Allah says in the Qur'an:
"Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree.
And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree?
The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.
The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.
Peace it is until the emergence of dawn."
Surah Al-Qadr (The Night of Decree) Qur'an (97:1-5)

How should we observe Laylat al-Qadr and when is it?
Firstly:
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadaan as he never did at any other time, praying, reading Qur'aan and making du'aa'. Al-Bukhaari and Muslim narrated from 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that when the last ten days of Ramadaan came, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would stay up at night and would wake his family up, and would abstain from marital relations. Ahmad and Muslim narrated that he used to used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadaan as he never did at any other time.
Secondly:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) enjoined staying up and praying on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whoever stays up and prays on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven." Agreed upon. This hadeeth indicates that it is prescribed to observe Laylat al-Qadr by spending the night in prayer.
Thirdly:
One of the best du'aa's that may be recited on Laylat al-Qadr is that which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) taught to 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her). Al-Tirmidhi narrated, and classed the report as saheeh, that 'Aa'ishah said: "I said, 'O Messenger of Allaah, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say on that night?' He said, 'Say: Allaahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibb al-'afwa fa'affu 'anni (O Allaah, You are forgiving and You love forgiveness, so forgive me)."
Fourthly:
With regard to specifying which night of Ramadaan is Laylat al-Qadr, this needs specific evidence, but the odd-numbered nights during the last ten nights are more likely than others, and the night of the twenty-seventh is the most likely to be Laylat al-Qadr, because that is mentioned in the ahaadeeth.
Fifthly:
With regard to innovations, they are not permissible during Ramadaan or at other times. It was proven that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whoever innovates anything in this matter of ours that is not part of it will have it rejected." According to another report, "Whoever does any action that is not part of this matter of ours will have it rejected."
We know of no basis for the celebrations that are held during some nights of Ramadaan. The best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and the worst of matters are those which are innovated (bid'ah).

Laylat Al-Qadr By Sheikh Abu Ahmad

We are now past the half way through the Blessed Month of Ramadhan Subhan'Allah
The Night Of Power Will be arriving very soon. It is upon us to recite Surah Al-Qadr Insha'Allah.
Here are some virtues:
If a person recites this surah ten times, one thousand sins of his are forgiven. If recited in compulsory prayers, all previous sins are forgiven. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) that reciting this surah once carries the reward of fasting for the whole month of Ramadhan. Constant recitation of this surah, increases sustenance.
If surah Qadr is recited 11 times before sleeping, the reciter remains safe the whole night. Recitation in front of an enemy keeps one safe from his evil designs. For the paying back of loans, one should seek forgiveness and should recite surah Qadr as many times as possible.
Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (a.s.) said that for pious children, one should keep his right hand on his wife and recite this surah 7 times before going into her. If recited seven times on the grave of a believer, his sins will be forgiven.

Which night is the Night of Qadr?
There is no doubt that the Night of Qadr is in the month of Ramadan, because combination of the Qur'anic verses [concerning it] attest to this fact. From one point it states that the Qur'an was revealed during the month of Ramadan (refer to verse 2:185). And from another point it states that it was revealed in the Night of Qadr (in the verses under discussion).
But which night of the month of Ramadan is it? There is a good deal of discussion concerning this matter, and numerous explanations have been given. From among them the first, seventeenth, nineteenth, twenty-first, twenty-third, twenty-seventh and twenty-ninth nights have been mentioned. Even so, what is well-known and recognized in the traditions is the fact that it is on the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan, and it is the twenty-first or twenty-third night. That's why we read in a tradition that the Noble Prophet kept vigil during the last ten nights of this blessed month.
It is related in a tradition from Imam Sadiq that "the Night of Qadr is the twenty-first or the twenty-third night." Even when the narrator of the tradition insisted on asking which one of these two nights and asked, if I cannot keep vigil in both nights which one should I choose? The Imam did not specify and said, "How easy are two nights for what you seek."

Laylat al-Qadr
Laylat al-Qadr (Arabic: لیلة القدر) (also known as Shab-e-Qadr , loaned from Persian), variously rendered in English as the Night of Decree, Night of Power, Night of Value, Night of Destiny, or Night of Measures, is in Islamic belief the night when the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the Islamic prophet Muhammad. It is one of the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan and is better than 1000 months of worship. Muslims believe that on this night the blessings and mercy of Allah are abundant, sins are forgiven, supplications are accepted, and that the annual decree is revealed to the angels who also descend to earth.
Revelation to Muhammad
Muslims believe that Laylat al-Qadr was the night when the Quran was revealed to Muhammad from Allah. Most Muslims believe that revelation of the Quran occurred in two phases, with the first phase being the revelation in its entirety on Laylat al-Qadr to the angel Gabriel (Jibril in Arabic) in the lowest heaven, and then the subsequent verse-by-verse revelation to Muhammad by Gabriel, across 23 years. The revelation started in 610 CE at the Hira cave on Mount Nur in Mecca. The first Sura that was revealed was Sūrat al-ʿAlaq (in Arabic العلق). During the first revelation the first five verses of this Sura, or chapter, were revealed.

