We urge LTA to reconsider the alignment of the CRL. MacRitchie Forest is ecologically rich and is one of the last strongholds of Singapore's native forest flora and fauna. The following are the main reasons why developmental works should be kept out of MacRitchie Forest, and form the basis of this movement: 1. Irreplaceable habitat and biodiversity - Once impacted, these mature and unique ecosystems will never be the same. 2. Forest fragmentation - Extensive openings in the canopy change the physical conditions in the forest and prevent animals from moving around freely. 3. Convention on Biological Diversity - As a signatory, Singapore is obliged to take measures to conserve its Protected Areas. 4. A Nature Reserve is a Nature Reserve - It should be used for its intended purpose only. 5. Alternatives are available - CRL does not have to tunnel through MacRitchie!
