Around a hundred kilometres off South Korea’s southern coast and lapped by the waves of the East China Sea is Jeju Island, an extraordinary holiday paradise situated on a volcanic island with temples, waterfalls, tee plantations and several leisure facilities. In the middle of the north coast is Jeju-Si, the island’s capital city. The first thing that catches the eye is Yongduam Rock that is situated on the city’s western periphery. It is an unusual lava formation that resembles a dragon’s head. The National Museum features the island’s history and culture including the clothing of the first settlers and the boats that first brought them to the island. The nearby fishing village of Haenyed boasts a special attraction, the island’s famous female divers. For generations these courageous women have dived to a depth of twenty metres for shells and seaweed without breathing apparatus and go for two minutes without breathing. On the western heights of the south coast is the Songaksan Crater, an extinct volcano whose slopes are covered with green vegetation. The steep coast and rocky bay indicate that powerful eruptions once took place there and perhaps the volcano’s benign appearance may only be a momentary lapse in the geological history of the island. Jeju Island is a remarkable place and well worth a visit!

Seogwipo (서귀�시) is a tourist city on Jeju Island - a popular holiday destination for Koreans and international tourists.
Covering the southern half of Jeju Island It is the second largest city on the island. A stroll around the coast surrounding Seogwipo reveals breathtaking views.
Seogwipo has a tranquil and laidback atmosphere and has many tourist attractions nearby, including walking distance to two of the three famous waterfalls in Jeju: Jeongbang Waterfall and Cheonjiyeon Waterfall.
There are plenty of restaurants in Seogwipo, including many serving the freshest seafood.

Description of Jeju Island:
Jejudo is a volcanic island, 130 km from the southern coast of Korea. The largest island and smallest province in Korea, the island has a surface area of 1,846 sqkm. A central feature of Jeju is Hallasan, the tallest mountain in South Korea and a dormant volcano, which rises 1,950 m above sea level. 360 satellite volcanoes are around the main volcano.

In this KOREA 360° episode, we visited the old Boseong Market (보성시장) in Jeju City. This old market is known for its soondae, which is a type of Korean blood sausage.
The market itself was once a thriving and bustling place for locals to go and eat food and buy produce. But over time, as big corporate supermarkets starting popping up everywhere, it killed the energy and vibe of the market slowly. The market is now in an active state of trying to revitalize their menus and other things in order to attract a new generation of people to come and keep the market alive.
We arrived at Boseong Market around 3pm, which was 2 hours before the festival started so many of the shops and streets were completely empty. We decided that it would probably be fine to film this, because once the festival started, maybe it would be too loud to film and you viewers wouldn't be able to hear us properly. Don't worry though, we came back a few hours later to capture an nice traditional panseori song with local old people dancing in front of the stage. What an awesome moment!

Jeju City
Jeju (Jeju-si; Korean pronunciation: [t͡ɕe̞d͡ʑu]) is the capital of Jeju Province in South Korea and the largest city on Jejudo. The city is served by Jeju International Airport (IATA code CJU).
Located in a southern part of Korea, on an island off the Korean Peninsula, Jeju has mild, warm weather during much of the year. The city is a well-known resort, with prestigious hotels and public casino facilities. In 2011, 9.9 million passengers flew between the two cities of Seoul and Jeju, making the Gimpo–Jeju route the world's busiest passenger air route. Jeju welcomes over ten million visitors from mainland Korea, Japan, and China every year.
History
The area of the city has played a central role in Jeju since before recorded history. The Samseonghyeol, holes from which the three ancestors of the Jeju people are said to have come, are located in downtown Jeju City.
The city has grown quite rapidly since the 1970s. Shin Jeju (ì‹ ì œì£¼), or "new Jeju", was created some decades ago, up the hill from the airport and houses many government buildings. The thatched roof buildings that were common throughout the city until the 1970s are gradually disappearing.

