Buckle your seat belt onboard 5B-CEM and join me and three guys in the cockpit as we bring a great flight to an end. Hearing a windcheck of 18 knots gusting 25 in my landing clearance I was slightly anxious at first on how the aircraft would behave, but until touchdown I confirmed the image I had in mind about the flying characteristics of the C172 which I truly loved. I did all my PPL training in light sport aircraft and I look at the 172 as a big, bulky, yet stable, forgiving and sweet aircraft to fly. Watch the approach, landing, taxi and shutdown with the ATC communications included.

This is a video of my first solo flight out of North Las Vegas airport (kvgt) in a Cessna 172L on 11/6/2013. I did a total of 6 TO & Landings in the pattern, 1.1 on the Hobbs. i clapped in the beginning to help sync the audio with the video afterwards. After being denied to solo a few times due to aircraft maintenance and weather issues i was definitely ready to go. After the first pattern the butterflies just went away and then it was just pure enjoyment. The shaking of the camera is due to the mount not being tighten down enough, sorry. The flight took over an hour but the video is shortened. The aircraft itself had a few minor problems, specifically the flaps when they retract down but never the less things ran very smooth and safe. Thank you for everyone watching. I plan to be making a whole lot more videos of cross countries, night flights, etc. Comment, like tell me what you think. Other pilots, give me some feed back on anything you like, something i could do better, tips, stories, whatever! This is just first flight video and there will be more to come! Subscribe!!

The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is a four-seat, single-engine, high-wing fixed-wing aircraft. First flown in 1955 and still in production, more Cessna 172s have been built than any other aircraft.
Measured by its longevity and popularity, the Cessna 172 is the most successful mass-produced light aircraft in history. The first production models were delivered in 1956. As of 2008, more than 43,000 had been built. The Skyhawk's main competitors have been the Beechcraft Musketeer and Grumman AA-5 series (neither in production), the Piper Cherokee, and, more recently, the Diamond DA40.
The Cessna 172 started life as a tricycle landing gear variant of the taildragger Cessna 170, with a basic level of standard equipment. In January 1955, the company had flown an improved variant of the Cessna 170, a Continental O-300-A-powered Cessna 170C with a larger elevator and more angular vertical tail. Although the variant was tested and certified, Cessna decided to modify it with a tricycle landing gear, and the modified Cessna 170C flew again on 12 June 1955. To reduce the time and cost of certification, the type was added to the Cessna 170 type certificate as the Model 172. Later, the 172 was given its own type certificate, 3A12. The 172 became an overnight sales success, and over 1,400 were built in 1956, its first full year of production.

ENGINE START: 0:40 | TAXI: 1:38 | RUN UP: 2:25 | TAKEOFF: 3:35 | NYC SKYLINE: 6:10 | 800X SPEED: 7:56 Here is how it worked: We departed KFRG, contacted KJFK, transitioned west below 500', under JFK class B airspace, and requested the Skyline Route. Climb to 1500' was approved before the Verrazano Bridge. We then circled around the Statue of Liberty and flew north over the Hudson river. Request to cross over Central Park was denied because of KLGA arrivals, so we turned around over the George Washington Bridge and flew back south over the Hudson, towards VZ and back to Farmingdale. Want to learn to fly? This is how you start: 1. Find a flight school in your area. 2. Call and ask to schedule an introductory lesson. Most schools have special discounts for first time flyers. 3. Show up! You will most likely start your lesson by going over some ground training. You will then get to taxi, take off and maneuver the plane in the air. The plane is equipped with dual controls, so the CFI (certified flight instructor) can react quickly to recover from any mistakes you could make. His/her #1 goal is to make sure you are safe. First Solo Flight C172-David Modler (ATC audio)(HD) 17yearsold
This is a video of my first solo flight out of North Las Vegas airport (kvgt) in a Cessna 172L on 11/6/2013. I did a total of 6 TO & Landings in the pattern, 1.1 on the Hobbs. i clapped in the beginning to help sync the audio with the video afterwards. After being denied to solo a few times due to aircraft maintenance and weather issues i was definitely ready to go. After the first pattern the butterflies just went away and then it was just pure enjoyment. The shaking of the camera is due to the mount not being tighten down enough, sorry. The flight took over an hour but the video is shortened. The aircraft itself had a few minor problems, specifically the flaps when they retract down but never the less things ran very smooth and safe. Thank you for everyone watching. Buckle your seat belt onboard 5B-CEM and join me and three guys in the cockpit as we bring a great flight to an end. Hearing a windcheck of 18 knots gusting 25 in my landing clearance I was slightly anxious at first on how the aircraft would behave, but until touchdown I confirmed the image I had in mind about the flying characteristics of the C172 which I truly loved. I did all my PPL training in light sport aircraft and I look at the 172 as a big, bulky, yet stable, forgiving and sweet aircraft to fly. Watch the approach, landing, taxi and shutdown with the ATC communications included.

ENGINE START: 0:40 | TAXI: 1:38 | RUN UP: 2:25 | TAKEOFF: 3:35 | NYC SKYLINE: 6:10 | 800X SPEED: 7:56
Here is how it worked: We departed KFRG, contacted KJFK, transitioned west below 500', under JFK class B airspace, and requested the Skyline Route.
Climb to 1500' was approved before the Verrazano Bridge. We then circled around the Statue of Liberty and flew north over the Hudson river. Request to cross over Central Park was denied because of KLGA arrivals, so we turned around over the George Washington Bridge and flew back south over the Hudson, towards VZ and back to Farmingdale.
Want to learn to fly? This is how you start:
1. Find a flight school in your area.
2. Call and ask to schedule an introductory lesson. Most schools have special discounts for first time flyers.
3. Show up!
You will most likely start your lesson by going over some ground training. You will then get to taxi, take off and maneuver the plane in the air. The plane is equipped with dual controls, so the CFI (certified flight instructor) can react quickly to recover from any mistakes you could make. His/her #1 goal is to make sure you are safe.
It is an experience you will never forget...

The ATC procedures are explained. The New Your ATC controllers are very busy because they have to handle a huge amount of traffic. But they are the best I have ever countered in my flying world-wide in more than 40 countries! If you work with them - they work with you!. If you screw up, you are not in the best place to fly.

Here is the next crop. ... I'll argue all day that a pilot who has trained from day one to operate in an airline environment is much more suited for an ATPL at 250 hours than a flight instructor who spent 1500 hours doing airwork and traffic patterns in a C172 (not that there is anything wrong with this—I've given 6000 hours of dual instruction and though it made me a pretty good GA pilot it did not really prepare me for airline flying)....
