PUSHPANJALI PRAWAHA KALASH "
The National Green Tribunal, through its order on
13th January,
2015 , called for a national effort to achieve "Mailey se Nirmal Yamuna" .
Today, one year later, we stand at the same place. The households, the celebration events and the temples and other religious establishments dump hundreds and thousands of tons of puja-samagri every day into our rivers. The magnitude of this increases manifold during the major festivals like
Ganesh Puja ,
Durga Puja and Navratri
Etc. .
The people today, have no alternative mechanism, to dispose this material. The puja-samagri is packed into plastic packets along with other non-recyclable material and gets deposited into the river bed. This is one of the major contributory factor to the pollution of our rivers from solid waste.
We have demonstrated the utility of implementing our alternative mechanism of "
Pushpanjali Prawaha
Kalash" for the disposal of this puja samagri and this has found wide-acceptance amongst the devotees and general public, since over a decade, across several cities of our
Country (e.g.
Delhi,
Mumbai,
Nasik,
Ahemdabad, others]. However, this cannot be sustained without support of the government and local bodies. Through this letter, we offer to work with the
Government and local bodies, to implement this program to contribute to this objective.
Through our PushpanjaliPrawahaKalash activity, we have formulated a simple 2 step process
..(1) to collect flowers and other worship- material from
Temples, Mosques,
Churches, Gurudwara's, shops, colonies & most importantly at
Bridges &
Banks of
Rivers ; (2) to send this material to the processing site where it is sorted out in different piles like paper, flowers, plastic's, coconut husks, etc. The biodegradable waste is turned into compost and the rest is recycled. These Pollutants are processed.
This project, if carried to scale – also has the potential to generate thousands of jobs to most under-privileged. This in brief is the story of "PUSHPANJALI PRAWAHA KALASH".
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely
