Thy Art Is Murder

Thy Art Is Murder is an Australian deathcore band from Blacktown (a suburb of Sydney, New South Wales). The band formed in 2006 and have released two EPs and three full-length albums and are currently signed to Distort in Canada and Nuclear Blast worldwide. Their 2008 EP Infinite Death, reached position no. 10 on the AIR Charts upon release, and their second full-length album Hate debuted at no. 35 on the ARIA Charts, making them the first extreme metal band to ever reach the Top 40 of this chart. The album also reached no. 1 on AIR and both no. 2 and no. 4 respectively on the USA and Canadian iTunes metal charts on its week of release.

History

Formation, EPs and The Adversary (2006-2010)

Formed in 2006, in the Western Sydney locality of Blacktown, the group originally consisted of vocalist Brendan van Ryn, guitarists Gary Markowski and Sean Delander, bassist Josh King and drummer Lee Stanton. Building on a loyal following in Western Sydney's deathcore scene, they recorded a three track demo This Hole Isn't Deep Enough for the Twelve of You. They returned to the studio in 2008 to record the EP Infinite Death, which gained them further attention for Van Ryn's misogynistic lyrics and song-titles. The EP reached number 10 on the AIR Charts.

Nuclear Blast

Nuclear Blast is an independent record label and mail order record distributor with subsidiaries in Germany, the United States and Brazil. The record label was founded in 1987 by Markus Staiger in Germany. Originally releasing hardcore punk records, the label moved on to releasing albums by melodic death metal, grindcore, power metal and black metal bands, as well as tribute albums.

More recent signings include names such as Decapitated, Danzig, Slayer,Cradle of Filth,Edguy, Nightwish, Symphony X, Suffocation, Machine Head and Fear Factory.

History

Nuclear Blast was formed in 1987 after founder Markus Staiger travelled throughout the United States for four weeks and saw a gig of his favorite band BL'AST!. The label's first release was a vinyl compilation called Senseless Death (NB 001) featuring US hardcore bands like Attitude, Sacred Denial, Impulse Manslaughter and others.

In August, 10th, 1997, Nuclear Blast held a concert in Longhorn/LKA, Stuttgart named 10 Years Nuclear Blast Festival at which the following bands performed:

Of Darkness...

Of Darkness... is a debut studio album released on February 1991 by the Swedish band Therion and it contains songs written in the early years of the band, during the 1980s. The album is indicated by the band itself as an end of its first era.

The album was re-released on 27 November 2000 under Nuclear Blast label as a part of The Early Chapters of Revelation box-set. It contains remastered songs, as well as four bonus tracks.

Recording and production

After releasing the third demo record Time Shall Tell EP in 1990, Therion got attention from the British label Deaf Records, a subsidiary of Peaceville Records, and signed the band's first contract.Of Darkness... was recorded in Swedish studio Sunlight in Stockholm from August to September 1990 and released on February 1991. The initial line-up has not been changed since its last production. The album was produced by Tomas Skogsberg and the band itself.

Songs, lyrical themes and influences

Of Darkness... consists of songs Christofer Johnsson had written in the years of 1987–1989. Despite having newer songs, the band opted to save them for their next full release. The album can be seen as a progressive death metal album in that it contained mainly influences that were not standard to death metal at the time. The album was influenced especially by the Celtic Frost's thrash metal album Into the Pandemonium. Its sound was compared to Dismember (melody), Suffocation and Morpheus (rhythm), Entombed, Napalm Death, Repulsion, Bolt Thrower (guitars), Carcass and other extreme thrash metal and grindcore bands of those days.

Circle II Circle

Circle II Circle is an American Heavy metal band from Tampa, Florida. The band was formed by former Savatage lead vocalist, Zachary Stevens, and long-time friend and band manager Dan Campbell in 2001. They play varied genres of metal including; heavy metal, power metal and progressive metal.

History

For a period of eight years from 1992 until August 2000, Zachary Stevens was the lead singer of Savatage. After five albums with the group, he left in 2000 citing family reasons. During the winter of 2001, Zak started his comeback with long-time friend and co founder of the band, Dan Campbell, co-writing material with former Savatage lead singer Jon Oliva and guitarist Chris Caffery what would become the songs for the Circle II Circle debut album, Watching in Silence. The second CIIC record The Middle of Nowhere featured Zak's vocals along with band members Paul Michael Stewart, Andy Lee, Tom Drennan and Evan Christopher.

The band's third release was a concept album, entitled Burden of Truth, based around the concept of Jesus' descendants. It was released on June 6, 2006. Recently, Stevens and the band signed with Intromental Management. Their fourth album, entitled Delusions of Grandeur was released on April 25, 2008.
