Lima Personal Cloud Device Review http://www.DadDoes.Com . Today we review the Lima Personal Cloud Device. This was a hugely successful Kickstarter and is now sold for $99 on Amazon.
The promise is great - all of your files, from all of your devices, instantly and securely available from any device. True independence for your music, photos and videos. Take a photo with your iPhone and seconds later it is on your PC and Android tablet. As all your files are stored locally on a drive you connect to your router - more secure than the cloud and faster - THAT IS THE PROMISE.
As the video shows, the Lima Personal Cloud does not live up to the promise. This feels like a beta release at best. We will update this review if Lima improves, but for right now, save your $99 (plus the cost of a hard drive) and do not get the Lima.

If you're reading this right now, you're probably a cyborg--though it might be surprising, it's true. In this compelling commentary documentary, we will explore the extent to which and how this new dominating species evolved, and make the important realization that while personal devices may provide certain benefits, consistent use is dissolving the line between cyborgs and humans--diminishing the quality of human life, and eventually leading us to an unfathomably disturbing future.
This was written, directed, shot, produced, and edited by Gus Serrano as a final project for his History of Mass Media Technologies course. All footage is original, and music (besides that of Nero and Big Gigantic) was provided kindly by his close friends Davis Weimer (Harpo Speaks) and The Toy Box (Carter Matthews). A Sony Alpha DSLT A65 camera was used with a 35mm Prime and 75-300mm Telephoto, for shooting the various interviews, stock footage, and timelapses. If you have any questions, let me know! Heraldic badge
A heraldic badge, an emblem, an impresa, or device, or personal device worn as a badge indicates allegiance to, or the property of, an individual or family. Medieval forms are usually called a livery badge, and also a cognizance. Livery collars were also given to important persons, often with the badge as a pendant. The badge would also be embroidered or appliqued on standards, horse trappings, livery uniforms, and other belongings. Many medieval badges survive in English pub names.

Singing
Singing is the act of producing musical sounds with the voice, and augments regular speech by the use of tonality, rhythm, the use of sustained tones and a variety of vocal techniques. A person who sings is called a singer or vocalist. Singers perform music (arias, recitatives, songs, etc.) that can be sung without accompaniment or with accompaniment by musical instruments. Singing is often done in a group of other musicians, such as in a choir of singers with different voice ranges, or in an ensemble with instrumentalists, such as a rock group or baroque ensemble. Singers may also perform as soloist with accompaniment from a piano (as in art song and in some jazz styles) or with a symphony orchestra or big band. There are a range of different singing styles, including art music styles such as opera and Chinese opera, religious music styles such as Gospel, traditional music styles, world music, jazz, blues and popular music styles such as pop and rock.
Singing can be formal or informal, arranged or improvised. It may be done for religious devotion, as a hobby, as a source of pleasure, comfort, or ritual, as part of music education, or as a profession. Excellence in singing requires time, dedication, instruction, and regular practice. If practice is done on a regular basis then the sounds can become more clear and strong. Professional singers usually build their careers around one specific musical genre, such as classical or rock, although there are singers with crossover success (singing in more than one genre). They typically take voice training provided by voice teachers or vocal coaches throughout their careers.

As it reaches specific altitudes it disperses Cloud Condensation Nuclei (CCN), heat and water vapor. Moisture in the air condenses into cloud droplets around the CCN, forming into small clouds. CLOUDMAKER
The CloudMaker is a personal device for weather modification. It consists of cloud-making gear sent up into the atmosphere in a weather-balloon payload. As it reaches specific altitudes it disperses Cloud Condensation Nuclei (CCN), heat and water vapor. Moisture in the air condenses into cloud droplets around the CCN, forming into small clouds. In August 2012 the IFA Berlin was again the meeting place of the digital world. Our Team created, developed and produced the „core“ of the largest booth ever of Panasonic Europe – the Swipe & Share monument, a digital sculpture and real eye catcher of the fair. The visitors can interact by selecting sea pictures from a personal device and „swipe“ them into the underwater world of the monument. Suddenly the fish becomes alive and starts to swim. On 68 displays in total a vivid underwater scenery is performed in real time – a pure crowd puller.

