Dart's blue cultivar of lesser periwinkle (Vinca minor). Vinca minor also goes by the names of dwarf periwinkle, small periwinkle, common periwinkle, myrtle, creeping myrtle, ground myrtle, running myrtle, and lesser myrtle. It is native to central and southern Europe.
Habitat
Littorina littorea is widely distributed on rocky coasts, in all except the most exposed areas, from the upper shore into the sublittoral. In sheltered conditions they can also be found in sandy or muddy habitats such as estuaries and mud-flats. The species is fairly tolerant of brackish water.

Shell solid, with 5 or 6 slightly tumid whorls; sutures shallow.
Spire prominent, pointed up to maximum height of 52 mm.
Shell smooth, especially in older specimens, but has prosocline growth lines and numerous, slight spiral ridges.
Outer lip of aperture tangential to body whorl; inner lip thick, reflected over base of columella; no spout or canal interrupts the apertural edge.
Generally black or dark grey-brown in colour, often lighter towards apex, with dark spiral lines.
Columella white.
Cephalic tentacles rather flat and broad, with many transverse black stripes.

This is a common Periwinkle snail. It is found on rocky shores. I have seen a large number of them on Kakra beach- Goa. In Goa it is called 'gule' (konkani). It feeds on sea weeds. I thought of uploading this video since I was searching info on Periwinkles but couldn't get sufficient information. For anyone (like me) searching for info. on Periwinkles etc, I hope this helps you. :-)

Common periwinkle
The common periwinkle or winkle (Littorina littorea) is a species of small edible sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc that has gills and an operculum, and is classified within the family Littorinidae, the periwinkles.
This is a robust intertidal species with a dark and sometimes banded shell. It is native to the rocky shores of the northeastern, and introduced to the northwestern, Atlantic Ocean.
Description
The shell is broadly ovate, thick, and sharply pointed except when eroded. The shell contains six to seven whorls with some fine threads and wrinkles. The color is variable from grayish to gray-brown, often with dark spiral bands. The base of the columella is white. The shell lacks an umbilicus. The white outer lip is sometimes checkered with brown patches. The inside of the shell has a chocolate-brown color.
The width of the shell ranges from 10 to 12 mm at maturity, with an average length of 16–38 mm.
Shell height can reach up to 30 mm, 43 mm or 52 mm.
As a result of its robust nature, Littorina littorea can be highly variable in phenotype with several different morphs present. Its phenotypic variations may be indicative of a speciation event, as opposed to phenotypic plasticity. This is of particular importance to evolutionary biology, as it presents the possible opportunity to view a transitional phase in the evolutionary life of an organism.

Vinca minor (common names lesser periwinkle or dwarf periwinkle) is a species of flowering plant native to central and southern Europe, from Portugal and France north to the Netherlands and the Baltic States, east to the Caucasus, and also southwestern Asia in Turkey. Other vernacular names used in cultivation include small periwinkle, common periwinkle, and sometimes in the United States, myrtle or creeping myrtle. although this is misleading, as the name myrtle normally refers to the Myrtus species. Vinca minor is a trailing, viny subshrub, spreading along the ground and rooting along the stems to form large clonal colonies and occasionally scrambling up to 40 centimetres high but never twining or climbing. The leaves are evergreen, opposite, 2--4.5 centimetres long and 1--2.5 centimetres broad, glossy dark green with a leathery texture and an entire margin. The flowers are solitary in the leaf axils and are produced mainly from early spring to mid summer but with a few flowers still produced into the autumn; they are violet-purple (pale purple or white in some cultivated selections), 2--3 centimetres diameter, with a five-lobed corolla. The fruit is a pair of follicles 2.5 centimetres long, containing numerous seeds. Vinca minor contains more than 50 alkaloids, and vincamine is the molecule responsible for Vinca's nootropic activity. I thought of uploading this video since I was searching info on Periwinkles but couldn't get sufficient information. For anyone (like me) searching for info. on Periwinkles etc, I hope this helps you. :-)
