Tunisian authorities have restored calm to the country's main border crossing with Libya after local residents clashed with refugees camped out there.
Tunisian Defence Minister Abdul-Karim al-Zubaidi toured the Choucha refugee camp on Wednesday, where refugees from Libya held demonstrations, sparking attacks from local residents.
Some 3,500 refugees are housed in the Choucha camp, outside the border town of Ras Ajdir.
The police and military presence has been boosted in the area to prevent any further violence.
Refugees fleeing Libya, mainly foreign workers from Eritrea, Somalia and the Ivory Coast, have been living in the Choucha camp near the border for months.
The refugees have been demonstrating recently over fears they will be sent back to their home countries or abandoned in the camp.
On Tuesday, a mob of local residents wielding clubs and iron bars attacked the refugees.
Tunisian troops fired tear gas and warning shots to stop the fighting.
UN sources said the UN refugee agency had withdrawn its staff from the camp because of the unrest.
One refugee, Michael from Eritrea, said that his leg was broken during the fighting, while another showed his destroyed CD player.
It was not immediately clear whether the fire was deliberately set.

STORYLINE
Israelis enjoyed the day off work on Tuesday and engaged in some retail therapy as they waited for the results of the Israeli general elections.
Election day in Israel has traditionally been a day in which most Israelis do not work but shops and businesses stay open.
Some businesses had special offers on Tuesday of up to 70 percent off as a way to encourage shoppers to spend.
One shopper, Yonatan, said he went to the mall after voting, "to walk, to drink coffee, to the see the people of Israel live".
Tel Aviv shopkeeper Gideon Peled said he hoped the day off would lead to more customers walking through his door and spending money.
Meanwhile, the two front-runners in the race to rule Israel made last-minute appeals to voters as voting got underway in a close general election whose outcome could determine the course of Mideast peace negotiations.
Opinion polls for months have predicted a decisive victory for the hard-line Likud Party, headed by former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
But new polls released over the weekend showed the Kadima Party, led by moderate Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, closing the gap.
Livni was one of the architects of Israel's offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip last month and has been striving to present an image of herself as tough but sensible.
Neither is seen getting more than 30 seats in the 120-seat parliament, however, meaning the winner will have to form a coalition with smaller parties.
Most polling stations were scheduled to close at 10pm (2000 GMT, 3 pm EST).
Exit polls were expected soon after the polls close, with the first official results to be announced before dawn on Wednesday.

STORYLINE:
American travellers jammed two of the busiest airports on the US East Coast on Thursday, as the Christmas holiday getaway moved into full gear.
Ronald Reagan Washington National and Washington Dulles International Airports had already seen 120-thousand travellers on Wednesday alone.
Thursday was expected to bring the tally to a quarter of a million, with a 20-percent increase in holiday airline travel compared to last year.
The Transportation Security Administration urged novice travellers to go to its website ahead of time and read up on security rules.
Passengers are being urged to arrive two hours early for domestic flights and three for international ones.
Travellers around the country were being affected by a large winter storm pounding the United States'' Midwest, which has shattered snowfall records, forced emergency ploughs off the roads and caused the collapse of at least one home.
Parts of the South and Midwest have been paralysed under a blanket of wind-driven snow.
The storm has blocked pre-Christmas travel from Michigan Lakes to Texas, and Ohio to Wyoming. National Guard troops were rescuing stranded drivers in the state of Indiana.
The weather is setting records from across the Midwest.
In one part of Indiana 19 inches piled up in a single day.

