The red wolf (Canis rufus/Canis lupus rufus), also known as the Florida wolf or Mississippi Valley wolf is a canid of unresolved taxonomic identity native to the eastern United States. It is generally, morphologically, an intermediate between the coyote and gray wolf, and is of a reddish, tawny color.
Red wolves were likely the first New World wolf species encountered by European colonists and were originally distributed throughout the eastern United States from the Atlantic Ocean to central Texas, and in the north from the Ohio River Valley, northern Pennsylvania and southern New York south to the Gulf of Mexico. The red wolf was nearly driven to extinction by the mid-1900s due to aggressive predator control programs, habitat destruction and extensive hybridization with coyotes. By the late 1960s, it occurred in small numbers in the Gulf Coast of western Louisiana and eastern Texas. Fourteen of these survivors were selected to be the founders of a captively bred population, which was established in the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium between 1974 and 1980. After a successful experimental relocation to Bulls Island off the coast of South Carolina in 1978, the red wolf was declared extinct in the wild in 1980 in order to proceed with restoration efforts. In 1987, the captive animals were released into North Carolina's Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, with a second release taking place two years later in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Thomas Leo Clancy, Jr. (April 12, 1947 – October 1, 2013) was an American novelist best known for his technically detailed espionage and military science storylines set during and after the Cold War. Seventeen of his novels were bestsellers, and more than 100 million copies of his books are in print. His name was also used on movie scripts written by ghost writers, non-fiction books on military subjects, and video games. He was a part-owner of the Baltimore Orioles and Vice Chairman of their Community Activities and Public Affairs committees.
Clancy's literary career began in 1984 when he sold The Hunt for Red October for $5,000. His works, The Hunt for Red October (1984), Patriot Games (1987), Clear and Present Danger (1989), and The Sum of All Fears (1991), have been turned into commercially successful films with actors Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine all playing Clancy's most famous fictional character Jack Ryan, while his second most famous character, John Clark, has been played by actors Willem Dafoe and Liev Schreiber. Clancy died on October 1, 2013, of an undisclosed illness.

Plot: Nine years after the Massacre of Wounded Knee, the Lakota people on Pine Ridge Reservation are on a precipice. Set amongst the stunning and unique beauty of the Badlands, West of Thunder sees a complex character, Henry Seed, arrive in a South Dakota town on the outskirts of the newly created reservation. When eerie and inexplicable events, closely akin to the horrors that had been visited upon the Lakota people in recent years, begin to occur in the western town, everything seems to point to the newest resident, Henry Seed. Questions abound as to whether Seed is some sort of supernatural demon seeking retribution and revenge or if there is a more simple explanation for each of the occurrences. While Seed's arrival may seem to have provided an opportunity for revenge for the Lakota, the respected Lakota spiritual leader, Little Thunder, has a more far-seeing response. As the Lakota people face and adapt to their new circumstances, Little Thunder envisions the consequences of taking the path of revenge or maintaining the integrity of their inclusive traditional values and the interconnected circles of all mankind.

Plot: A friendly Indian, Red Wolf is entrusted by a dying settler, killed by white renegades, to take his baby boy. When the boy is five, Red Wolf turns him over to Frank Clark, the Wolfville Indian Agent, to make certain he will be with his own race and receive a white man's education. The boy, Jack Jennings grows up and is given a commission as Inspector of the Indian Agency, and is in love with Clark's daughter, Mary. He is kept busy fighting the outlaws who are stealing furs from his Indian friends. The gang leader, Al Pierce, has a fight with saloon owner Butch Weldon, organizer and brains behind the fur-theft gang, over the favors of dance hall queen Peggy Packard, and Al threatens to reveal the gang's entire operation to Jack unless Butch keeps away from Peggy. Killing two birds with one stone, Butch kills Al and frames Jack for the murder. Jack is jailed. Jack escapes when the revenge-seeking Peggy shoots at him and misses as he is being taken to the County Seat to get away from a Weldon-led lynch mob. Jack returns, disguised as an Indian who hates Red Wolf, and involves Weldon in a fur robbery scheme in order to trap him and clear his own name. A posse is riding after the tricked fur thieves, with Peggy in the lead intent on shooting Jack, who she still thinks killed her lover. Red Wolf, making Weldon think he is trying to help him escape, talks him into changing clothes with Jack.

Genres: Western,When I look at you all I can see
Is the shadow of your life
You see this stage is a mirror
You can see me
But I can't see past its light
Lovers have tried to reach down inside
I only said that they were wrong
But when all I've got left is me and my pride
I realize you can't buy love with a song
So somebody take me out of the night
Show me what life is made of
Won't somebody reach inside of my heart
I think that I'm ready to love
I think that I'm ready to love
I feel like I'm ready to love
Well a lesson that's learned too late is a crime
I can't stand the pain of what could have been
Oh it's such a shame there's no one to blame
But no one knows what I have seen
What do you see when you look at me
Do I really seem so far away
But the song will go on
And you will applaud
And look at me I'll just keep singing
Somebody take me out of the night
Show me what life is made of
Won't somebody reach inside of my heart
I think that I'm ready to love
I think that I'm ready to love
I feel like I'm ready to love
Oh show me what life's made of
Somebody please reach inside of my heart
I think that I'm ready to love
I think that I'm ready to love
