Bill Maynard actor most famous for playing Claude Jeremiah Greengrass in Itv's "Heartbeat" sings the theme song to Heartbeat originally sung by Nick Berry. This is a great special feature of Bill Maynard singing Heartbeat as he used to be a singer in his early days in around the 1950's era. A bit about Bill Maynard;
Walter Frederick George Williams (born 8 October 1928), better known by the stage name Bill Maynard, is an English comedian and actor.Maynard was born at 5 Oak Cottages, Heath End, Farnham, Surrey, and attended Kibworth Beauchamp Grammar School in Leicestershire. He started as a variety performer, taking his professional surname from an advertising board (billboard) for Maynard's Wine Gums, a popular British confectionery at the time. He was placed fourth in the UK heat of the 1957 Eurovision Song Contest. With Terry Scott he appeared at Butlins Holiday Camp in Skegness and partnered him in the TV series Great Scott, It's Maynard!. Bill was part of the team that present the One O'Clock Show for Tyne Tees Television in Newcastle. (1959-1964). This was set to launch his TV Career in which he sang and presented. In 1973 Maynard worked with television actor and comedian Ronnie Barker in the (original) "Football Blues" which aired as "Spanners Eleven" and was part of a series called Seven of One. In 1975 he had a film role as Yorkshire farmer Hinchcliffe in It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet. At this time, he starred in the Yorkshire Television sitcoms Oh No, It's Selwyn Froggitt! where he played the eponymous lead role and for playing Fred Moffatt in The Gaffer. In the 1970s he also played small roles in some of the Carry On films, including Carry On Matron (1972) and Carry On Dick (1974).In 1984, Maynard stood against Tony Benn in the by-election at Chesterfield as an Independent Labour candidate. It was his only foray into politics and was purely to try to prevent Benn winning the seat and thus re-entering Parliament. Benn won the seat; Maynard took fourth place.He was the subject of This Is Your Life in 1974 when he was surprised by Eamonn Andrews.Maynard published his autobiography The Yo-Yo Man in November 1975 (by Leicester's Golden Eagle books). and "Stand Up...And Be Counted in 1997 Publisher: The Breedon books Publishing Company limited. In 1992 he returned to Yorkshire Television and began playing the lovable old rogue Claude Jeremiah Greengrass in the popular and long-running television series Heartbeat, remaining in the show until December 2000, and its spin-off series The Royal until 2003. Maynard became very popular for his portrayal of the money-making old farmer, and the role of Greengrass probably made him beloved by the whole of Britain. In Europe, Maynard is still very popular for his portrayal in "Heartbeat".
Having originally retired from acting in 2000 following a series of strokes, he made a comeback to radio presenting in March 2003 for BBC Radio Leicester where he had last worked in 1968. His show, called Bill of Fare, aired every Sunday afternoon from 2pm--4pm for nearly five years, until he was dismissed without notice on 5 February 2008.In October 2009 he made a return to the stage when he appeared as the main guest of honour at the Pride of Bridlington Awards held in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Maynard was introduced to the audience by British politician the Rt Hon Greg Knight MP, who praised his work and described the actor as "one of Britain's best-loved comedy stars". Maynard made an entertaining and amusing speech and was mobbed by the audience, showing, even at 81, that he was still held in great affection by the public. On 15 October 2010 he appeared on The Alan Titchmarsh Show, where he revealed that the BBC had asked him to change his surname, so as he was walking around London, he saw a poster with Maynards Wine Gums, written on it so he said to himself "That'll do", and that's how he became known as "Bill Maynard".He has lived in Leicestershire for many years. Maynard married Muriel Linnett on 5 November 1949 and they had two children. She died in June 1983. In 1989 Maynard married Tonia Bern, widow of Donald Campbell. They divorced, as he said in an interview in The Daily Express about his time in Heartbeat. Maynard is a vegetarian. His son is Martin Maynard Williams.Maynard is now mobility impaired, usually using a mobility scooter or wheelchair, having suffered from multiple strokes. He remains in regular contact with fellow Heartbeat actor and friend, Derek Fowlds and Burt Kwouk.Despite his age and lack of mobility, Maynard is an avid poker player and takes part in tournaments in a range of casinos on several evenings per week, with considerable success.