Foreign Correspondent (1940) Alfred Hitchcock, Clan Sinclair and the Pan Am Böeing 314 Clipper
Predictive Programming in Hitchcock Movies | Foreign Correspondent is a 1940 American spy thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It tells the story of an American reporter who tries to expose enemy spies in Britain, a series of events involving a continent-wide conspiracy that eventually leads to the events of a fictionalized World War II. The editor of the New York Globe, Mr. Powers (Harry Davenport), is concerned about the "crisis" in Europe, the growing power of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany, and the inability of celebrated foreign correspondents to get answers about whether or not war will ensue. After searching for a good, tough crime reporter for a fresh viewpoint, he appoints Johnny Jones (Joel McCrea) as a foreign correspondent, under the pen name Huntley Haverstock.
The reporter's first assignment is Stephen Fisher (Herbert Marshall), leader of the Universal Peace Party, at an event held by Fisher in honour of a Dutch diplomat named Van Meer (Albert Bassermann). On the way to the party, Haverstock sees Van Meer entering the car that is to take him to the party, and runs to interview him; Van Meer invites him to ride along. At the party, Haverstock meets Fisher's daughter, Carol (Laraine Day). Van Meer disappears mysteriously. Later, Fisher informs the guests that Van Meer, who was supposed to be the guest of honor, will not be attending the party; instead he will be at a political conference in Amsterdam.
At the conference, Van Meer is shot in front of a large crowd by a man disguised as a photographer. Haverstock commandeers a car to follow the assassin's getaway car. The car he jumps into happens to have in it Carol and Scott ffolliott (George Sanders), another reporter, who explains that the capital letter in his surname was dropped in memory of an executed ancestor. The group follows the assassin to a windmill in the countryside.
While Carol and ffolliott go for help, Haverstock searches the windmill and finds a live Van Meer; the man who was killed was an impostor. The old man has been drugged and is unable to tell Haverstock anything.
England and France declare war on Germany. While Haverstock, ffoliott and the Fishers are on a Short Empire plane to America, Fisher confesses his misdeeds to his daughter.

The 1940 Alfred Hitchcock film Foreign Correspondent features the 314 in a pivotal in-flight disaster. The Boeing 314 Clipper was a long-range flying boat produced by the Boeing Airplane Company between 1938 and 1941. Twelve Clippers were built; nine were brought into service for Pan Am and later transferred to the U.S. military.

Admiral Sir Hugh Francis Paget Sinclair, KCB (18 August 1873 -- 4 November 1939), nicknamed "Quex". Between 1919 and 1921, he was Director of British Naval Intelligence, and helped to set up the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS, commonly MI6) before the Second World War.
Sinclair joined the Royal Navy in 1886 and entered the Naval Intelligence Division at the beginning of the First World War. He became Director of the Division in February 1919, and later head of the Submarine Service. He became the second director of SIS in 1923.
Beginning in 1919 he attempted to absorb the counter-intelligence service MI5 into the SIS to strengthen Britain's efforts against Bolshevism, an idea was finally rejected in 1925. The SIS remained small and under-funded during the inter-war years. By 1936 Sinclair realized that the Gestapo had penetrated several SIS stations and Claude Dansey, who had been removed from his station in Rome, set up Z organization, intended to work independently of the compromised SIS.
In 1938, with a second war looming, Sinclair set up Section D, dedicated to sabotage. In spring of 1938, using his own money, he bought Bletchley Park to be a wartime intelligence station.
Sinclair was asked in December 1938 to prepare a dossier on Adolf Hitler, for the attention of Lord Halifax, the Foreign Secretary, and Neville Chamberlain, the Prime Minister.
On 29 October, he underwent an operation for his cancer and died on 4 November 1939, five days before the Venlo incident.

A recently married couple visited a park in central Istanbul on Saturday in a show of support for the urban oasis that has become a symbol of Turkish anti-government resistance.

Istanbul's Taksim Square - adjacent to which is the green space of Gezi Park - has been at the heart of a fierce standoff between government forces and demonstrators.
But on Saturday, against a backdrop of rubble and burned vehicles, it was the setting of a romantic getaway for the newly weds.
"Taksim resists and will continue to resist. We invite everybody to join us," said the bride.
Meanwhile in Sincan, a suburb of the capital Ankara, thousands gathered at a pro-government rally to show support for the country's embattled prime minister.

STORYLINE
A recently married couple visited a park in central Istanbul on Saturday in a show of support for the urban oasis that has become a symbol of Turkish anti-government resistance.

"Unfortunately we had our wedding date set before all this started so we had to leave and get the wedding over with. Then we came back here to be with our comrades, our fellow revolutionaries," said the groom.

