The resultant bulge leads the Moon by a few degrees, causing a net effect which is boosting the Moon's orbit while slowing the Earth's rotation (due to conservation of energy)
Note: The rotation of the Earth has been slowed in relation to the Moon's orbit in this animation. The tidal bulge was also greatly exaggerated for visibility. The blue and red rods don't actually exist, they just aid in visualizing the rotational elements~

No Bulging of Oceans at the Equator
"According to the official story, the Earth is spinning near 1,000 mph at the equator and slows down to less than 100 mph at the poles. Gravity supposedly holds all of the water on the Earth which also magically offsets the stronger centripetal force of the Earth’s spin. But even with the gravity excuse, why haven’t the oceans noticeably flowed towards the equator where the spin of the Earth is the fastest, creating a giant bulge of ocean water? Gravity would seemingly have to include the magical abilities of keeping the oceans spherical even where the centripetal force increases ten fold from the poles to the equator. It’s just common sense, water could not be spherically uniform on the Earth because the spin at the equator must be much faster and so water would have to flow towards the equator and away from the poles. This does not happen. Also, shouldn’t lava under the surface do the same and bulge at the equator over the alleged hundreds of millions of years of creation? Official “science” now seems to argue that Earth is “pear-shaped” or an “oblate spheroid” but that also seems contradictory when you look at the fake photographs of the Earth from space that always show a perfect sphere."

In this video I demonstrate how to calculate the "bulge" created by the curve of the earth between two points on the surface. Earth bulge is a term used in telecommunications. It refers to the circular segment of earth profile which blocks off long distance communications.
Distance to horizon
Assuming a perfect sphere with no terrain irregularity, the distance to horizon from a high altitude transmitter (i.e. line of sight) can readily be calculated.
Let R be the radius of Earth and h be the altitude of a telecommunication station. Line of sight distance d of this station is given by the Pythagorean theorem;
Since the altitude of the station is much less than the radius of the Earth,
The mean radius of the earth is about 6,378 kilometres (3,963 mi). (See Earth radius) Using the same units for both the altitude of the station and the radius of the earth,
If the height is given in m. and distance in km.
If the height is given in ft. and the distance in miles,
The actual service range
The above analysis doesn’t take the effect of atmosphere on the propagation path of the RF signals into consideration. In fact, the RF signals don’t propagate in straight lines. Because of the canalizing effects of atmospheric layers, the propagation paths are somewhat curved. Thus, the maximum service range of the station, is not equal to the line of sight distance. Usually a factor k is used in the equation above

Earth

I wouldn't say that the Moon is getting closer to the Sun, specifically, though--it is getting farther from the Earth, so, when it's in the part of its orbit closest to the Sun, it's closer, but when it's in the part of its orbit farthest from the Sun, it's farther away.
The reason for the increase is that the Moon raises tides on the Earth. Because the side of the Earth that faces the Moon is closer, it feels a stronger pull of gravity than the center of the Earth. Similarly, the part of the Earth facing away from the Moon feels less gravity than the center of the Earth. This effect stretches the Earth a bit, making it a little bit oblong. We call the parts that stick out "tidal bulges." The actual solid body of the Earth is distorted a few centimeters, but the most noticable effect is the tides raised on the ocean.
Now, all mass exerts a gravitational force, and the tidal bulges on the Earth exert a gravitational pull on the Moon. Because the Earth rotates faster (once every 24 hours) than the Moon orbits (once every 27.3 days) the bulge tries to "speed up" the Moon, and pull it ahead in its orbit. The Moon is also pulling back on the tidal bulge of the Earth, slowing the Earth's rotation. Tidal friction, caused by the movement of the tidal bulge around the Earth, takes energy out of the Earth and puts it into the Moon's orbit, making the Moon's orbit bigger (but, a bit pardoxically, the Moon actually moves slower!).
The Earth's rotation is slowing down because of this. One hundred years from now, the day will be 2 milliseconds longer than it is now.
This same process took place billions of years ago--but the Moon was slowed down by the tides raised on it by the Earth. That's why the Moon always keeps the same face pointed toward the Earth. Because the Earth is so much larger than the Moon, this process, called tidal locking, took place very quickly, in a few tens of millions of years.
Many physicists considered the effects of tides on the Earth-Moon system. However, George Howard Darwin (Charles Darwin's son) was the first person to work out, in a mathematical way, how the Moon's orbit would evolve due to tidal friction, in the late 19th century. He is usually credited with the invention of the modern theory of tidal evolution.
So that's where the idea came from, but how was it first measured? The answer is quite complicated, but I've tried to give the best answer I can, based on a little research into the history of the question.
There are three ways for us to actually measure the effects of tidal friction.
* Measure the change in the length of the lunar month over time.
This can be accomplished by examining the thickness of tidal deposits preserved in rocks, called tidal rhythmites, which can be billions of years old, although measurements only exist for rhythmites that are 900 million years old. As far as I can find (I am not a geologist!) these measurements have only been done since the early 90's.
* Measure the change in the distance between the Earth and the Moon.
This is accomplished in modern times by bouncing lasers off reflectors left on the surface of the Moon by the Apollo astronauts. Less accurate measurements were obtained in the early 70's.
* Measure the change in the rotational period of the Earth over time.
Nowadays, the rotation of the Earth is measured using the Very Long Baseline Interferometry, a technique using many radio telescopes a great distance apart. With VLBI, the positions of quasars (tiny, distant, radio-bright objects) can be measured very accuarately. Since the rotating Earth carries the antennas along, these measurements can tell us the rotation speed of the Earth very accurately.
However, the change in the Earth's rotational period was first measured using eclipses, of all things. Astronomers who studied the timing of eclipses over many centuries found that the Moon seemed to be accelerating in its orbit, but what was actually happening was the the Earth's rotation was slowing down. The effect was first noticed by Edmund Halley in 1695, and first measured by Richard Dunthorne in 1748--though neither one really understood what they were seeing. I think this is the earliest discovery of the effect.