Feather Tales II by Ricardo O'Nascimento and Ebru Kurbak is a responsive environment that arose from an imaginary scenario in which a secretive dialogue between electromagnetic waves and their material surroundings become vaguely visible, thus captivating. The installation is composed of 200 reactive units that hold 1000 white ostrich feathers distributed in the Sala Nueva of LABoral. Each reactive unit includes an electromagnetic signal sensor, a processor, a servo motor and movable feathers. When a signal is detected in the proximity of a sensor, the feathers start to flicker and move accordingly. Increasingly staged by technology, we might as well take up the challenge to form and inhabit this new terrain and to facilitate transitions between physical, augmented and virtual realities. Here is a narrative for such a task and a technology to help make it happen. The Posture Platform for immersive telepresence is composed of Posture Net, a server-client architecture connecting a number of Posture Bases used as points of entry. From within a base, participants use Posture Pad, a free iPhone application, to navigate in virtual terrains such as You are here. In this compelling commentary documentary, we will explore the extent to which and how this new dominating species evolved, and make the important realization that while personal devices may provide certain benefits, consistent use is dissolving the line between cyborgs and humans--diminishing the quality of human life, and eventually leading us to an unfathomably disturbing future.
This was written, directed, shot, produced, and edited by Gus Serrano as a final project for his History of Mass Media Technologies course. All footage is original, and music (besides that of Nero and Big Gigantic) was provided kindly by his close friends Davis Weimer (Harpo Speaks) and The Toy Box (Carter Matthews). As part of the 2011 Esquire House HUSH developed software that enables the creation of sound and visuals via touch enabled devices. Simply put, any multitouch device is now an instrument.
A MIDI instrument for Abelton Live, TUIO2MIDI enables people to utilize any TUIO capable touch device as a musical instrument or control surface. Trigger any MIDI responsive system in the same manner as one would use traditional instrument. The ubiquitous, networkable and tactile nature of personal devices opens up a world of possibilities for artists and audience member participation. In conjunction with the very talented AmanAmun we have decided to release this software for free at maxforlive.com.

Feather Tales II by Ricardo O'Nascimento and Ebru Kurbak is a responsive environment that arose from an imaginary scenario in which a secretive dialogue between electromagnetic waves and their material surroundings become vaguely visible, thus captivating.
The installation is composed of 200 reactive units that hold 1000 white ostrich feathers distributed in the Sala Nueva of LABoral. Each reactive unit includes an electromagnetic signal sensor, a processor, a servo motor and movable feathers. When a signal is detected in the proximity of a sensor, the feathers start to flicker and move accordingly. The units are sensitive to a variety of frequencies ranging from mobile telephony to WiFi and bluetooth. Hence, the visitors are provided with the chance to interact with the environment using their personal devices.

Increasingly staged by technology, we might as well take up the challenge to form and inhabit this new terrain and to facilitate transitions between physical, augmented and virtual realities. Here is a narrative for such a task and a technology to help make it happen.
The Posture Platform for immersive telepresence is composed of Posture Net, a server-client architecture connecting a number of Posture Bases used as points of entry. From within a base, participants use Posture Pad, a free iPhone application, to navigate in virtual terrains such as You are here. A 360° video of each participants is captured, multicasted to all bases, and displayed to match the participants virtual position and orientation in real-time. Ambient sound is created by speakers integrated to the immersive screen and open headsets are used for voice.
In Posture, terrains are created as contexts for exploration, encounters and interaction. The initial terrain You are here invites participants to play with scale. Scale x1 blends the physical reality with its exact virtual representation allowing participants to seamlessly enter and exit a Posture Bases physically or virtually. Scale x2 takes participants into imagined or documented remote landscapes. Scale x3 morphs landscapes into a humanscape formed with portraits of registered participants. Scale x4 opens a participant’s personal archive.
In You are here, as in any other terrains in the Posture platform, encounters with other participants in distant Posture Bases can happen anywhere and at any moment. As in the physical space, participants are first seen from a distance and approach decisions and strategies have to be mutually decided and executed to create a face-to-face encounter. In a narrative characteristic of the increasing fluidity between folds of the real, a number of friends or colleagues could decide on a rendez-vous at a certain time and place within a Posture terrain and then individually reach for a nearby Posture Base to spend time together.
The use of a personal devices such as the iPhone to navigate, touch and manipulate in You are here further affirms fluidity between mediums and uses in our daily lives. When launched, the Posture Pad application automatically connects the participant’s iPhone to the nearby Posture Base and fully empowers its user in the Posture platform. As of March 2010, there are five Posture Bases offering access to You are here.

