Actor Jameson Thomas, carrying a briefcase, walks onto set dressed to look like a living room. He puts the case on a table and takes out two cactus plants in pots. He looks up at the camera and says "Oh, hello. How do you like my pets?". He goes on to explain that "these are the latest things in home comforts" - lots of people are using cacti instead of cut flowers because they go so well with modern furniture and decorations.
He shows us some cacti from the table. A big hairy one is called 'The Statue of Liberty'. It over 50 years old and used to be about 3 feet high but a greenhouse fell on it, causing it to grow outwards. A small, prickly specimen reminds Jameson of the drawings he used to do of his schoolmaster; he puts it down on a chair. He then shows us cacti in miniature landscapes.
Jameson nearly sits on the prickly cactus that he had put down on a chair. He stops himself just in time and picks up the cactus, saying "This one too has its points."

Jameson Thomas
Jameson Thomas (24 March 1888 – 10 January 1939) was an English film actor. He appeared in 82 films between 1923 and 1939.
He was born Thomas Roland Jameson in St George Hanover Square, London. On the stage from his early teens, Jameson first appeared as a half-breed boy in The Squaw Man. He made his screen debut in 1923 in the film Chu Chin Chow. In 1929, he starred in Piccadilly as Valentine Wilmot opposite Anna May Wong. At the time, Piccadilly was not well received, but has since been recognised as an accomplished melodrama and one of the best films of the late British silent era.
Thomas moved to Hollywood, appearing on the stage with Bebe Daniels in The Last of Mrs. Cheyney. He continued to appear in minor roles in various films until his death. Thomas played "King" Westley, the fortune-hunting husband/fiancé of Claudette Colbert in Frank Capras comedy It Happened One Night. He died from tuberculosis in Sierra Madre, California.

Thomas the Tank Engine
Thomas the Tank Engine is a small fictional steam locomotive in The Railway Series books by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher. He became the most popular character in the series, and is the titular character in the accompanying television spin-off series, Thomas & Friends.
Thomas is a steam engine and has a number 1 painted on his side. All of the locomotives in The Railway Series were based on prototypical engines; Thomas has origins in the E2 Class designed by Lawson Billinton in 1913. Thomas first appeared in 1946 in the second book in the series, Thomas the Tank Engine, and was the focus of the four short stories contained within. Thomas' best friends are Percy and Toby.
In 1979, the British writer/producer Britt Allcroft came across the books, and arranged a deal to bring the stories to life as the TV series Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends (later simplified to Thomas & Friends). The program became an award-winning hit around the world, with a vast range of spin-off commercial products.

Thomas Jameson Torrie FRSE was a Scottish advocate, geologist, botanist and author. He was a competent artist and made his own botanical drawings. He was the son of Patrick Torrie and Janet Jameson, the sister of Robert Jameson, who was a strong influence upon Thomas. He trained as a lawyer at Edinburgh University and qualified as an advocate in 1830. However his primary interests lay in scientific investigations. He was President of Edinburgh's Plinian Society, a group of like-minded thinkers and scientists, in 1827. In 1832 he inherited £10,000, a huge sum for the day, enabling him to pursue his scientific interests at leisure. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1834, his proposer was Sir John Robison. At this time he was living at 21 Royal Circus in Edinburgh's Second New Town, an imposing Georgian townhouse. He also served on the Committee of the British Association for the Advancement of Science. He visited Mount Vesuvius during an eruption and reported his observations back to several scientific bodies. He married Catherine Paton in 1846. They had a son, Lawrence Jameson Torrie. Actor Jameson Thomas, carrying a briefcase, walks onto set dressed to look like a living room. He puts the case on a table and takes out two cactus plants in pots. He looks up at the camera and says "Oh, hello. How do you like my pets?". He goes on to explain that "these are the latest things in home comforts" - lots of people are using cacti instead of cut flowers because they go so well with modern furniture and decorations.
He shows us some cacti from the table. A big hairy one is called 'The Statue of Liberty'. It over 50 years old and used to be about 3 feet high but a greenhouse fell on it, causing it to grow outwards. A small, prickly specimen reminds Jameson of the drawings he used to do of his schoolmaster; he puts it down on a chair. He then shows us cacti in miniature landscapes.
Jameson nearly sits on the prickly cactus that he had put down on a chair. He stops himself just in time and picks up the cactus, saying "This one too has its points."

Thomas Jameson Torrie FRSE was a Scottish advocate, geologist, botanist and author. He was a competent artist and made his own botanical drawings.
He was the son of Patrick Torrie and Janet Jameson, the sister of Robert Jameson, who was a strong influence upon Thomas.
He trained as a lawyer at Edinburgh University and qualified as an advocate in 1830. However his primary interests lay in scientific investigations. He was President of Edinburgh's Plinian Society, a group of like-minded thinkers and scientists, in 1827. In 1832 he inherited £10,000, a huge sum for the day, enabling him to pursue his scientific interests at leisure.
He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1834, his proposer was Sir John Robison. At this time he was living at 21 Royal Circus in Edinburgh's Second New Town, an imposing Georgian townhouse. He also served on the Committee of the British Association for the Advancement of Science.
He visited Mount Vesuvius during an eruption and reported his observations back to several scientific bodies.
He married Catherine Paton in 1846. They had a son, Lawrence Jameson Torrie.

Actor Jameson Thomas, carrying a briefcase, walks onto set dressed to look like a living room. He puts the case on a table and takes out two cactus plants in pots. He looks up at the camera and says "Oh, hello. How do you like my pets?". He goes on to explain that "these are the latest things in home comforts" - lots of people are using cacti instead of cut flowers because they go so well with modern furniture and decorations.
He shows us some cacti from the table. A big hairy one is called 'The Statue of Liberty'. It over 50 years old and used to be about 3 feet high but a greenhouse fell on it, causing it to grow outwards. A small, prickly specimen reminds Jameson of the drawings he used to do of his schoolmaster; he puts it down on a chair. He then shows us cacti in miniature landscapes.
Jameson nearly sits on the prickly cactus that he had put down on a chair. He stops himself just in time and picks up the cactus, saying "This one too has its points."

Then she wants us to look at the MRIs of her brain – the first one that showed in stark black and white how multiple sclerosis was affecting her. But then the deeply hued scans that suggest images of birds, dancers and hearts, turning her MRIs into works of art. In a deeply personal story about her own imperfect body, Jameson challenges us to come to terms with the imperfections of all our bodies, and to see the beauty of our shared experiences with disease, disability, and in the end, imperfection.
Elizabeth Jameson is an artist specializing in the intersection of art and science. As a person living with Multiple Sclerosis, she uses neuro-technology to transform her brain scans into a vibrant, unique form of portraiture that celebrates the imperfect body and brain. Jameson collaborates with scientists, health care providers, and those living with illness to spark conversations and deepen the complex narrative of disability and disease. Today she focuses on how art and design can assist in honoring the human experience of illness, specifically in clinical spaces such as the waiting room. Ms. Jameson’s most recent project, #FacingMS, uses art, storytelling and technology to access the untapped potential of time spent in waiting rooms. Her work is shown at major universities, hospitals, and neuroscience centers throughout the world.