Afraid that she could also lose little Josephine, her grandmother took her to many spiritualists in an attempt to seek protection from death.
At school, she used to be the best student as there was a giant woman who used to give her tutoring and mentorship on how to carry out her assignments. During her seamstress training, a giant spiritual woman would appear to her in dream and guide her through. Little did the world around her know that beyond her excellence and exterior was a spiritual giantess mother. This won her admiration by all. This propelled her into establishing a reputable fashion business. In her business, she used to receive instruction and money both spiritually and physically on how to go about her business. Her business flourished.
Many times, in her dream, the giant woman would appear to her and tell her that it was time for her to return to their kingdom.
The spirit gave her serious spirit of anger that nearly destroy her marriage. Anytime she saw her husband, she hated him to the core. Her husband turned to be her biggest enemy. There was no longer affection for his husband.
As if it was not enough, the spirit also destroyed her business. One day, when she woke up in the morning, out of the blue, she sold all the equipment for her business and drove all her workers away. She literally shut her business down. Her husband tried to help her by establishing a new business for her but everything did not work as it was supposed to.
One day, her husband watched Emmanuel TV and prayed along with Prophet T.B. Joshua. From this point, breakthrough started coming to their lives. That night, she had a dream. In her dream, someone told her to pray for mercy. From that dream, she understood that their breakthrough would not come from the direction where they had headed.
On one occasion, her husband had given the sum of 10.4 million naira to someone who was a fraudster for business. Since then, things went spiraling down.
Finally, they decided to come to The SCOAN for their deliverance. Mrs Olokor started sensing the fire of the Holy Spirit. When she was receiving prayer from Prophet T.B. Joshua, all of a sudden, she lost control of herself. The spirit started manifesting as darkness had no hiding place where the light was. All she could remember was that she was delivered from the spirits that had been tormenting her for so many years. Her body became cool and she became calm as the spirit of anger left her. He told people all over the world that, he had had to tolerate his wife’s attitudes for the past 27 years, because he could not fathom the possibility of any other man on earth who could endure what his wife had subjected him to. Mrs Josephine and Mr Magistrate Olokor came to The SCOAN with their children to testify what God has done in their lives. Mrs Olokor narrated her story starting from her grandmother who gave birth to five children. All her children died, remaining only one child who apparently gave birth to Mrs Olokor at a tender age. She grew up with her grandparents. She never knew the woman, who she used to see as her elder sister, was actually her real biological mother. One day, her grandmother revealed the real story of her birth. Still grieving over the loss of all her children but one, her grandmother slept off during one of her visits to the riverside. In her dream, she saw a little girl went to the river to fetch water. When the child cried, she went to help her and wished that could be hers as she comforted her. Josephine’s mother conceived and gave birth to her. As she grew up, she used to see beautiful girls around her that nobody could not see. She felt very comfortable to be in the midst of her invisible friends.
Afraid that she could also lose little Josephine, her grandmother took her to many spiritualists in an attempt to seek protection from death.
At school, she used to be the best student as there was a giant woman who used to give her tutoring and mentorship on how to carry out her assignments. During her seamstress training, a giant spiritual woman would appear to her in dream and guide her through. Little did the world around her know that beyond her excellence and exterior was a spiritual giantess mother. This won her admiration by all. This propelled her into establishing a reputable fashion business. In her business, she used to receive instruction and money both spiritually and physically on how to go about her business. Her business flourished.
Many times, in her dream, the giant woman would appear to her and tell her that it was time for her to return to their kingdom.
The spirit gave her serious spirit of anger that nearly destroy her marriage. Anytime she saw her husband, she hated him to the core. Her husband turned to be her biggest enemy. There was no longer affection for his husband.
As if it was not enough, the spirit also destroyed her business. One day, when she woke up in the morning, out of the blue, she sold all the equipment for her business and drove all her workers away. She literally shut her business down. Her husband tried to help her by establishing a new business for her but everything did not work as it was supposed to.
One day, her husband watched Emmanuel TV and prayed along with Prophet T.B. Joshua. From this point, breakthrough started coming to their lives. That night, she had a dream. In her dream, someone told her to pray for mercy. From that dream, she understood that their breakthrough would not come from the direction where they had headed.
On one occasion, her husband had given the sum of 10.4 million naira to someone who was a fraudster for business. Since then, things went spiraling down.
Finally, they decided to come to The SCOAN for their deliverance. Mrs Olokor started sensing the fire of the Holy Spirit. When she was receiving prayer from Prophet T.B. The Black Star is currently positioned on the right side of the Libra Constellation relative to the Sun, as our planet is expected to pass behind the Sun relative to the Black Star in the third-to-fourth week of November 2017.
Year-over-year weekly seismic event values for Week 35 of the 2016 Earth Orbit Cycle relative to the Black Star are extremely low showing a sub-20 value for the 5-magnitude earthquake events and a sub-200 value for the key 2.5 to 4-magnitude indicator earthquake events with both values far below the weekly average.