From 2003, her appearances in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series took her to much greater prominence. In 2008, Forbes claimed Knightley to be the second highest paid actress in Hollywood, having reportedly earned $32 million in 2007, making her the only non-American on the list of highest paid actresses.
Knightley has appeared in several Hollywood films and earned nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her role as Elizabeth Bennet in Joe Wright's 2005 adaptation of Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice. Two years later she again was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, as well as the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in Atonement.
Knightley was born in Teddington, London, England, the daughter of Sharman MacDonald, an award-winning playwright, and Will Knightley, a theatre and television actor. Her father is English and her Scottish mother is of half Welsh ancestry. She has an elder brother, Caleb.[citation needed]

William Melvin "Bill" Hicks (December 16, 1961 – February 26, 1994) was an American stand-up comedian, social critic, satirist, and musician. His material largely consisted of general discussions about society, religion, politics, philosophy, and personal issues. Hicks' material was often controversial and steeped in dark comedy. In both his stand-up performances and during interviews, he often criticized consumerism, superficiality, mediocrity, and banality within the media and popular culture, describing them as oppressive tools of the ruling class, meant to "keep people stupid and apathetic".
Hicks was 16 years old when he started performing stand-up comedy at the Comedy Workshop in Houston, Texas, in 1978. During the 1980s he toured the United States extensively and performed a number of high profile television appearances. It was in the UK, however, where Hicks first amassed a significant fan base, packing large venues with his 1991 tour. Hicks died of pancreatic cancer in 1994 at the age of 32. In the years after his death, his work and legacy achieved acclaim in creative circles. In 2007 he was voted the fourth-greatest stand-up comic on the UK's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups on Channel 4, and appeared again in the updated 2010 list as the fourth-greatest comic.

A bit about Bill Maynard;
Walter Frederick George Williams (born 8 October 1928), better known by the stage name Bill Maynard, is an English comedian and actor.Maynard was born at 5 Oak Cottages, Heath End, Farnham, Surrey, and attended Kibworth Beauchamp Grammar School in Leicestershire. He started as a variety performer, taking his professional surname from an advertising board (billboard) for Maynard's Wine Gums, a popular British confectionery at the time. He was placed fourth in the UK heat of the 1957 Eurovision Song Contest. With Terry Scott he appeared at Butlins Holiday Camp in Skegness and partnered him in the TV series Great Scott, It's Maynard!. Bill was part of the team that present the One O'Clock Show for Tyne Tees Television in Newcastle. (1959-1964). This was set to launch his TV Career in which he sang and presented. In 1973 Maynard worked with television actor and comedian Ronnie Barker in the (original) "Football Blues" which aired as "Spanners Eleven" and was part of a series called Seven of One. In 1975 he had a film role as Yorkshire farmer Hinchcliffe in It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet. At this time, he starred in the Yorkshire Television sitcoms Oh No, It's Selwyn Froggitt! where he played the eponymous lead role and for playing Fred Moffatt in The Gaffer. In the 1970s he also played small roles in some of the Carry On films, including Carry On Matron (1972) and Carry On Dick (1974).In 1984, Maynard stood against Tony Benn in the by-election at Chesterfield as an Independent Labour candidate. It was his only foray into politics and was purely to try to prevent Benn winning the seat and thus re-entering Parliament. Benn won the seat; Maynard took fourth place.He was the subject of This Is Your Life in 1974 when he was surprised by Eamonn Andrews.Maynard published his autobiography The Yo-Yo Man in November 1975 (by Leicester's Golden Eagle books). and "Stand Up...And Be Counted in 1997 Publisher: The Breedon books Publishing Company limited. In 1992 he returned to Yorkshire Television and began playing the lovable old rogue Claude Jeremiah Greengrass in the popular and long-running television series Heartbeat, remaining in the show until December 2000, and its spin-off series The Royal until 2003. Having originally retired from acting in 2000 following a series of strokes, he made a comeback to radio presenting in March 2003 for BBC Radio Leicester where he had last worked in 1968. His show, called Bill of Fare, aired every Sunday afternoon from 2pm--4pm for nearly five years, until he was dismissed without notice on 5 February 2008.In October 2009 he made a return to the stage when he appeared as the main guest of honour at the Pride of Bridlington Awards held in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Maynard was introduced to the audience by British politician the Rt Hon Greg Knight MP, who praised his work and described the actor as "one of Britain's best-loved comedy stars". Maynard made an entertaining and amusing speech and was mobbed by the audience, showing, even at 81, that he was still held in great affection by the public. On 15 October 2010 he appeared on The Alan Titchmarsh Show, where he revealed that the BBC had asked him to change his surname, so as he was walking around London, he saw a poster with Maynards Wine Gums, written on it so he said to himself "That'll do", and that's how he became known as "Bill Maynard".He has lived in Leicestershire for many years. Maynard married Muriel Linnett on 5 November 1949 and they had two children. She died in June 1983. In 1989 Maynard married Tonia Bern, widow of Donald Campbell. They divorced, as he said in an interview in The Daily Express about his time in Heartbeat. Maynard is a vegetarian. His son is Martin Maynard Williams.Maynard is now mobility impaired, usually using a mobility scooter or wheelchair, having suffered from multiple strokes. He remains in regular contact with fellow Heartbeat actor and friend, Derek Fowlds and Burt Kwouk.Despite his age and lack of mobility, Maynard is an avid poker player and takes part in tournaments in a range of casinos on several evenings per week, with considerable success.

