In this award-winning film, a twenty-minute drive to Simi Valley turns into an odyssey for a family of three inextricably linked (and slightly crazy) women. At her estranged aunt’s request, nine-month pregnant and neurotic Jenica (Jenica Bergere) takes her dementia-suffering mother (Karen Landry) to see her in Simi Valley. Not wanting to go it alone, she enlists the help of her estranged aging porn star sister (Tawny Kitaen). With the help of her navigation system (Molly Shannon), seemingly heard only by Jenica, she tries to reconcile her family and their past before her daughter arrives and her mother passes. However, life’s route is fraught with detours, never direct, but always runs through love, humor, hope and even a bit of crazy.

Fans of All Stars got a first-hand look at how the film came about, from where the screenplay was derived, and much more as the film's writer Lance Kinsey and producer James Portolese made an appearance after the screening of the film at the Heartland Film Festival. All Stars is a comical "mockumentary" about a softball team's coach and his hilarious confrontations with the parents of the players. Kinsey and Portolese showed a real appreciation for the audience and for the Heartland Film Festival as they stuck around for a Q&A; after the film. Check out the entire video here!
ALL-STARS follows a girls' 10-year-old fastpitch softball team and their families through a recreation league season that culminates in the selection of the coveted 10-and-under All-Star team. Lance Grayden, a veteran coach who left the league years ago when his daughter moved to an elite softball club team, and then college, has returned to "give something back" to the community. Assuming he'd be coaching a 16-and-under team of seasoned and accomplished competitors, he is instead saddled with a 10-and-under team of inexperienced players. Not only is he forced to go back to the basics and teach the fundamentals of the game to the little girls, half of whom would rather be in the dugout eating snacks, but he also faces the greater challenge of riding herd over their over-eager, overly ambit...
Everybody hates Anthony Stowe (Van Damme); a narcotics lieutenant with a bad attitude and an addiction to heroin. Having become a shadow of the man he once was, his life is falling apart and his wife wants to leave him. Stowe's ex-partner, Gabriel Callaghan (Stephen Rae) also wants him out of the picture as he works to become the new leader of the gangsters in local organised crime. Callaghn sends his goons after Stowe, who comes close to death when he falls into a coma after taking a bullet in the head. Months later, he awakens from the coma with the idea of finishing off his former partner, becoming a better person, and a better husband. © 2006 CHASER FINANCING LLC. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
[Jump to 9:38 for the first set] [Jump to 1:28:18 for the second set] Let's try this again, shall we? You may recall that the first show of our 2015 season -- The Barry Winograd Trio -- had to be canceled because of snow and extreme cold. We were thankfully able to reschedule Barry's performance for this Thursday. And since THIS week we were able to get the cold and snow out of the way a few days in advance of Barry's show, hopefully you'll all be shoveled out and eager to get the heck out of the house by showtime. We are very grateful that Chicago jazz station WDCB (90.9FM) is our series co-sponsor this year, and I'm happy to celebrate our partnership with WDCB by featuring Barry. Barry is a fine show host on WDCB (he's on the air weekdays 10AM-2PM), and he is also a fantastic saxophonist...