DR. JOHN HENRIK CLARKE: Christianity Before Jesus Christ - Scientific & Historic Evidence!
DARK MATTER PARADIGM | 10, 2013 - HISTORY - Nothing is new or original in Christianity. All features and components of what is now known as Christianity were present in mythologies that flourished before Jesus is alleged to have lived, and the following presentation from the master teacher, John Henrik Clarke, shows how those myths evolved into today's religion. Many would dismiss the idea of Christianity before Christ as being ridiculous without looking at any evidence. Yet some church fathers have admitted that the Christian religion did in fact exist before the Christian era. St. Augustine himself said, that the very thing which is now cal

Goofy Cartoons Non-Stop!
Goofy is a funny animal cartoon character created in 1932 at Walt Disney Productions. Goofy is a tall, anthropomorphic dog, and typically wears a turtle neck and vest, with pants, shoes, white gloves, and a tall hat originally designed as a rumpled fedora. Goofy is a close friend of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck and is one of Disney's most popular characters. He is normally characterized as extremely clumsy and dim-witted, yet this interpretation isn't always definitive; occasionally Goofy is shown as intuitive and clever, albeit in his own unique, eccentric way.
Goofy debuted in animated cartoons, starting in 1932 with Mickey's Revue. During

His love for education, African peoples and the history of African peoples, translated directly into his work as a Pan-Africanist writer, historian and lecturer. He played a pivotal role in the creation of Africana studies and several professional institutions in academia. Interestingly enough, Dr. Clarke climbed to great academic heights without ever having earned a high school diploma.
Born on January 1, 1915, in Union Springs, Alabama, John Henry Clark was the youngest child of John and Willie Ella Clark, sharecroppers. The Clark family eventually moved to Columbus, Georgia, in pursuit of better fortunes and the dream of owning their own land. Dr. Clarke, the future educator, never formally attended high school, dropping out of school in the 8th grade. Despite his mother’s desire that he pursue the family vocation of farming, in 1933, at the age of 18, he left the South as part of the Great Migration of blacks to the North, and headed to Harlem, New York.
Dr. Clarke flourished in the fertile intellectual and cultural climate of the Harlem Renaissance. He joined study circles such as the Harlem History Club and the Harlem Writers' Workshop. In the Harlem History Club, he met John G. Jackson, Willis N. Higgins, and Arthur A. Schomburg, who became mentors in his self-taught study of African history. Through his association with members of the Harlem History Club as well as Richard B. Moore, J.A. Rogers, William Leo Hansberry and Josef ben Jochannan, Dr. Clarke learned much about black history. He immersed himself in the tradition that researched, wrote, and taught black history away from the formal institutions of higher learning.
Despite his intensive work in black history, Dr. Clarke actually began his career in creative writing, with his first published work being a collection of poetry. He penned over fifty short stories, including "The Boy Who Painted Christ Black," his most famous. He was co-founder of the Harlem Quarterly and book review editor of the Negro History Bulletin. He sharpened his skills as a writer for the black-owned Pittsburgh Courier, the Ghana Evening News and later as associate editor of the magazine, Freedomways. He eventually changed his name to John Henrik, in honor of the playwright Henrik Ibsen; he also added an “e” to his surname, spelling it “Clarke.”
During the Black Power movement in the 1960s, Dr. Clarke championed the redefinition of Africans in world history and the study of the African-American experience. In 1968, along with the Black Caucus of the African Studies Association, Dr. Clarke founded the African Heritage Studies Association, and was its first president. In 1969 he was appointed as the founding chairman of the Black and Puerto Rican Studies Department at Hunter College in New York City. He was also a founding member of the Black Academy of Arts and Letters and the African-American Scholars' Council.

