A transistor is a semiconductor device used to amplify or switch electronic signals and electrical power. It is composed of semiconductor material with at least three terminals for connection to an external circuit. A voltage or current applied to one pair of the transistor's terminals changes the current through another pair of terminals. Because the controlled (output) power can be higher than the controlling (input) power, a transistor can amplify a signal. Today, some transistors are packaged individually, but many more are found embedded in integrated circuits.
The transistor is the fundamental building block of modern electronic devices, and is ubiquitous in modern electronic systems. First conceived by Julius Lilienfeld in 1926 and practically implemented in 1947 by American physicists John Bardeen, Walter Brattain, and William Shockley, the transistor revolutionized the field of electronics, and paved the way for smaller and cheaper radios, calculators, and computers, among other things. The transistor is on the list of IEEE milestones in electronics, and the inventors were jointly awarded the 1956 Nobel Prize in Physics for their achievement.

Plot: In this East German teen musical, a group of girls are planning to take their summer vacation together on the Baltic coast. When a loud and obnoxious group of boys intrudes on their holiday, the girls are horrified to learn that the boys have the same vacations plans as them. The two groups quarrel with each other and compete over a number of things, but gradually an attraction starts to form.

Our lives depend on this device. When I mentioned to people that I was doing a video on transistors, they would say "as in a transistor radio?" Yes! That's exactly what I mean, but it goes so much deeper than that. After the transistor was invented in 1947 one of the first available consumer technologies it was applied to was radios, so they could be made portable and higher quality. Hence the line in 'Brown-eyed Girl' - "going down to the old mine with a transistor radio." But more important to our lives today, the transistor made possible the microcomputer revolution, and hence the Internet, and also TVs, mobile ...

And I saw you coming through
Talking to my eyes
Asking me how old are you
All to my surprise
I thought I had seen you before
Somewhere in my dreams
Now it is happening all
Bright stars all it seems
I call you my friend you call me lover
I hope we can trust one another
We should tell the world the way we feel
Let them be jealous
Let them name it what they will
Love is changing my face
Happiness complete
Looking through my broken past
You is all I need
An inevitably pretty smile
I can no longer ignore
You said you’d give me everything
But I want more
I call you my friend you call me lover
I hope we can trust one another
We should tell the world the way we feel
Let them be jealous
Let them name it what they will
