Saint Francis Xavier, S.J. (born Francisco de Jasso y Azpilicueta, 7 April 1506 – 3 December 1552), was a Navarrese-Basque Roman Catholic missionary, born in Javier (Xavier in Navarro-Aragonese or Xabier in Basque), Kingdom of Navarre (now part of Spain), and a co-founder of the Society of Jesus. He was a companion of St. Ignatius of Loyola and one of the first seven Jesuits who took vows of poverty and chastity at Montmartre, Paris in 1534. He led an extensive mission into Asia, mainly in the Portuguese Empire of the time and was influential in evangelization work, most notably in India. He also was the first Christian missionary to venture into Japan, Borneo, the Maluku Islands, and other areas. In those areas, struggling to learn the local languages and in the face of opposition, he had less success than he had enjoyed in India. Xavier was about to extend his missionary preaching to China but died in Shangchuan Island shortly before he could do so.
He was beatified by Pope Paul V on 25 October 1619 and canonized by Pope Gregory XV on 12 March 1622. In 1624 he was made co-patron of Navarre alongside Santiago. Known as the "Apostle of the Indies," and the "Apostle of Japan", he is considered to be one of the greatest missionaries since St. Paul. In 1927, Pope Pius XI published the decree "Apostolicorum in Missionibus" naming St. Francis Xavier, along with St. Thérèse of Lisieux, co-patron of all foreign missions. He is now co-patron saint of Navarre with San Fermin. The Day of Navarre (Día de Navarra) in Spain marks the anniversary of Saint Francis Xavier's death, on 3 December 1552.
St. Francis Xavier was born in the Kingdom of Navarre on April 7, 1506.
He studied at the University of Paris, where he met Peter Favre and Ignatius of Loyola.
In August 1534, Francis, along with Peter Favre and several others, made vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. The men planned to travel to the Holy Land to convert non-believers.
Pope Paul III approved the formation of their order in 1540. This order became The Society of Jesus, more popularly known as the Jesuits.
Pope Paul III asked the Jesuits to take a mission to India to help restore Christian virtue among the Portuguese settlers there.
Francis left for India in 1541 and was appointed as the Papal Nuncio to the East so that he could formally represent the Church. He arrived in the region of Goa, India in May 1542.
Francis ministered to the sick, the children and the native people of the Pearl Fishery Coast.
He traveled to Malacca where he met a Japanese man named Anjiro. Francis converted Anjiro to Christianity, making him the first Japanese convert.
In 1549, Francis departed for Japan. But most of the Japanese proved difficult to convert. He was able to establish a few congregations, but the religion was suppressed and Christianity became the subject of great persecution.
Francis returned to India in April 1552 and quickly decided to travel to China by invitation. But before he could get there, he became ill with a fever and died on December 3, 1552.
He was buried on an island off the coast of China. His body was later transferred to Malacca then Goa in December 1553. He remains buried in India in a silver casket encased in a glass.
Several of his bones have been removed as relics. His right arm, which he used to bless converts, is on display in Rome.
St. Francis Xavier was beatified By Pope Paul V in 1619, and canonized by Gregory XV on March 12, 1622. He is the patron of Catholic missions and his feast day is on December 3.

Ignatius of Loyola
Saint Ignatius of Loyola, SJ (Basque: Ignazio Loiolakoa, Spanish: Ignacio de Loyola) (c. October 23, 1491 – July 31, 1556) was a Spanish knight from a local Basque noble family, hermit, priest since 1537, and theologian, who founded the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and, on 19 April 1541, became its first Superior General. Ignatius emerged as a religious leader during the Counter-Reformation. Loyola's devotion to the Catholic Church was characterized by absolute obedience to the Pope.
After being seriously wounded in the Battle of Pamplona in 1521, he underwent a spiritual conversion while in recovery. De Vita Christi by Ludolph of Saxony purportedly inspired Loyola to abandon his previous military life and devote himself to labour for God, following the example of spiritual leaders such as Francis of Assisi. After experiencing a vision of the Virgin Mary and the infant Jesus at the shrine of Our Lady of Montserrat in March 1522, he went to Manresa, where he began praying for seven hours a day, often in a nearby cave, and formulating the fundamentals of the Spiritual Exercises. In September 1523, Loyola reached the Holy Land to settle there, but was sent back to Europe by the Franciscans.

Plot: In response to Father General Peter Hans Kolvenbach's request for a film honoring Ignatius Loyola, Peter Faber and Francis Xavier, Loyola Productions has produced AMDG - A WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH. Father General was quite specific about the theme and sweep of the project. He wanted the film to emphasize the charisms ("Heart," "Contemplation" and "Vision") associated with each of the first three Companions. At the same time, the film needed to reflect the global range of the contemporary Society. AMDG - A WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH is truly a global endeavor. Jesuit provinces worldwide funded the project. International requests were sent for video and film footage of the great variety of Jesuit apostolates. The overwhelming response included footage from provinces in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Africa. This raw material was assembled in Los Angeles by Loyola Productions' team of editors, guided by Jesuit producers Tom Rochford, Pierre Belanger, and Paul Campbell. Italian Jesuit Giuseppe Zito wrote the documentary narration. he film also contains original dramatic material, written by Jesuit Michael Breault, which take us into the immediate world of the three Companions. These scenes, featuring professional actors, were filmed on sound stages in Los Angeles by Loyola Productions (and a top-drawer crew of thirty). Seamlessly edited into the film, the dramatic scenes provide the thematic framework for the documentary footage.