In this KOREA 360° episode, we visited the old Boseong Market (보성시장) in Jeju City. This old market is known for its soondae, which is a type of Korean blood sausage. The market itself was once a thriving and bustling place for locals to go and eat food and buy produce. But over time, as big corporate supermarkets starting popping up everywhere, it killed the energy and vibe of the market slowly. The market is now in an active state of trying to revitalize their menus and other things in order to attract a new generation of people to come and keep the market alive. We arrived at Boseong Market around 3pm, which was 2 hours before the festival started so many of the shops and streets were completely empty. We decided that it would probably be fine to film this, because once the festival started, maybe it would be too loud to film and you viewers wouldn't be able to hear us properly. Don't worry though, we came back a few hours later to capture an nice traditional panseori song with local old people dancing in front of the stage. What an awesome moment! In the middle of the north coast is Jeju-Si, the island’s capital city. The first thing that catches the eye is Yongduam Rock that is situated on the city’s western periphery. It is an unusual lava formation that resembles a dragon’s head. The National Museum features the island’s history and culture including the clothing of the first settlers and the boats that first brought them to the island. The nearby fishing village of Haenyed boasts a special attraction, the island’s famous female divers. For generations these courageous women have dived to a depth of twenty metres for shells and seaweed without breathing apparatus and go for two minutes without breathing. On the western heights of the south coast is the Songaksan Crater, an extinct volcano whose slopes are covered with green vegetation. The steep coast and rocky bay indicate that powerful eruptions once took place there and perhaps the volcano’s benign appearance may only be a momentary lapse in the geological history of the island. Jeju Island is a remarkable place and well worth a visit!

Description of Jeju Island:
Jejudo is a volcanic island, 130 km from the southern coast of Korea. The largest island and smallest province in Korea, the island has a surface area of 1,846 sqkm. A central feature of Jeju is Hallasan, the tallest mountain in South Korea and a dormant volcano, which rises 1,950 m above sea level. 360 satellite volcanoes are around the main volcano.

1.The highest mountain in South Korea, Hallasan (Halla Mountain), is located on Jeju Island. The peak of the mountain looks like a giant crater.
2. UNESCO registered as a World Heritage Sites: Halla Mountain, Seongsan Sunrise peak and lava cave system where lava tubes were formed when the lava erupting from the volcano cooled. It's called to as Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes.
3. Jeju Island has also been called the ‘Hawaii of Korea'.
4. On Jeju exists the ‘Goblin's road'. Due to an optical illusion of the surrounding landscape, cars moving downhill roads look like they move uphill.

In this KOREA 360° episode, we visited the old Boseong Market (보성시장) in Jeju City. This old market is known for its soondae, which is a type of Korean blood sausage.
The market itself was once a thriving and bustling place for locals to go and eat food and buy produce. But over time, as big corporate supermarkets starting popping up everywhere, it killed the energy and vibe of the market slowly. The market is now in an active state of trying to revitalize their menus and other things in order to attract a new generation of people to come and keep the market alive.
We arrived at Boseong Market around 3pm, which was 2 hours before the festival started so many of the shops and streets were completely empty. We decided that it would probably be fine to film this, because once the festival started, maybe it would be too loud to film and you viewers wouldn't be able to hear us properly. Don't worry though, we came back a few hours later to capture an nice traditional panseori song with local old people dancing in front of the stage. What an awesome moment!

This picturesque part of South Korea stands over rocky beaches and a windy plateau. Here you can walk along miles of craggy coastline, breathing in the honeyed scent of bright yellow canola flowers and watching herds of grazing Jeju ponies.
One of the highlights of Seopikoji sightseeing is a visit to Bongsudae, an ancient signal tower built entirely of stone. Bongsudae, and other towers like it, was once used as a communication system, transmitting messages via signal fire. The remaining walls are over 13 feet high, and are the perfect place for photo ops.

Jeju Province is one of the nine provinces of South Korea. The province is situated on and coterminous with the nation's largest island of Jeju (also Jejudo). The island lies in the Korea Strait, southwest of South Jeolla Province, of which it was a part before it became a separate province in 1946. Its capital is Jeju City.

With one of the lowest birth rates in the world, South Korea is in danger of disappearing by the end of the millennium. If the situation stays as it is, South Koreans are predicted to become extinct by 2750. Because of the rapidly aging population, elderly prostitutes known as "Bacchus ladies" have cornered a number of public parks as their working areas. Meanwhile, South Korean kids are living with their families well into their 20s—as a result, an entire economy of sex motels has sprung up to give kids a place to fool around outside the watchful eyes of their parents.
We sent Matt Shea to investigate this generational crisis, which led him to Seoul's red-light district, a pre-wedding photo shoot on the set of a Korean soap opera, and an erotic sculpture park on South Korea's "honeymoon island."

Even though the City Council on Tuesday night adopted a lower tax rate than last fiscal year’s, Pflugerville residents will most likely see an increase in city property taxes this coming fiscal year ... Mayor Jeff Coleman said it is a tax rate reduction but the city will collect more money than last year due to increasing property appraisals ...
