Writer and journalist U K Kumaran has been selected for this year's Vayalar Rama Varma literary award for his novel Thaks hankunnu Swa roopam, a work that depicts life in a remote village in north Malabar during the previous century ... The committee also hailed Kumaran's novel for its "relevance at national level", as it "portrayed a typical Indian village going through the freedom movement and various other social reforms"....
