Nixon is a 1995 American biographical film directed by Oliver Stone for Cinergi Pictures that tells the story of the political and personal life of United States President Richard Nixon, played by Anthony Hopkins.
The film portrays Nixon as a complex and, in many respects, admirable, though deeply flawed, person. Nixon begins with a disclaimer that the film is "an attempt to understand the truth [...] based on numerous public sources and on an incomplete historical record."
The cast includes Joan Allen, Annabeth Gish, Marley Shelton, Powers Boothe, J. T. Walsh, E. G. Marshall, James Woods, Paul Sorvino, Bob Hoskins, Larry Hagman, and David Hyde Pierce, plus cameos by Ed Harris, Joanna Going, and political figures such as President Bill Clinton in TV footage from the Nixon funeral service.
This was Stone's second of three films about the American presidency, made four years after JFK about the assassination of John F. Kennedy and followed thirteen years later by W., the story of George W. Bush.

Richard Milhous Nixon (January 9, 1913 – April 22, 1994) was the 37th President of the United States, serving from 1969 to 1974 when he became the only U.S. president to resign the office. Nixon had previously served as a U.S. Representative and Senator from California and as the 36th Vice President of the United States from 1953 to 1961.
Nixon was born in Yorba Linda, California. After completing his undergraduate studies at Whittier College, he graduated from Duke University School of Law in 1937 and returned to California to practice law. He and his wife, Pat Nixon, moved to Washington in 1942 to work for the federal government. He subsequently served on active duty in the U.S. Navy Reserve during World War II. Nixon was elected to the House of Representatives in 1946 and to the Senate in 1950. His pursuit of the Hiss Case established his reputation as a leading anti-communist, and elevated him to national prominence. He was the running mate of Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Republican Party presidential nominee in the 1952 election. Nixon served for eight years as vice president. He waged an unsuccessful presidential campaign in 1960, narrowly losing to John F. Kennedy, and lost a race for Governor of California to Pat Brown in 1962. In 1968 he ran again for the presidency and was elected when he defeated Hubert Humphrey.
Oliver Stone's talents as a director may be erratic but they shine at full strength in the richness of this scene depicting an uneasy agreement between President Richard Nixon and CIA director Richard Helms. Stone's trademark of combining aesthetic precision with playful creativity gives this scene a spinning prism-like effect, flashing light into a myriad of shadowy and suggestive areas. However the historical inaccuracy of Oliver Stone's works is often held up. My view is that watching a film is like experiencing another person's dream. A film cannot really re-create people or events. It is inherently too subjective. Stone's "dreams" make me especially curious to know more about historical figures and events and in that sense I appreciate them. I do not watch them expecting to see "wha...

This film captures a 6-minute speech by President Richard Nixon on Oct. 28, 1970, on the airport tarmac in Tallahassee, Fla. This "airport rally" was the first time Nixon ever spoke in the Florida capital. This speech came not long after the United States Senate had rejected Nixon's nominee to the Supreme Court, Judge Harold Carswell (from Tallahassee), and Nixon opens with remarks praising Carswell. The rest of this filmed speech shows President Nixon speaking about education policy, talking about school integration and equality of educational opportunities. This speech was filmed by FSU-TV, the student-run television station at Florida State University; and it was preserved by the State Library and Archives of Florida.