The sixteen value for the 5-mag quake events represents only the second time in the last fourteen months that Earth as seen fewer than seventeen of these moderate earthquake events. This 173 value for the 2.5 to 4-mag earthquake events is the second lowest weekly number we have seen since the tectonic dynamic reset following multiple Solomon Island earthquake events that cracked the tectonic plate in two on February 6, 2013, when this weekly value was only 107. The only other week with these kinds of extremely low seismic values came in Week 34 of the 2014 Earth Orbit Cycle that look eerily similar to what we see now for Week 35 of the 2016 orbit cycle.

If the Earth stopped spinning suddenly, the atmosphere would still be in motion with the Earth's original 1100 mile per hour rotation speed at the equator. All of the land masses would be scoured clean of anything not attached to bedrock. An everyday phenomena that people rarely notice is that the Earth is spinning.
The good news is that if the Earth's rotation stopped, we wouldn't fall off. With water pushed to the poles, we could walk on land around the entire equator, but it would be a very inhospitable place, as Dr Karl Kruszelnicki explains.
We know that the rotation of the Earth is gradually slowing down. But what would happen if God, the devil or aliens suddenly and completely stopped our planet from rotating on its axis of spin? Luckily, thanks to improved knowledge about our planet, geographers can now give us the answers.
You could travel around the Earth on the equator and stay entirely on dry land—ignoring the freezing cold on the night side, and the searing heat on the day side.
Of course, if you suddenly stopped the Earth from spinning, most of our planet would rapidly become very inhospitable.
Half of the planet would almost continuously face the heat of the Sun, while half would face the cold of space.
Life could continue in a narrow twilight zone between the hot and cold halves. But this twilight zone would slowly creep around the planet over the period of a year, as the Earth did its annual orbit around the Sun.
To make it easier to work out what would happen, let's pretend the oceans don't freeze on the cold side, or evaporate on the hot side. And let's look only at centrifugal force, which should really be called centripetal force.
Over several billion years, this force, which effectively pushes outwards, has made the planet a bit fatter around the middle. So the diameter of the Earth measured through the equator is today about 21.4 kilometres more than the diameter of the Earth measured through the poles.
But this bulge in the solid Earth took billions of years to slowly develop. This is because the solid matter moved only very slowly in response to the outward force caused by the spin of the planet.
But the liquid water in the oceans is far more mobile and responsive to forces. So the Earth's spin has pushed up this liquid water to an 'abnormal' elevation of about eight kilometres.
In other words, at the equator, thanks to the spinning Earth, the water has been pushed up some eight kilometres higher than in the case of the Earth having no spin.
But today, on the entire equator, the deepest part of the oceans is only about 5.75 kilometres.
So take away the spin and you take away all water at the equator.
If the Earth were to stop spinning on its axis, gradually the oceans would migrate towards the poles from the equator. At first, only small regions of terra firma around the equator would rise out of the retreating waters.
Eventually, there would be a huge mega-continent wrapped continuously around the Earth at the equator. You could travel around the Earth on the equator and stay entirely on dry land—ignoring the freezing cold on the night side, and the searing heat on the day side.
The water that left the equatorial regions would have to go somewhere, and that 'somewhere' would be the poles. There would be two totally disconnected polar oceans on each side of the equatorial mega-continent.
In the north, Canada would be entirely underwater. And roughly following the line of the border of current-day USA and Canada, all of Greenland, as well as the northern plains of Siberia, Asia and Europe would be underwater. But Spain would mostly stay above water.

