Arkie Deya Whiteley (6 November 1964 – 19 December 2001) was an Australian actress who appeared in television and films.
Arkie Whiteley's parents were the renowned Australian artist Brett Whiteley and cultural figure Wendy Whiteley. According to her obituary in The Times newspaper, when living with her parents at the Hotel Chelsea in New York as an infant her babysitter was US blues singer Janis Joplin. Arkie was educated at the prestigious Ascham School in Sydney and an alternative school - The Australian International School at North Ryde, Sydney.
Her television and film work included: A Town Like Alice, Razorback, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, Gallowglass, Princess Caraboo, and The Last Musketeer with Robson Green. She also appeared in the television series Prisoner as troubled prostitute/junkie Donna Mason, and in early episodes of A Country Practice.
After her father's overdose in 1992, she negotiated with the New South Wales government to purchase his studio and run it as a studio museum managed by the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Local agricultural magnate Trump is a sponsor for a local prison work program and the women get put in the fields to work off their sentence. Trump is dating the widowed judge in order to ensure a stable supply of cheap labor in order to undercut his competition. The prisoners suffer ill treatment, but the judge's son has signed on as a hired hand and begins to figure out the scam as he begins falling in love with Jane, and Penny dreams of making it big in showbiz.

Plot: Made at the time when the National Barn Dance program, on radio station WLS (for World's Largest Store and owned by Sears & Roebuck) in Chicago, was as big on a national scale listening audience as "The Grand Ole Opry" out of Nashville. The film highlights the leading acts then performing on the program; comedian Pat Buttram ('Pat Buttram (I)' (qv)), announcer Joe Kelly ('Joe Kelly (I)' (qv)),(before his Quiz Kids stint), Lulubelle & Scotty ('Scotty Wiseman' (qv) and wife 'Myrtle Wiseman' (qv))), the Dinning Sisters trio, Arkie the Arkansas Wood Chooper ('Luther W. Ossenbrink' (qv)) and the Hoosier Hot Shots quartet, whose musical abilities and creativity were vastly underrated. The piffle of a story begins in the early days of radio (Calvin Coolidge was President) but otherwise seems to take place in 1944, which made things easier on the Art and Set directors. Agent John Berke ('Charles Quigley' (qv)) thinks advertising executive Mitcham ('Robert Benchley' (qv)) wants to put together a program of hillbilly performers---a term used until later years when Nashville went uptown and changed it to Country & Western---and hies himself down to a country town where Lulubelle (Myrtle Wiseman) & Scotty (Scott Wiseman) hold a barn dance in their barn every Saturday night featuring themselves and their farm hands, although it is not quite clear just what chores the Dinning Sisters perform. He signs all hands to a contract, brings them to Chicago and learns that Mitcham has no intentions of putting together such a program to be sponsored by the Garvey Soup Company owned by the Garveys ('Charles Dingle' (qv) and 'Mabel Paige' (qv)). A bit of plot contrivance---a small bit--- changes all of that, and the National Barn Dance is born.

An interview with Wendy Whiteley, the wife of artist Brett and mother of actress Arkie, and behind a stunning secret Sydney garden. Studio 10 | 8:30am on TEN
Wendy Whiteley - on remaking a house and creating a garden at Lavender Bay Wendy Whiteley moved to Lavender Bay in 1969 ‘by chance’ with her husband, the artist Brett Whiteley, and young daughter Arkie. As she relates in this short interview and home tour, it wasn’t the house that made her stay but its special place beside the harbour and Arkie’s need for a somewhere to call home after years spent overseas in Europe, New York and Fiji. The house that Wendy, Brett and Arkie occupied was built in 1907 as a single family dwelling – one in a line of five constructed around the same time. By 1969, and possibly as early as 1929, the house was divided to accommodate tenants. The interior staircase was removed. Wendy and her family intially shared the place as separate tenants with the artists R...
For more than twenty years, Wendy has worked to create a public garden at the foot of her harbourside home in Sydney's Lavender Bay. Wendy Whiteley was artist Brett Whiteley's wife, muse and model. An artist herself, with a finely honed aesthetic sense, she also created the interiors at the heart of Brett's iconic paintings of their Lavender Bay home. When Brett died, followed by the death nine years later of their daughter Arkie, Wendy threw her grief and creativity into making an en...
