Allison Nicole Orvin (28) was murdered by her stranged husband, Damon Bamberg, in January 2008. That type of crime is not too uncommon, unfortunately. What stands out in this story, though, is how that happened.
Among other reasons, Nikki and Damon had divorced because of his unhealthy relationship with his controlling mother, Sonya, who lived with them. On the night of the murder, Nikki met with Damon and Sonya in a parking lot to drop the two children of the couple, who’d be spending a few days with their father. There was an argument and she drove away.
Damon followed Nikki in his car and started shooting at her. The woman was on the phone with her father and when she realized what was happening, she pulled over, trying to escape, but that gave Damon the chance to approach and kill her.
Laurie is being stalked by the shape, Dr. Loomis is searching for Michael Meyers in Haddonfield, and Annie and her boyfriend run into trouble.

Sandy Potter carried a scrapbook filled with police reports, photos, written notations and newspaper articles about James Otis Sims.
Since 1979 when they dated briefly, Sims had been making Potter's life a nightmare. His concocted story about her hiring a hit man to kill her husband was only the most recent form of harassment. He had, among other things, beaten her, slashed her car tires, followed her to work and called her home incessantly.
She was so frustrated, she considered allowing Sims to beat her again, so the police would arrest him for assault.
"There was nothing I could do," Sandy Potter said. "I was going around and around with police departments until that day I walked into Mike Proctor's office."
The Duck listened.
He knew California had a new anti-stalking law, but he had never read it. Over the next several months, he began becoming an expert in stalking. He developed a protocol for conducting a stalking investigation and writing a profile of a stalker.
Sims became the first person in Orange County to be convicted under the law.
The law (it has since gotten tougher) didn't have harsh penalties. Sims did some jail time, then later was issued an order prohibiting him from being within 10 miles of Sandy Potter. Sims, a 6-foot-3, good-looking, sweet-talking man, moved back to his home in Alabama ... where he had committed several crimes and was on probation.
The Potters were relieved, but they shouldn't have been.
By the mid-1990s, the Duck was still working the occasional homicide, but mostly he was working on stalking cases. He says one in 12 women and one in 45 men are stalked in their lifetimes. He suddenly had as many cases as he could handle.
One day in 1995, the Duck took his two young sons to a park in Garden Grove. When they were leaving, he saw Sims pass in front of him. He called out "Sims," but the notorious stalker didn't turn. The Duck told his boys to sit in the car - they were disappointed they couldn't help him arrest the bad guy - while he called the police.
That park was six miles from Sandy Potter's home, a violation of the restraining order. Several police cars arrived at the scene.
A handcuffed Sims finally realized it was the Duck who had spotted him.
"OK, Proctor, which car do you want me to get in?" Sims asked.
"HOW TO STOP A STALKER"
The Duck retired from fulltime duty in 1996. He began consulting with agencies all over the United States about stalking laws. He opened a consulting firm, Duck Works, and gives advice to victims, police and prosecutors. He also has written a book, "How to Stop a Stalker," that details how to prevent, catch and prosecute a stalker.
Recently, he has been working with the Omaha police, trying to lobby the Nebraska Legislature to get the penalty for one of their stalking statutes changed from a misdemeanor to a felony.
In 2000, the Duck got a phone call from the Tuscaloosa, Ala. police. James Otis Sims and an accomplice had killed a man whose house they had been living in.
In 2002, the Duck and Sandy Potter each testified at Sims' trial. He was convicted and given consecutive life sentences.
Potter is convinced that if the Duck hadn't intervened, Sims would have killed her.
"If I didn't get Mike Proctor's attention, I wouldn't be here today," Potter said.
She is still happily married to Ronol. They have two adopted children, who, she said, they never would have adopted without the confidence that Proctor could save their family from Sims.
Sandy Potter calls Proctor her "guardian angel." Everyone else just calls him the Duck.

