Disney Animation took to
Facebook live this morning to announce plans for Wreck it Ralph 2. Not only that, but the
Mouse House has put the sequel on the release schedule for March 9, 2018, which takes the spot previously held by the Disney Animation film
Gigantic, pushing that
Jack and the Beanstalk-inspired fairy tale back to
November 21, 2018.
Director Rich Moore is returning to helm the follow-up, which will find
Ralph wreaking havoc on the internet as the world of
Wreck-It Ralph moves away from arcades and into the virtual space.
In answer to the #OscarsSoWhite backlash, the
Academy of
Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has unveiled a list of actors, writers and directors that have been invited to join the voting membership for 2016, with diversity at the forefront of the move. 683 invites have gone out, over twice as many as last year, which saw 322 invitations extended. Of the new members invited to join the
Oscar voting body, 46% are female and 41% are people of color, bringing the Academy’s totals to 27% female and 11% non-white.
Last week, Lucasfilm revealed a number of details for
Star Wars Celebration Europe, including a
Rogue One panel featuring director
Gareth Edwards. But that won’t be the only Star Wars filmmaker in attendance.
Yesterday, Luscasfilm announced
Star Wars: Episode VIII director
Rian Johnson and the directing duo behind the Han
Solo anthology film, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, will also be in attendance at the
European celebration.

The first trailer for Bleed for This has been released online and is based on the life of five-time world boxing champion
Vinny Pazienza played by Miles Teller. The movie tracks “
The Pazmanian Devil” through his career-ending car accident and subsequent determination to make a comeback.
Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for director Clint Eastwood’s true story drama Sully. The film stars Tom Hanks as Chelsey “
Sully” Sullenberger, the “
Miracle on the Hudson” pilot who landed a disabled plane into the frigid waters of the
Hudson, saving the lives of the 155 people onboard.
The new red band trailer for Why Him has been released starring
Bryan Cranston as the patriarch of the
Flemming family who is horrified when he meets his daughter
Stephanie’s boyfriend Laird Mayhew, an internet billionaire played by
James Franco.
Within moments of arriving at
Laird’s extravagant estate, an obvious culture clash arises – pitting the no-filter lifestyle of Mayhew against the straight-edged Mr. Flemming.