CLOUDMAKER
The CloudMaker is a personal device for weather modification. It consists of cloud-making gear sent up into the atmosphere in a weather-balloon payload. As it reaches specific altitudes it disperses Cloud Condensation Nuclei (CCN), heat and water vapor. Moisture in the air condenses into cloud droplets around the CCN, forming into small clouds. In August 2012 the IFA Berlin was again the meeting place of the digital world. Our Team created, developed and produced the „core“ of the largest booth ever of Panasonic Europe – the Swipe & Share monument, a digital sculpture and real eye catcher of the fair. The visitors can interact by selecting sea pictures from a personal device and „swipe“ them into the underwater world of the monument. Suddenly the fish becomes alive and starts to swim. On 68 displays in total a vivid underwater scenery is performed in real time – a pure crowd puller.

In this compelling commentary documentary, we will explore the extent to which and how this new dominating species evolved, and make the important realization that while personal devices may provide certain benefits, consistent use is dissolving the line between cyborgs and humans--diminishing the quality of human life, and eventually leading us to an unfathomably disturbing future.
This was written, directed, shot, produced, and edited by Gus Serrano as a final project for his History of Mass Media Technologies course. All footage is original, and music (besides that of Nero and Big Gigantic) was provided kindly by his close friends Davis Weimer (Harpo Speaks) and The Toy Box (Carter Matthews). This method is inspired by a geo-engineering technique proposed to create brighter, more reflective clouds which shield earth from sun’s radiation, and thus partly counteract the climate change.

The visitors can interact by selecting sea pictures from a personal device and „swipe“ them into the underwater world of the monument. Suddenly the fish becomes alive and starts to swim. On 68 displays in total a vivid underwater scenery is performed in real time – a pure crowd puller.

Feather Tales II by Ricardo O'Nascimento and Ebru Kurbak is a responsive environment that arose from an imaginary scenario in which a secretive dialogue between electromagnetic waves and their material surroundings become vaguely visible, thus captivating.
The installation is composed of 200 reactive units that hold 1000 white ostrich feathers distributed in the Sala Nueva of LABoral. Each reactive unit includes an electromagnetic signal sensor, a processor, a servo motor and movable feathers. When a signal is detected in the proximity of a sensor, the feathers start to flicker and move accordingly. The units are sensitive to a variety of frequencies ranging from mobile telephony to WiFi and bluetooth. Hence, the visitors are provided with the chance to interact with the environment using their personal devices.

Increasingly staged by technology, we might as well take up the challenge to form and inhabit this new terrain and to facilitate transitions between physical, augmented and virtual realities. Here is a narrative for such a task and a technology to help make it happen.
The Posture Platform for immersive telepresence is composed of Posture Net, a server-client architecture connecting a number of Posture Bases used as points of entry. From within a base, participants use Posture Pad, a free iPhone application, to navigate in virtual terrains such as You are here. A 360° video of each participants is captured, multicasted to all bases, and displayed to match the participants virtual position and orientation in real-time. Ambient sound is created by speakers integrated to the immersive screen and open headsets are used for voice.
In Posture, terrains are created as contexts for exploration, encounters and interaction. The initial terrain You are here invites participants to play with scale. Scale x1 blends the physical reality with its exact virtual representation allowing participants to seamlessly enter and exit a Posture Bases physically or virtually. Scale x2 takes participants into imagined or documented remote landscapes. Scale x3 morphs landscapes into a humanscape formed with portraits of registered participants. Scale x4 opens a participant’s personal archive.
In You are here, as in any other terrains in the Posture platform, encounters with other participants in distant Posture Bases can happen anywhere and at any moment. As in the physical space, participants are first seen from a distance and approach decisions and strategies have to be mutually decided and executed to create a face-to-face encounter. In a narrative characteristic of the increasing fluidity between folds of the real, a number of friends or colleagues could decide on a rendez-vous at a certain time and place within a Posture terrain and then individually reach for a nearby Posture Base to spend time together.
The use of a personal devices such as the iPhone to navigate, touch and manipulate in You are here further affirms fluidity between mediums and uses in our daily lives. When launched, the Posture Pad application automatically connects the participant’s iPhone to the nearby Posture Base and fully empowers its user in the Posture platform. As of March 2010, there are five Posture Bases offering access to You are here.