1970s English suburbia: middle-aged homeowner Sid Abbot just wants to get on with building his illegal whisky still, but is frustrated by his workshy son, and otherworldly daughter. Then the rude and arrogant Ronald Baines and his family move in next door.
The film starred many of the main stars from the TV series but some were missing and were replaced; most notable Robin Stewart, who was replaced by Robin Askwith due to the fact he'd already been booked for the summer season on Bournemouth Pier and couldn't find time to also appear in the film.

Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Mr Anil Nandlall, speaking on the National Communications Network (NCN) yesterday reported that Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) has rejected the Opposition's amendments to the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AMLCFT) Bill.
After the CFATF Chairperson, Allyson Maynard-Gibson along with the Executive Director of CFATF had met with both the Government and Leader of the Opposition and outlined the importance of passing the bill and the consequences that would flow following non-compliance, the Government of Guyana was invited to send to the CFATF for examination by its technical personnel for compliance, a copy of both the Government's draft and the Opposition's draft of the legislation, he explained.
In an effort to arrive at compromise, Minister Nandlall had presented counter proposals to the Opposition's recommendations.
For the reason that Government's amendments were already approved by CFATF, Minister Nandlall said that Government sent a covering letter along with the Opposition's draft to the CFATF, "and as I predicted, the CFATF rejected every single one of the amendments that they are proposing," he said.
One of the proposals call for a removal of the role of the Attorney General from the process. "The CFATF's answer to that suggestion was that it is wrong. The Attorney General is put there because he/she is legal advisor to the Government and would be recipient of all legal materials that would come into the Government's position in relation to its relations with organisations such as the United Nations Security Council and other international organisations. And it is the Attorney General that will have to go to court for and behalf of the Government to seek certain orders to give effect to the Government's obligation under various treaties, and therefore the Office of the Attorney General is important in the legislative apparatus of the AMLCFT regime," Minister Nandlall explained.
The Opposition also proposed that Parliament appoint an authority to oversee and supervise the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), its operations and officers. Government has long maintained that this type of mechanism would undermine the functional autonomy of the FIU which by all international standards must be functionally independent and autonomous in the discharge of its day to day function, and as well, must be free and insulated from political interference and influence both apparent and real, a view shared by CFATF. Minister Nandlall noted that CFATF has rejected as well this proposal.
"The CFATF's advice on that particular proposal of the Opposition was that it does not meet the international standards, that the mechanism for appointment is politically contaminated and that the method or the mechanism that it creates removes from the FIU and its staff and directors that important requisite autonomy and functional independence," Minister Nandlall disclosed.
The third condemnation relates to what was submitted of the Opposition's draft with regards to seizure of cash. This was rejected on the basis that it was not part of the requirement and that it is a completely unnecessary imposition, Minister Nandlall said(GINA).

The Opposition also proposed that Parliament appoint an authority to oversee and supervise the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), its operations and officers. Government has long maintained that this type of mechanism would undermine the functional autonomy of the FIU which by all international standards must be functionally independent and autonomous in the discharge of its day to day function, and as well, must be free and insulated from political interference and influence both apparent and real, a view shared by CFATF. Minister Nandlall noted that CFATF has rejected as well this proposal.
"The CFATF's advice on that particular proposal of the Opposition was that it does not meet the international standards, that the mechanism for appointment is politically contaminated and that the method or the mechanism that it creates removes from the FIU and its staff and directors that important requisite autonomy and functional independence," Minister Nandlall disclosed.
The third condemnation relates to what was submitted of the Opposition's draft with regards to seizure of cash. This was rejected on the basis that it was not part of the requirement and that it is a completely unnecessary imposition, Minister Nandlall said(GINA).

One of the world’s largest and newest cruise ships was limping back to New Jersey Monday after running into a storm that damaged the vessel and injured four passengers, CNN reports. The Anthem of the Seas had turned around and headed back to Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, N.J., with its 4,500 passengers and 1,600 crew members for safety reasons, Royal Caribbean International said Monday....
