Lord Charles Cornwallis asks Tavington to finish Benjamin Martin.
British General Charles Cornwallis, the 2nd Earl Cornwallis, was appointed in February 1786 to serve as both Commander-in-Chief of British India and Governor of the Presidency of Fort William, also known as the Bengal Presidency. Based in Calcutta, he oversaw the consolidation of British control over much of peninsular India, setting the stage for the British Raj. He was also instrumental in enacting administrative and legal reforms that fundamentally altered civil administration and land management practices in India. According to historian Jerry Dupont, Cornwallis was responsible for "laying the foundation for British rule throughout India and setting standards for the services, courts, and revenue collection that remained remarkably unaltered almost to the end of the British era."
He was raised to the title of Marquess Cornwallis in 1792 as recognition for his performance in the Third Anglo-Mysore War, in which he extracted significant concessions from the Mysorean ruler, Tipu Sultan. He returned to England in 1793, and was subsequently engaged in a variety of administrative and diplomatic postings until 1798, when he was posted to the Kingdom of Ireland as Lord Lieutenant and Commander-in-Chief, similar to his leadership posts in India. After returning from Ireland in 1801, he was again posted to India. He arrived in July 1805, and died the same October in Ghazipur. Cornwallis was buried at Ghazipur, and is memorialized throughout India.

The Surrender of Lord Cornwallis is an oil painting by John Trumbull. The painting was completed in 1820, and hangs in the rotunda of the United States Capitol in Washington, D. C.
The painting depicts the surrender of British Major General Charles, Earl Cornwallis at Yorktown, Virginia on October 19, 1781, ending the Siege of Yorktown, and virtually guaranteeing American independence. Included in the depiction are many leaders of the American troops that took part in the siege.

George Washington
George Washington (February 22, 1732 [O.S. February 11, 1731] – December 14, 1799) was the first President of the United States (1789–97), the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He presided over the convention that drafted the current United States Constitution and during his lifetime was called the "father of his country".
Widely admired for his strong leadership qualities, Washington was unanimously elected president in the first two national elections. He oversaw the creation of a strong, well-financed national government that maintained neutrality in the French Revolutionary Wars, suppressed the Whiskey Rebellion, and won acceptance among Americans of all types. Washington's incumbency established many precedents, still in use today, such as the cabinet system, the inaugural address, and the title Mr. President. His retirement from office after two terms established a tradition that lasted until 1940, when Franklin Delano Roosevelt won an unprecedented third term. The 22nd Amendment (1951) now limits the president to eight years in office.

He was raised to the title of Marquess Cornwallis in 1792 as recognition for his performance in the Third Anglo-Mysore War, in which he extracted significant concessions from the Mysorean ruler, Tipu Sultan. He returned to England in 1793, and was subsequently engaged in a variety of administrative and diplomatic postings until 1798, when he was posted to the Kingdom of Ireland as Lord Lieutenant and Commander-in-Chief, similar to his leadership posts in India. After returning from Ireland in 1801, he was again posted to India. He arrived in July 1805, and died the same October in Ghazipur. On October 17, 1781, four years to the day when British General John Burgoyne surrendered his army to American forces at Saratoga, New York, Lord Charles Cornwallis requested terms of surrender from General George Washington. Two days later, the British marched between lines of French and American soldiers to the tune of “The World Turn’d Upside Down.” Upon hearing the news, British Prime Minister Lord North, “reeled, threw out his arms, exclaiming wildly, as he paced up and down…‘Oh, God! We often assume that the American Revolution ended in October 1781, after Lord Cornwallis surrendered his British army at Yorktown. In fact, the war effectively continued for two more traumatic years. During that time, the Revolution came as close to being lost as any time since it began. These were years during which political and personal tensions paralyzed the British government and the American Congress. Loyalists fearing a Patriot victory fled America to seek refuge in other parts of the Empire. When Congress failed to pay the army, rumors of mutiny roiled through the ranks culminating in the General's legendary address to his officers on March 15, 1783. At that moment, Washington saved the republic. -

In 1783, the Treaty of Paris brought the American War of Independence to an end and victory for the Americans and their French allies. The victory at Yorktown marked the end of the British campaign in the South to divide the American colonies and encourage loyalists to flock to the King’s banner. Instead of meeting a population willing to assist the British, they found a land deeply divided.
Guerrilla warfare raged since the war’s beginning between Patriots and Loyalists as each side sought to settle old scores. Cornwallis made frustrating marches through the Carolinas and into Virginia as he sought to destroy the American army under General Nathanael Greene. Despite several victories, the Americans escaped to fight another day, while the British lost more and more men. When efforts to crush the Americans failed and Greene was soon reinforced by the Marquis de Lafayette, Cornwallis turned to the coast, hoping to link up with the navy and return to New York. Instead, Cornwallis soon found himself surrounded in the small coastal town of Yorktown.

Michael said he was most impressed by an EVP they recorded at a revolutionary war battlefield (Battle of Camden). According to Michael, he asked about a commanding officer and a voice replied "Malcolm," which he later discovered was the name of a British causality under Lord Cornwallis. Michael suggested some spirits may not realize they have passed on. He also detailed the equipment they use on investigations, including full-spectrum cameras, FLIR thermal imager, EM pumps, the Mel Meter, and Ovilus. Kelly spoke about being followed home by spirits on multiple occasions and crossing paths with an entity claiming to be the Devil in a children's cemetery.

According to Michael, he asked about a commanding officer and a voice replied "Malcolm," which he later discovered was the name of a British causality under Lord Cornwallis.