He had, among other things, beaten her, slashed her car tires, followed her to work and called her home incessantly.
She was so frustrated, she considered allowing Sims to beat her again, so the police would arrest him for assault.
"There was nothing I could do," Sandy Potter said. "I was going around and around with police departments until that day I walked into Mike Proctor's office."
The Duck listened.
He knew California had a new anti-stalking law, but he had never read it. Over the next several months, he began becoming an expert in stalking. He developed a protocol for conducting a stalking investigation and writing a profile of a stalker.
Sims became the first person in Orange County to be convicted under the law.
The law (it has since gotten tougher) didn't have harsh penalties. Sims did some jail time, then later was issued an order prohibiting him from being within 10 miles of Sandy Potter. Sims, a 6-foot-3, good-looking, sweet-talking man, moved back to his home in Alabama ... where he had committed several crimes and was on probation.
The Potters were relieved, but they shouldn't have been.
By the mid-1990s, the Duck was still working the occasional homicide, but mostly he was working on stalking cases. He says one in 12 women and one in 45 men are stalked in their lifetimes. He suddenly had as many cases as he could handle.
One day in 1995, the Duck took his two young sons to a park in Garden Grove. When they were leaving, he saw Sims pass in front of him. He called out "Sims," but the notorious stalker didn't turn. The Duck told his boys to sit in the car - they were disappointed they couldn't help him arrest the bad guy - while he called the police.
That park was six miles from Sandy Potter's home, a violation of the restraining order. Several police cars arrived at the scene.
A handcuffed Sims finally realized it was the Duck who had spotted him.
"OK, Proctor, which car do you want me to get in?" Sims asked.
"HOW TO STOP A STALKER"
The Duck retired from fulltime duty in 1996. He began consulting with agencies all over the United States about stalking laws. He opened a consulting firm, Duck Works, and gives advice to victims, police and prosecutors. He also has written a book, "How to Stop a Stalker," that details how to prevent, catch and prosecute a stalker.
Recently, he has been working with the Omaha police, trying to lobby the Nebraska Legislature to get the penalty for one of their stalking statutes changed from a misdemeanor to a felony.
In 2000, the Duck got a phone call from the Tuscaloosa, Ala. police. James Otis Sims and an accomplice had killed a man whose house they had been living in.
In 2002, the Duck and Sandy Potter each testified at Sims' trial. He was convicted and given consecutive life sentences.
Potter is convinced that if the Duck hadn't intervened, Sims would have killed her.
"If I didn't get Mike Proctor's attention, I wouldn't be here today," Potter said.
She is still happily married to Ronol. They have two adopted children, who, she said, they never would have adopted without the confidence that Proctor could save their family from Sims.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Movie Titles
As a great fan of the H2G2 world this project was meant to be a tribute to the amazing work of Douglas Adams. Taking inspiration from the ironic mood of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and from the characteristic animations of the movie the decision was to show iconic objects and characters from the series. The titles run showing a story not told in the series itself, the travel of the dolphins escaping from a condemned planet Earth. Characters and titles interact creating a unique storytelling during the whole clip. When it comes to Bhutanese food, ezay, which is any kind of Bhutanese chili sauce, is something I learned to love from my first day in Bhutan. Every Bhutanese makes their own version of ezay, using a selection of different ingredients. Not two ezays are the same. At Aum Leki Wangmo Farmhouse, the mother there made some amazing Bhutanese chili sauce and I had a chance to watch her make it. Dry chilies, oil, sichuan pepper, tree tomato, ginger, salt, and cheese were a few of the main ingredients she added to her recipe.
Kuenphen Restaurant - On the drive from Punakha to Phobjikha Valley, we stopped for lunch along the bumpy and beautiful road. We ordered shakam datshi, sikam datshi and chilly chicken. The food was alright, but not as good at the home cooked Bhutanese food at home stays in Bhutan. Total price - 640 BTN ($9.60)
Phobjikha Valley - Phobjikha Valley is one of the most beautiful places to visit when you travel to Bhutan. It’s a secluded valley, high in the mountains. We checked into Pasang Zangmo Farmstay. The aunty and her family here were awesome, and she’s known for her cooking throughout all of Phobjikha Valley. I loved walking around their house, exploring the area and seeing black necked cranes (which migrate from Tibet). Our Bhutanese food dinner was delicious.

On Day 13 of our Bhutan travel and food trip, we drove from Thimphu to Punakha.
Dochula Pass - On the drive from Thimphu to Punakha, you’ll pass through Dochula Pass, a beautiful mountain pass. Although it was foggy, there were still great views and it had an almost eerie feel to it.
Punakha Dzong - A Dzong is the center of government, administration, and religion in every district of Bhutan, and one of the most famous places to visit in Punakha is the local Dzong. Unfortunately they don’t allow any video inside the dzong, but the views from outside were still spectacular.
Punakha Suspension Bridge - This bridge was a little scary to cross, but the beauty was amazing.
Yak Herder’s Camp - Food and Lodging - For lunch we stopped at Yak Herder’s camp, there weren’t too many food options in this area of Bhutan. The food was alright, we mostly ate Indian food. Total price - 655 BTN ($9.83) for 3
Aum Leki Wangmo Farmhouse - For the night we checked into Aum Leki Wangmo Farmhouse a secluded home stay high up in the mountains. It was dark when we arrived, but it was beautiful. We had a home cooked Bhutanese food meal for dinner.