Pope Paul III approved the formation of their order in 1540. This order became The Society of Jesus, more popularly known as the Jesuits.
Pope Paul III asked the Jesuits to take a mission to India to help restore Christian virtue among the Portuguese settlers there.
Francis left for India in 1541 and was appointed as the Papal Nuncio to the East so that he could formally represent the Church. He arrived in the region of Goa, India in May 1542.
Francis ministered to the sick, the children and the native people of the Pearl Fishery Coast.
He traveled to Malacca where he met a Japanese man named Anjiro. Francis converted Anjiro to Christianity, making him the first Japanese convert.
In 1549, Francis departed for Japan. But most of the Japanese proved difficult to convert. He was able to establish a few congregations, but the religion was suppressed and Christianity became the subject of great persecution.
Francis returned to India in April 1552 and quickly decided to travel to China by invitation. But before he could get there, he became ill with a fever and died on December 3, 1552.
He was buried on an island off the coast of China. His body was later transferred to Malacca then Goa in December 1553. He remains buried in India in a silver casket encased in a glass.
Several of his bones have been removed as relics. His right arm, which he used to bless converts, is on display in Rome.
St. Francis Xavier was beatified By Pope Paul V in 1619, and canonized by Gregory XV on March 12, 1622. He is the patron of Catholic missions and his feast day is on December 3.

St. Francis Xavier was born in the Kingdom of Navarre on April 7, 1506.
He studied at the University of Paris, where he met Peter Favre and Ignatius of Loyola.
In August 1534, Francis, along with Peter Favre and several others, made vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. The men planned to travel to the Holy Land to convert non-believers.

You will be delighted and enthralled watching the story of Reena and Nick unfold before you. Set in picturesque Adelaide the journey begins during the week with the Sangeet night held at the Pavillion on the Park. The night was filled with special indian dancing and international performances. Followed by the wedding day where Reena & Nick had what I call a double wedding day. First was the Indian Blessiing and lunch held at the Wine centre. Then the wedding ceremony in the afternoon held at St Francis Xavier followed by the first ever wedding reception at the new Adelaide Oval. Congratulations to a wonderful couple and thank you for allowing I Do Cinema to capture and be part of your special day.

It was one beautiful saturday and we were excited to film Ralph and Gabriela's special day, their Wedding Day.
The Church of St. Francis Xavier in the 16th Street was equally stunning and a holy solemn place to profess the wedding vows of Ralph and Gabriela. We were happy to film such unforgettable event and indeed it was a lovely day for everyone involved.
We had fun covering this day and here is the film that we took and shown during the reception. We were happy to witness the Love that wonderful day brings about the True Love Story of Ralph and Gabriela.

Xavier was about to extend his missionary preaching to China but died in Shangchuan Island shortly before he could do so.
He was beatified by Pope Paul V on 25 October 1619 and canonized by Pope Gregory XV on 12 March 1622. In 1624 he was made co-patron of Navarre alongside Santiago. Known as the "Apostle of the Indies," and the "Apostle of Japan", he is considered to be one of the greatest missionaries since St. Paul. In 1927, Pope Pius XI published the decree "Apostolicorum in Missionibus" naming St. Francis Xavier, along with St. Thérèse of Lisieux, co-patron of all foreign missions. Pope Paul III approved the formation of their order in 1540. This order became The Society of Jesus, more popularly known as the Jesuits.
Pope Paul III asked the Jesuits to take a mission to India to help restore Christian virtue among the Portuguese settlers there.
Francis left for India in 1541 and was appointed as the Papal Nuncio to the East so that he could formally represent the Church. He arrived in the region of Goa, India in May 1542.
Francis ministered to the sick, the children and the native people of the Pearl Fishery Coast.
He traveled to Malacca where he met a Japanese man named Anjiro. Francis converted Anjiro to Christianity, making him the first Japanese convert.
In 1549, Francis departed for Japan. But most of the Japanese proved difficult to convert. He was able to establish a few congregations, but the religion was suppressed and Christianity became the subject of great persecution.
Francis returned to India in April 1552 and quickly decided to travel to China by invitation. But before he could get there, he became ill with a fever and died on December 3, 1552.
He was buried on an island off the coast of China. His body was later transferred to Malacca then Goa in December 1553. He remains buried in India in a silver casket encased in a glass.
Several of his bones have been removed as relics. His right arm, which he used to bless converts, is on display in Rome.
St. Francis Xavier was beatified By Pope Paul V in 1619, and canonized by Gregory XV on March 12, 1622. He is the patron of Catholic missions and his feast day is on December 3.

St. Francis Xavier was born in the Kingdom of Navarre on April 7, 1506.
He studied at the University of Paris, where he met Peter Favre and Ignatius of Loyola.
In August 1534, Francis, along with Peter Favre and several others, made vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. The men planned to travel to the Holy Land to convert non-believers.

Come with us and share a special journey where Eastern collides with Western culture in the absolutely extravagant three day wedding celebration. You will be delighted and enthralled watching the story of Reena and Nick unfold before you. Set in picturesque Adelaide the journey begins during the week with the Sangeet night held at the Pavillion on the Park. The night was filled with special indian dancing and international performances. Followed by the wedding day where Reena & Nick had what I call a double wedding day. First was the Indian Blessiing and lunch held at the Wine centre. Then the wedding ceremony in the afternoon held at St Francis Xavier followed by the first ever wedding reception at the new Adelaide Oval. Congratulations to a wonderful couple and thank you for allowing I Do Cinema to capture and be part of your special day.

It was one beautiful saturday and we were excited to film Ralph and Gabriela's special day, their Wedding Day.
The Church of St. Francis Xavier in the 16th Street was equally stunning and a holy solemn place to profess the wedding vows of Ralph and Gabriela. We were happy to film such unforgettable event and indeed it was a lovely day for everyone involved.
We had fun covering this day and here is the film that we took and shown during the reception. We were happy to witness the Love that wonderful day brings about the True Love Story of Ralph and Gabriela.