Night
Night or nighttime (sp. night-time or night time) is the period of time between the sunset and the sunrise when the Sun is below the horizon.
This occurs after dusk. The opposite of night is day (or "daytime" to distinguish it from "day" as used for a 24-hour period). The start and end points of time of a night vary based on factors such as season, latitude, longitude and timezone.
At any given time, one side of the planet Earth is bathed in light from the Sun (the daytime) and the other side of the Earth is in the shadow caused by the Earth blocking the light of the sun. This shadow is called the umbra. Natural illumination is still provided by a combination of moonlight, planetary light, starlight, diffuse zodiacal light, gegenschein, and airglow. In some circumstances, bioluminescence, aurorae, and lightning can provide some illumination. The glow provided by artificial illumination is sometimes referred to as light pollution because it can interfere with observational astronomy and ecosystems.

A lecture not to be missed, What is The Night of Power (Laylat al-Qadr) the most Important night of Ramadan, when is this night and what should we do on this night?

Allah says in the Qur'an:
"Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree.
And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree?
The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.
The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.
Peace it is until the emergence of dawn."
Surah Al-Qadr (The Night of Decree) Qur'an (97:1-5)

How should we observe Laylat al-Qadr and when is it?
Firstly:
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadaan as he never did at any other time, praying, reading Qur'aan and making du'aa'. Al-Bukhaari and Muslim narrated from 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that when the last ten days of Ramadaan came, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would stay up at night and would wake his family up, and would abstain from marital relations. Ahmad and Muslim narrated that he used to used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadaan as he never did at any other time.
Secondly:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) enjoined staying up and praying on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whoever stays up and prays on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven." Agreed upon. This hadeeth indicates that it is prescribed to observe Laylat al-Qadr by spending the night in prayer.
Thirdly:
One of the best du'aa's that may be recited on Laylat al-Qadr is that which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) taught to 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her). Al-Tirmidhi narrated, and classed the report as saheeh, that 'Aa'ishah said: "I said, 'O Messenger of Allaah, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say on that night?' He said, 'Say: Allaahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibb al-'afwa fa'affu 'anni (O Allaah, You are forgiving and You love forgiveness, so forgive me)."
Fourthly:
With regard to specifying which night of Ramadaan is Laylat al-Qadr, this needs specific evidence, but the odd-numbered nights during the last ten nights are more likely than others, and the night of the twenty-seventh is the most likely to be Laylat al-Qadr, because that is mentioned in the ahaadeeth.
Fifthly:
With regard to innovations, they are not permissible during Ramadaan or at other times. It was proven that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whoever innovates anything in this matter of ours that is not part of it will have it rejected." According to another report, "Whoever does any action that is not part of this matter of ours will have it rejected."
We know of no basis for the celebrations that are held during some nights of Ramadaan. The best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and the worst of matters are those which are innovated (bid'ah).

Laylat Al-Qadr By Sheikh Abu Ahmad

We are now past the half way through the Blessed Month of Ramadhan Subhan'Allah
The Night Of Power Will be arriving very soon. It is upon us to recite Surah Al-Qadr Insha'Allah.
Here are some virtues:
If a person recites this surah ten times, one thousand sins of his are forgiven. If recited in compulsory prayers, all previous sins are forgiven. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) that reciting this surah once carries the reward of fasting for the whole month of Ramadhan. Constant recitation of this surah, increases sustenance.
If surah Qadr is recited 11 times before sleeping, the reciter remains safe the whole night. Recitation in front of an enemy keeps one safe from his evil designs. For the paying back of loans, one should seek forgiveness and should recite surah Qadr as many times as possible.
Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (a.s.) said that for pious children, one should keep his right hand on his wife and recite this surah 7 times before going into her. If recited seven times on the grave of a believer, his sins will be forgiven.

