House dust mite
The house dust mite (HDM) is a cosmopolitan pyroglyphid that lives in human habitation. Dust mites feed on organic detritus, such as flakes of shed human skin, and flourish in the stable environment of dwellings. House dust mites are a common cause of asthma and allergic symptoms worldwide. The mite's gut contains potent digestive enzymes (notably proteases) that persist in their feces and are major inducers of allergic reactions such as wheezing. The mite's exoskeleton can also contribute to allergic reactions. The European house dust mite (Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus) and the American house dust mite (Dermatophagoides farinae) are two different species, but are not necessarily confined to Europe or North America; a third species Euroglyphus maynei also occurs widely. Unlike scabies mites or skin follicle mites, house dust mites do not burrow under the skin and are not parasitic.
Description
House dust mites, due to their very small size and translucent bodies, are barely visible to the unaided eye. A typical house dust mite measures 0.2–0.3 millimetres (0.008–0.012 in) in length. For accurate identification, one needs at least 10× magnification. The body of the house dust mite has a striated cuticle.

What is a dust mite allergy? I'm Dr. Manan Shah, I'm an ENT and allergist with Wyndly Health. Dust mites are little creatures that are found everywhere. Everyone's house has them. It's not about whether your house is clean or dirty. Everyone has them. They live in the soft things in your house, like your pillowcases, like your bedsheets, like your carpets, and like your couch.
Unfortunately, some people start to get an allergy to them and they actually get an allergy to their poop, which is kind of gross. Anyways, if you have an allergy to dust mites, you're going to notice you're having congestion and runny nose and watery eyes year-round. And when that happens, it's not just in the spring, it's literally in the winter or anytime you're inside.

Dust mites are microscopic insects that live in our pillows mattresses and box-spring.
To limit your exposure to dust mites, follow all these tips.
First, buy allergy covers for your mattress, box-spring, and all the pillows on your bed. Look for words like "allergy cover" or "allergy proof."
Wash your sheets, blankets, and other linens in hot water weekly. To kill the dust mites, the water should be at least 130 degrees F.
If you have stuffed animals, make sure to hot wash them regularly. If it can't be washed, place it in a plastic bag in the freezer for 24 hours. Freezing it will kill the dust mites.
Remember to vacuum the bedroom floor at least once a week and get rid of clutter.
If redecorating, choose hard flooring instead of carpeting and blinds instead of drapes for window coverings.You should not sleep on carpeted floors or plush furniture regularly, because they are full of dust mites.
Dust mites thrive when humidity is over 50%. If your bedroom is damp or humid, get a dehumidifier.

House dust mite
The house dust mite (HDM) is a cosmopolitan pyroglyphid that lives in human habitation. Dust mites feed on organic detritus, such as flakes of shed human skin, and flourish in the stable environment of dwellings. House dust mites are a common cause of asthma and allergic symptoms worldwide. The mite's gut contains potent digestive enzymes (notably proteases) that persist in their feces and are major inducers of allergic reactions such as wheezing. The mite's exoskeleton can also contribute to allergic reactions. The European house dust mite (Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus) and the American house dust mite (Dermatophagoides farinae) are two different species, but are not necessarily confined to Europe or North America; a third species Euroglyphus maynei also occurs widely. Unlike scabies mites or skin follicle mites, house dust mites do not burrow under the skin and are not parasitic.
Description
House dust mites, due to their very small size and translucent bodies, are barely visible to the unaided eye. A typical house dust mite measures 0.2–0.3 millimetres (0.008–0.012 in) in length. For accurate identification, one needs at least 10× magnification. The body of the house dust mite has a striated cuticle.
