A-list

A-list is a term that alludes to major movie stars, or the most bankable in the Hollywood film industry or to major recording artists, major international sports stars or miscellaneous occupations such as the most successful film directors, certain high profile media and entertainment moguls and the most notable international TV broadcasters.

The A-list is part of a larger guide called The Hot List that has become an industry-standard guide in Hollywood. James Ulmer has also developed a Hot List of directors.

The Ulmer scale categorizes the lists into A+, A, B+, B, C, and D listings.

Popular usage

In popular usage outside the film industry, an "A-list celebrity" simply refers to any person with an admired or desirable social status. In recent times, the term has given rise to any person, regardless of profession, in the limelight. Even socialites with popular press coverage and elite associations have been termed as "A-list" celebrities. Similarly, less popular persons and current teen idols are referred to as "B-list" – and the ones with lesser fame "C-list".Entertainment Weekly interpreted C-list celebrity as "that guy (or sometimes that girl), the easy-to-remember but hard-to-name character actor".

Camila Alves

Camila Alves (born January 28, 1982) is a Brazilian-American model and designer. She is married to American actor Matthew McConaughey.

Early life

She was raised by her mother, an artist and designer, and her father, a farmer. Alves arrived in Los Angeles at the age of fifteen to visit her aunt, and stayed. After working for four years as a house-cleaner and waitress, she successfully learned English and decided to make the United States her home.

Career

At the age of 19, Alves moved to New York to pursue a career as a fashion model. Alves and her mother design the Muxo line of handbags, which were conceived after experimenting for three years with styles and designs. In 2010, Alves hosted the Bravo network's third season of its reality television show Shear Genius.

In April 2012, Alves was signed on as the new face for Macy's clothing line "I.N.C. International Concepts". In January 2016, Alves launched a lifestyle website, Women of Today, that serves as a hub for her social media, live stream video program Camila's Code and blog posts on food, family, health, fashion, beauty and crafts.

Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch CBE (born 19 July 1976) is an English actor and film producer who has performed in film, television, theatre and radio. The son of actors Timothy Carlton and Wanda Ventham, he graduated from the University of Manchester and continued his training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, obtaining a Master of Arts in Classical Acting. He first performed at the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park in Shakespearean productions such as Love's Labour's Lost (2001), A Midsummer Night's Dream (2001), and Romeo and Juliet (2002). He also portrayed George Tesman in Richard Eyre's revival of Hedda Gabler in 2005 and since then has starred in the Royal National Theatre productions After the Dance (2010) and Frankenstein (2011). In 2015, he played William Shakespeare's Hamlet at the Barbican Theatre.

Cumberbatch's television work includes appearances in Heartbeat (2000), Silent Witness (2002) and Fortysomething (2003) before starring as Stephen Hawking in the television film Hawking in 2004. He has played Sherlock Holmes in the series Sherlock since 2010. He has also starred in Tom Stoppard's adaptation of Parade's End (2012), as well as providing the voices of the British Prime Minister and Severus Snape on an episode of the animated series The Simpsons (2013).