Which night is the Night of Qadr?
There is no doubt that the Night of Qadr is in the month of Ramadan, because combination of the Qur'anic verses [concerning it] attest to this fact. From one point it states that the Qur'an was revealed during the month of Ramadan (refer to verse 2:185). And from another point it states that it was revealed in the Night of Qadr (in the verses under discussion).
But which night of the month of Ramadan is it? There is a good deal of discussion concerning this matter, and numerous explanations have been given. From among them the first, seventeenth, nineteenth, twenty-first, twenty-third, twenty-seventh and twenty-ninth nights have been mentioned. Even so, what is well-known and recognized in the traditions is the fact that it is on the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan, and it is the twenty-first or twenty-third night. That's why we read in a tradition that the Noble Prophet kept vigil during the last ten nights of this blessed month.
It is related in a tradition from Imam Sadiq that "the Night of Qadr is the twenty-first or the twenty-third night." Even when the narrator of the tradition insisted on asking which one of these two nights and asked, if I cannot keep vigil in both nights which one should I choose? The Imam did not specify and said, "How easy are two nights for what you seek."

Allah says in the Qur'an:
"Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree.
And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree?
The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.
The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.
Peace it is until the emergence of dawn."
Surah Al-Qadr (The Night of Decree) Qur'an (97:1-5)

How should we observe Laylat al-Qadr and when is it?
Firstly:
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadaan as he never did at any other time, praying, reading Qur'aan and making du'aa'. Al-Bukhaari and Muslim narrated from 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that when the last ten days of Ramadaan came, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would stay up at night and would wake his family up, and would abstain from marital relations. Ahmad and Muslim narrated that he used to used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadaan as he never did at any other time.
Secondly:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) enjoined staying up and praying on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whoever stays up and prays on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven." Agreed upon. This hadeeth indicates that it is prescribed to observe Laylat al-Qadr by spending the night in prayer.
Thirdly:
One of the best du'aa's that may be recited on Laylat al-Qadr is that which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) taught to 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her). Al-Tirmidhi narrated, and classed the report as saheeh, that 'Aa'ishah said: "I said, 'O Messenger of Allaah, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say on that night?' He said, 'Say: Allaahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibb al-'afwa fa'affu 'anni (O Allaah, You are forgiving and You love forgiveness, so forgive me)."
Fourthly:
With regard to specifying which night of Ramadaan is Laylat al-Qadr, this needs specific evidence, but the odd-numbered nights during the last ten nights are more likely than others, and the night of the twenty-seventh is the most likely to be Laylat al-Qadr, because that is mentioned in the ahaadeeth.
Fifthly:
With regard to innovations, they are not permissible during Ramadaan or at other times. It was proven that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whoever innovates anything in this matter of ours that is not part of it will have it rejected." According to another report, "Whoever does any action that is not part of this matter of ours will have it rejected."
We know of no basis for the celebrations that are held during some nights of Ramadaan. The best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and the worst of matters are those which are innovated (bid'ah).

Laylat Al-Qadr By Sheikh Abu Ahmad

We are now past the half way through the Blessed Month of Ramadhan Subhan'Allah
The Night Of Power Will be arriving very soon. It is upon us to recite Surah Al-Qadr Insha'Allah.
Here are some virtues:
If a person recites this surah ten times, one thousand sins of his are forgiven. If recited in compulsory prayers, all previous sins are forgiven. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) that reciting this surah once carries the reward of fasting for the whole month of Ramadhan. Constant recitation of this surah, increases sustenance.
If surah Qadr is recited 11 times before sleeping, the reciter remains safe the whole night. Recitation in front of an enemy keeps one safe from his evil designs. For the paying back of loans, one should seek forgiveness and should recite surah Qadr as many times as possible.
Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (a.s.) said that for pious children, one should keep his right hand on his wife and recite this surah 7 times before going into her. If recited seven times on the grave of a believer, his sins will be forgiven.

Which night is the Night of Qadr?
There is no doubt that the Night of Qadr is in the month of Ramadan, because combination of the Qur'anic verses [concerning it] attest to this fact. From one point it states that the Qur'an was revealed during the month of Ramadan (refer to verse 2:185). And from another point it states that it was revealed in the Night of Qadr (in the verses under discussion).
But which night of the month of Ramadan is it? There is a good deal of discussion concerning this matter, and numerous explanations have been given. From among them the first, seventeenth, nineteenth, twenty-first, twenty-third, twenty-seventh and twenty-ninth nights have been mentioned. Even so, what is well-known and recognized in the traditions is the fact that it is on the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan, and it is the twenty-first or twenty-third night. That's why we read in a tradition that the Noble Prophet kept vigil during the last ten nights of this blessed month.
It is related in a tradition from Imam Sadiq that "the Night of Qadr is the twenty-first or the twenty-third night." Even when the narrator of the tradition insisted on asking which one of these two nights and asked, if I cannot keep vigil in both nights which one should I choose? The Imam did not specify and said, "How easy are two nights for what you seek."
