International Indian Film Academy awards have already begun its many events with the main night reserved for today. Bollywood celebs are busy upping their fashion game on the red/green carpet, rehearsing for their big acts and having some fun as well. Many of them are also nominees in various categories. There is someone who has already been chosen one for a prestigious prize but it might end up a bit disappointing. Sridevi, the hawa hawai diva and one of the talented actresses of Bollywood, was to be awarded the outstanding achievement award at IIFA this year. That was definitely a great news but unfortunately, the lady won’t be there to accept it.
Sridevi has been around in the industry for a long time now. She has given us some of the best characters we still remember. Her Chandni act in a Yash Chopra film of the same name was a class act. And when she decided to make her comeback after so many years, she chose a film like English Vinglish which proved to everyone what we were missing. No wonder IIFA wanted to honour the lady but we hear she will give the event a miss. Although there’s no news of why she is doing so, the event will have to do without her.
Is the award the issue here? It does sound like a lifetime achievement award and Sridevi’s career is still alive. We wonder…
