The Sopranos, a television drama series created by David Chase, premiered on the premium television channel HBO in the United States on January 10, 1999, and ended on June 10, 2007. The series consists of a total of 86 episodes over six seasons. Each episode is approximately 50 minutes long. The first five seasons each consist of thirteen episodes, and the sixth season twenty-one.
HBO broadcast the sixth season in two parts. The first twelve episodes ran from March to June 2006, and the remaining nine episodes ran from April to June 2007. HBO also released the two parts of the sixth season as separate DVD box sets. This effectively turns the second part into a short seventh season, though the show's producers and HBO don't describe it as such. All six seasons are available on DVD in Regions 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Unlike most broadcast and cable networks that put their television programs on a four-month hiatus between seasons, The Sopranos took longer hiatuses between seasons. Season four, for example, premiered sixteen months after the third season finale, and the sixth season returned almost two years after the end of season five.
James Joseph Gandolfini, Jr. (September 18, 1961 – June 19, 2013) was an American actor and producer.
Gandolfini was known for his role as Tony Soprano, an Italian American Mafia boss, in the HBO series The Sopranos. He garnered enormous praise for this performance, winning three Emmy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and one Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series. His other notable roles included mob henchman Virgil in True Romance (1993), enforcer and stuntman Bear in Get Shorty (1995), impulsive "Wild Thing" Carol in Where the Wild Things Are (2009), and Albert in Enough Said (2013).
After finishing The Sopranos, Gandolfini produced the documentary Alive Day Memories: Home from Iraq (2007), in which he interviewed injured Iraq War veterans. His second documentary, Wartorn: 1861–2010 (2010), analyzed the impact of posttraumatic stress disorder on soldiers and families throughout several wars in American history from 1861 to 2010.
Gandolfini was born in Westwood, New Jersey. His mother, Santa (née Penna), was a high school lunch lady who was born in the United States of Italian ancestry and raised in Naples. His father, James Joseph Gandolfini, Sr., was a native of Borgo Val di Taro who worked as a bricklayer and cement mason and later the head janitor at Paramus Catholic High School in New Jersey. James Sr. earned a Purple Heart in World War II. Gandolfini's parents were devout Roman Catholics and spoke Italian at home; due to the influence of his parents, he developed a strong sense of Italian American identity and visited Italy regularly. He had two sisters.
Edith "Edie" Falco (/ˈiːdi ˈfælkoʊ/; born July 5, 1963) is an American television, film, and stage actress, known for her roles as Diane Whittlesey in the HBO series Oz (1997–2000), as Carmela Soprano on the HBO series The Sopranos (1999–2007), and as the titular character of the Showtime series Nurse Jackie (2009–2015).
Falco was born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Judith Anderson, an actress, and Frank Falco, a jazz drummer who later worked for an advertising agency. Her father was of Italian descent and her mother's ancestry was Swedish and English. Falco's siblings are Joseph, Paul, and Ruth. Her uncle is novelist, playwright, and poet Edward Falco, an English professor at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
From the age of four, she was raised on Long Island, moving with her family to Hicksville, followed by North Babylon, then West Islip. As a child she acted in plays at the Arena Players Repertory Theater in East Farmingdale, where her mother also performed.

One of the greatest shows on Earth. I've created a Best of The Sopranos video from 86 episodes that aired over 6 seasons. I wanted to keep my tribute to under 2 hours long. So that's approx 4,300 minutes cut to 112 minutes. That was a challenge.
I OWN NOTHING. Funny moments of the hit TV show, The Sopranos. RIP James Gandolfini

I loved the Richie Aprile character, and the performance by David Proval is timeless. This season also revolves around Big Pussy being a mole. LIKE. SHARE. SUBSCRIBE. 5/5. My binge on The Sopranos continues, 3 more seasons remain! This season saw an awesome new character in Ralph Cifaretto, played by the awesome Joe Pantoliano, and it also featured one of my favorite episodes of any series. Pine Barrens. Another talking point for me was the really good handling of Meadow's character and the dark turn it took with Dr.Melfi. Again, this show is brilliant. We owe so much of the beautiful world of television we live in today to The Sopranos. Enjoy!

LIKE. SHARE. SUBSCRIBE. 5/5 The Sopranos Season 4. The biggest fight on this show happened, and didn't involve any gunfire at all. It was between Tony and Carmela, and it features some of the best and most realistic acting I've ever seen revolving around a breakup. Also Joe Pantoliano's Ralphie meets his demise, and Christopher's character finally gets an arc and purpose. 2 more seasons left people. Enjoy!
Contains what is arguably Tony's best malapropism ever.
