Without a doubt, death has always been something that appeals to the living and even more so, if it involves characters that have been adored in life. The Taj Mahal, ordered to be built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, in order to serve as a tomb to store the remains of his wife Mumtaz Mahal in India. It was started to be built in 1632 and it took over 20 years to be finished. It has been one of the wonders of the world, and besides of being one of the most beautiful mausoleums, is one of the largest in the world. The Giza Pyramids, located on the outskirts of Cairo, are one of the Seven Wonders of the World. They are, all the remains and legacies by the ancient Egyptians, the most magnificent and symbolic monuments of this civilization, and in particular, the three Great Pyramids of Giza are the tombs or cenotaphs of the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, whose construction dates back to the Old Kingdom of Egypt. The Mausoleum Antaturk is an impressive mausoleum dedicated to Ataturk, father of the Republic of Turkey, even though he was not very keen on ostentatious displays. The Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is in Nanjing city, capital of Jiangsu province in the People's Republic of China. It was built by architect Lu Yanzhi on the slope of Purple Mountain, between 1926 and 1929. In the Mao Zedong Mausoleum you will find the tomb of the well-know Chinese President of the Communist Party from 1943 until his death in 1976, whose remains are exhibited to the public. At present, is a very popular attraction situated in Tiananmen Square, in Beijing. In the Monastery of Saint Lawrence of El Escorial are buried all the Spanish Kings from Charles V, except two: Fhilip V, who opted for the Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso to be buried next to his second wife, Isabel of Farnesio, and his son Fernando VI, who was buried by his wish in The Royal Salesas, which he founded with his wife, Barbara of Braganza. Lenin Mausoleum is also known as Lenin's tomb. It was raised by orders of the Sovietic Government after his death in 1924. His embalmed body is on public display since then.
