1958 VW Bus Road Trip, Part 4, Travel adventure, Old crank start split safari window hippie van!
1958 VW Bus Road Trip, Part 4, Travel adventure, Old crank start split safari window hippie van!
We found this bus in New Mexico where it sat for over 30 years in an isolated desert location. We got it running then headed over the rocky mountains in this totally awesome cross county adventure. Come along for a ride with the family in the majic bus as we visit secret vw junkyards and long forgotten roads in the beautiful rocky mountain wilderness. This video is one in a continuing series about this amazing bus find. A must see for vw nuts, dead heads, hippies at heart and all those with restless rambling souls. Special thanks to Jim Campbell and all the kind people we met along the way who helped make this impossible dream into a sublime reality. Peace and love everyone! Thank you! Peace! Please watch all my great sequels to see the awesome adventures road tripping with me in a 58 safari bus ressurected from the summer of love. These vids are cracklin' with positive vibes and energy! I love life. Peace!!! LATEST UPDATE: In keeping with the spirt of continuous energy flow through non greed based attachment to materialism I enjoyed and then sold the '58 bus for a very fair price to support my family. Copy and paste this address for more info: 58safaribus.webs.com I am now looking for another old vw bus to buy and restore and take on yet another adventure. The older the better. I paid $1100 for Glinda as-is in the middle of the NM desert so you can see what I am willing to endure to locate my next vw bus restoration project. What majic bus will be next? If you have or ...

1967 VW Type 3 Fastback: "Inge"
1967 VW Type 3 Fastback: "Inge"
Portland, OR: excellent, nearly all-original 1967 VW Type 3 Fastback. Third owner, has been with me for nearly 10 years. No rust beyond superficial surface dings. Pan is 100% solid. Chrome is very good, though has some minor areas of pitting. Never any sort of major accident (front and rear are clean), though there is evidence of long-ago passenger side door repair (done poorly). Glass is perfect. Motor is 98% original and "all there." Original interior is excellent (no rips / tears; front seats could use new foams), all correct trim pieces are there, dash is perfect. Everything works but clock may need attention (regreasing, etc.) Runs, drives, shifts, brakes wonderfully. COMES WITH: original delivery papers and early records; original uber rare *RED TYPE 3 WOLFSBURG FLOORMAT* though it is very well used and has always had a hole at the heel near skinny pedal; red coco mats, a bit faded; *extra set of correct Fastback popout window seals* (sourced from a donor car; not NOS, but very good to excellent condition); original AM radio; NOS German door seals; NOS Type 3 muffler; seals for turn signals and original rear turn signal lenses. Also have small box of original parts. NEEDS: has a slow oil leak on passenger side valve cover; possible new battery (this one is new but has been driven so infrequently that it doesn't crank well unless jumped); could use carb tuning or rebuilds and general tune-up attention; needs new window rubber seals (front and rear); could use new ...

This 4 part series shows how to lower the front end of a ball joint VW Beetle using drop spindles. To go any lower would require an adjustable beam or pie cut chassis. To lower the rear, see my videos for lowering the rear of the VW type 3 which is almost the same.