Last month, I went to Germany alone. I entered the country as lonely as a solo traveler could be. I ate alone, drank alone, and walked alone. But along the way, I met people, made new friends and rekindled old ones. By the time I left the country, I was no longer alone.
I had the opportunity to be hosted by several German friends around the country, I partied with them, drink with them, and hung out with them. I experienced the alternative culture in Berlin. I lost my bag in Cologne (http://blog.bucketlistly.com/post/132467427542/bag-stolen-germany-cologne). I celebrated my Birthday with a Pool match and a rap battle concert in Dresden. It was a hell of a ride.
As the saying goes, "Happiness is only real when shared". We, humans are social animals. No matter how independent we are, at the end of the day, we need our friends.. and good friends are everywhere if you know where to find them.

Completed in 2000, this huge Ferris wheel is nearly 122 meters tall, and carries 32 gondolas. Each gondola holds approximately 25 passengers.
It takes 30 minutes for the London Eye to complete one revolution. In this time, it provides sweeping views across the city, and surrounding countryside up to 25 miles away.
The London Eye is open from 10am and operates well into the evening. Tickets are available from the attraction itself. However, because the London Eye welcomes more than three million visitors a year, it's wise to book tickets in advance.

As a great fan of the H2G2 world this project was meant to be a tribute to the amazing work of Douglas Adams.
Taking inspiration from the ironic mood of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and from the characteristic animations of the movie the decision was to show iconic objects and characters from the series.
The titles run showing a story not told in the series itself, the travel of the dolphins escaping from a condemned planet Earth.
Characters and titles interact creating a unique storytelling during the whole clip.

Among other reasons, Nikki and Damon had divorced because of his unhealthy relationship with his controlling mother, Sonya, who lived with them. On the night of the murder, Nikki met with Damon and Sonya in a parking lot to drop the two children of the couple, who’d be spending a few days with their father. There was an argument and she drove away.
Damon followed Nikki in his car and started shooting at her. The woman was on the phone with her father and when she realized what was happening, she pulled over, trying to escape, but that gave Damon the chance to approach and kill her.

Sandy Potter carried a scrapbook filled with police reports, photos, written notations and newspaper articles about James Otis Sims.
Since 1979 when they dated briefly, Sims had been making Potter's life a nightmare. His concocted story about her hiring a hit man to kill her husband was only the most recent form of harassment. He had, among other things, beaten her, slashed her car tires, followed her to work and called her home incessantly.
She was so frustrated, she considered allowing Sims to beat her again, so the police would arrest him for assault.
"There was nothing I could do," Sandy Potter said. "I was going around and around with police departments until that day I walked into Mike Proctor's office."
The Duck listened.
He knew California had a new anti-stalking law, but he had never read it. Over the next several months, he began becoming an expert in stalking. He developed a protocol for conducting a stalking investigation and writing a profile of a stalker.
Sims became the first person in Orange County to be convicted under the law.
The law (it has since gotten tougher) didn't have harsh penalties. Sims did some jail time, then later was issued an order prohibiting him from being within 10 miles of Sandy Potter. Sims, a 6-foot-3, good-looking, sweet-talking man, moved back to his home in Alabama ... where he had committed several crimes and was on probation.
The Potters were relieved, but they shouldn't have been.
By the mid-1990s, the Duck was still working the occasional homicide, but mostly he was working on stalking cases. He says one in 12 women and one in 45 men are stalked in their lifetimes. He suddenly had as many cases as he could handle.
One day in 1995, the Duck took his two young sons to a park in Garden Grove. When they were leaving, he saw Sims pass in front of him. He called out "Sims," but the notorious stalker didn't turn. The Duck told his boys to sit in the car - they were disappointed they couldn't help him arrest the bad guy - while he called the police.
That park was six miles from Sandy Potter's home, a violation of the restraining order. Several police cars arrived at the scene.
A handcuffed Sims finally realized it was the Duck who had spotted him.
"OK, Proctor, which car do you want me to get in?" Sims asked.
"HOW TO STOP A STALKER"
The Duck retired from fulltime duty in 1996. He began consulting with agencies all over the United States about stalking laws. He opened a consulting firm, Duck Works, and gives advice to victims, police and prosecutors. He also has written a book, "How to Stop a Stalker," that details how to prevent, catch and prosecute a stalker.
Recently, he has been working with the Omaha police, trying to lobby the Nebraska Legislature to get the penalty for one of their stalking statutes changed from a misdemeanor to a felony.
In 2000, the Duck got a phone call from the Tuscaloosa, Ala. police. James Otis Sims and an accomplice had killed a man whose house they had been living in.
In 2002, the Duck and Sandy Potter each testified at Sims' trial. He was convicted and given consecutive life sentences.
Potter is convinced that if the Duck hadn't intervened, Sims would have killed her.
"If I didn't get Mike Proctor's attention, I wouldn't be here today," Potter said.
She is still happily married to Ronol. They have two adopted children, who, she said, they never would have adopted without the confidence that Proctor could save their family from Sims.
Sandy Potter calls Proctor her "guardian angel." Everyone else just calls him the Duck.