St. Augustine himself said, that the very thing which is now called the Christian religion existed among the ancient Egyptians also, nor was it wanting from the inception of the human race until the coming of Christ in the flesh, at which point the true religion which was already in existence began to be called Christian. This is an important lecture for those interested enough to look at valid research.
John Henrik Clarke (born John Henry Clark, January 1, 1915 -- July 16, 1998), was a Pan-Africanist American writer, historian, professor, and a pioneer in the creation of Africana studies and professional institutions in academia starting in the late 1960s. He was Professor of African World History and in 1969 founding chairman of the Department of Black and Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College of the City University of New York. He also was the Carter G. Woodson Distinguished Visiting Professor of African History at Cornell University's Africana Studies and Research Center. In 1968 along with the Black Caucus of the African Studies Association, Clarke founded the African Heritage Studies Association. Born on January 1, 1915, in Union Springs, Alabama, as the eldest child to sharecroppers John (Doctor) and Willie Ella (Mays) Clark, he renamed himself John Henrik (after rebel playwright Henrik Ibsen) and added an "e" to his surname Clarke. Counter to his father's wishes for him to be a farmer, Clarke left Alabama in 1933 by freight train and went to Harlem, New York, where he pursued scholarship and activism. Prominent during the Black Power movement, Clarke advocated for studies on the African-American experience and the place of Africans in world history. He challenged academic historians and helped shift the way African history was studied and taught. Dr. John Henrik Clarke was renowned for his dedication to the study of African peoples throughout history, both in Africa and the diaspora. Dr. Clarke was also widely regarded as a devoted and brilliant educator.
Dr. Clarke also played an important role in the early history of Cornell University's Africana Studies & Research Center. He was the Carter G. Woodson Distinguished Visiting Professor of African History at the Center in the 1970s, and made an invaluable contribution to the establishment of its curricula. In 1985, the Faculty of the Africana Studies and Research Center at Cornell University named the John Henrik Clarke Library after him.
In keeping with his singular educational path and impressive teaching history, Dr. Clarke was the author of numerous articles that have appeared in leading scholarly journals. He also served as the author, contributor, or editor of 24 books, including collections of his own short stories. At the age of 78, John Henrik Clarke earned a doctorate from the non-accredited Pacific Western University, since renamed California Miramar University, in Los Angeles.
It is easy to understand why Dr. Clarke is widely recognized as a pioneer in the field of Africana Studies. He challenged the views of academic historians and helped transform the way African history was studied and taught. He was an academic pioneer and an outspoken champion of the accurate re-telling of the history of African people.
John Henrik Clarke died on July 16, 1998. He is buried in Green Acres Cemetery, Columbus, Georgia.

In 1968, along with the Black Caucus of the African Studies Association, Dr. Clarke founded the African Heritage Studies Association, and was its first president. In 1969 he was appointed as the founding chairman of the Black and Puerto Rican Studies Department at Hunter College in New York City. Dr. John Henrik Clarke was renowned for his dedication to the study of African peoples throughout history, both in Africa and the diaspora. Dr. Clarke was also widely regarded as a devoted and brilliant educator.
“History is a clock that people use to tell their political and cultural time of day. It is a compass they use to find themselves on the map of human geography. It tells them where they are but, more importantly, what they must be.”

The search for unity
Dr. John Henrik Clarke was renowned for his dedication to the study of African peoples throughout history, both in Africa and the diaspora. Dr. Clarke was also widely regarded as a devoted and brilliant educator.

During the 1930s he was used extensively as part of a comedy trio with Mickey and Donald. Starting in 1939, Goofy was given his own series of shorts which were popular in the 1940s and early '50s. Two Goofy shorts were nominated for an Oscar: How to Play Football and Aquamania. He also co-starred in a short series with Donald. Three more Goofy shorts were produced in the 1960s after which Goofy was only seen in television and comics. He returned to theatrical animation in 1983 with Mickey's Christmas Carol. His last theatrical appearance was How to Hook Up Your Home Theater in 2007. Goofy has also been featured in television, most extensively in Goof Troop (1992--1993), as well as House of Mouse (2000--2003) and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (2006--2014).
Originally known as Dippy Dawg, the character is more commonly known simply as "Goofy," a name used in his short film series. In his 1950s persona, Goofy was called George Geef, or G. G. Geef, implying that "Goofy" was merely a nickname. In Goofy Gymnastics (1949) he fills out a coupon with the name James Boyd.[1] Sources from the Goof Troop continuity give the character's full name as Goofy Goof, or G. G. Goof, likely a reference to the 1950s name. In many other sources, both animated and comics, the surname Goof continues to be used. In other 2000s-era comics the character's full name has occasionally been given as Goofus D. Dawg.
