Andrew is the English form of a given name common in many countries. In the 1990s it was among the top ten most popular names for boys in English-speaking countries. In Italian, the equivalent to "Andrew" is "Andrea", though "Andrea" is feminine in most other languages. "Andrew" is frequently shortened to "Andy" or "Drew". The word is derived from the Greek: Ανδρέας, Andreas, itself related to Ancient Greek: ἀνήρ/ἀνδρός aner/andros, "man" (as opposed to "woman"), thus meaning "manly" and, as consequence, "strong", "courageous", and "warrior". In the King James Bible, the Greek "Ἀνδρέας" is translated as Andrew.
In 2000, the name Andrew was the second most popular name in Australia. In 1999, it was the 19th most common name, while in 1940, it was the 31st most common name. Andrew was the first most popular boys name in the Northern Territory in 2003 to 2015 and continuing. In Victoria, Andrew was the first most popular name for a boy in the 1970s.
Andrew was the 20th most popular name chosen for male infants in 2005. Andrew was the 16th most popular name for infants in British Columbia in 2004, the 17th most popular name in 2003, and the 19th most popular name in 2002. In 2001, it was the 18th most common name. From 1999 – 2003, Andrew was the sixth most often chosen name for a boy.
William Shakespeare (/ˈʃeɪkspɪər/;26 April 1564 (baptised) – 23 April 1616) was an English poet, playwright, and actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet, and the "Bard of Avon". His extant works, including collaborations, consist of approximately 38 plays,154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and a few other verses, some of uncertain authorship. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.
Shakespeare was born and brought up in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, with whom he had three children: Susanna, and twins Hamnet and Judith. Sometime between 1585 and 1592, he began a successful career in London as an actor, writer, and part-owner of a playing company called the Lord Chamberlain's Men, later known as the King's Men. He appears to have retired to Stratford around 1613, at age 49, where he died three years later. Few records of Shakespeare's private life survive, which has stimulated considerable speculation about such matters as his physical appearance, sexuality, and religious beliefs, and whether the works attributed to him were written by others.

Made to facilitate Jaques' speech, this performance is more an audition piece than a true depiction of the scene from which it comes. Camera: Kenneth James Sound: Nadia La Edit: Andrew Cullimore Special thanks to The Stage Door Bar and The Palace Theatre. AS YOU LIKE IT, ACT II SCENE VII JAQUES: All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts, His acts being seven ages. At first the infant, Mewling and puking in the nurse’s arms. Then the whining schoolboy with his satchel And shining morning face, creeping like snail Unwillingly to school. And then the lover, Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier, Full of strange oaths and bearded l...

A beautiful production featuring Shelly's masterpiece. Love’s Philosophy The fountains mingle with the river And the rivers with the ocean, The winds of heaven mix for ever With a sweet emotion; Nothing in the world is single; All things by a law divine In one spirit meet and mingle. Why not I with thine?— See the mountains kiss high heaven And the waves clasp one another; No sister-flower would be forgiven If it disdained its brother; And the sunlight clasps the earth And the moonbeams kiss the sea: What is all this sweet work worth If thou kiss not me? Rehearsing a rehearsal was the metatheatrical concept behind this short creation. It was a week of researching the tech available to us. We wanted to fully explore the mic's on board the Canon 650D and 500D whilst we save for a decent field mic, such as the Zoom H5. The conclusion, as expected, simply not up to the job.

Beginning with Hippocrates (born around 460 BC) many thinkers had noted the patterns and stages of the human life cycle. Initially these were merely based on biological changes; later psychosocial and spiritual cycles were noted. In today’s homily, I look at what the poets (Wordsworth and Shakespeare) had to say, what developmental psychology (Erik Erikson) had to say, what religions (Hinduism and Roman Catholicism) had to say, and what Jesus had to say on this topic. I end with two models of my own - a simple three-stage model and a more complex 18-stage model. About Fr. Seán ÓLaoire, PhD Fr. March 28, 2013 rehearsal & investigation of Shakespeare's sonnet 15. When I consider every thing that grows Holds in perfection but a little moment, That this huge stage presenteth nought but shows Whereon the stars in secret influence comment; When I perceive that men as plants increase, Cheered and cheque'd even by the self-same sky, Vaunt in their youthful sap, at height decrease, And wear their brave state out of memory; Then the conceit of this inconstant stay Sets you most rich in youth before my sight, Where wasteful Time debateth with Decay, To change your day of youth to sullied night; And all in war with Time for love of you, As he takes from you, I engraft you new.

In this video we learn about the concept of the aubade, and all about John Donne, the two phases of his life, and his use of the conceit, especially his tendency to combine sex and religious imagery. The flea is kind of a weird poem which uses the metaphore of an insect bite for sex to show that sex is not serious. We have a discussion of the concept of the “little death” and it's possible meanings. We move on to Holy Sonnet 10 but first we have to explain the conventions of sonnets including the difference between English and Italian sonnets and some of the history of the sonnet. I mention my dislike of Shakespeare which leads to a digression about Lovecraft and the academic attitude towards Lord of the Rings. We discuss how the speaker of the poem equates himself to a fortified town a...