On the other side of the equator, the new southern ocean would start roughly on a line running through current-day Canberra. Africa would be joined to Madagascar, while Australia would be joined to New Guinea and Indonesia.
It turns out that the underwater basin around the South Pole is much bigger than the one around the North Pole.
So the new southern ocean would be lower. Because it's a bigger 'bowl' with a greater capacity, its sea level would be about 1.4 kilometres lower than the sea level of the new northern ocean.
Now it's not just the spin of the Earth that has given us today's eight-kilometre-high bulge of water at the equator.
The other factor is gravity. The poles are about 10 kilometres closer to the centre of the Earth than the equator, so the gravity is ever so slightly stronger at the poles.
This would be another factor drawing the water away from the equator. Our spinning Earth is in fact slowing down. Billions of years in the past, the faster-spinning Earth had a bigger bulge around the equator, and billions of years in the future, the slowed-down Earth will have a smaller bulge, and will be closer to a sphere.

I wouldn't say that the Moon is getting closer to the Sun, specifically, though--it is getting farther from the Earth, so, when it's in the part of its orbit closest to the Sun, it's closer, but when it's in the part of its orbit farthest from the Sun, it's farther away.
The reason for the increase is that the Moon raises tides on the Earth. Because the side of the Earth that faces the Moon is closer, it feels a stronger pull of gravity than the center of the Earth. Similarly, the part of the Earth facing away from the Moon feels less gravity than the center of the Earth. This effect stretches the Earth a bit, making it a little bit oblong. We call the parts that stick out "tidal bulges." The actual solid body of the Earth is distorted a few centimeters, but the most noticable effect is the tides raised on the ocean.
Now, all mass exerts a gravitational force, and the tidal bulges on the Earth exert a gravitational pull on the Moon. Because the Earth rotates faster (once every 24 hours) than the Moon orbits (once every 27.3 days) the bulge tries to "speed up" the Moon, and pull it ahead in its orbit. The Moon is also pulling back on the tidal bulge of the Earth, slowing the Earth's rotation. Tidal friction, caused by the movement of the tidal bulge around the Earth, takes energy out of the Earth and puts it into the Moon's orbit, making the Moon's orbit bigger (but, a bit pardoxically, the Moon actually moves slower!).
The Earth's rotation is slowing down because of this. One hundred years from now, the day will be 2 milliseconds longer than it is now.
This same process took place billions of years ago--but the Moon was slowed down by the tides raised on it by the Earth. That's why the Moon always keeps the same face pointed toward the Earth. Because the Earth is so much larger than the Moon, this process, called tidal locking, took place very quickly, in a few tens of millions of years.
Many physicists considered the effects of tides on the Earth-Moon system. However, George Howard Darwin (Charles Darwin's son) was the first person to work out, in a mathematical way, how the Moon's orbit would evolve due to tidal friction, in the late 19th century. He is usually credited with the invention of the modern theory of tidal evolution.
So that's where the idea came from, but how was it first measured? The answer is quite complicated, but I've tried to give the best answer I can, based on a little research into the history of the question.
There are three ways for us to actually measure the effects of tidal friction.
* Measure the change in the length of the lunar month over time.
This can be accomplished by examining the thickness of tidal deposits preserved in rocks, called tidal rhythmites, which can be billions of years old, although measurements only exist for rhythmites that are 900 million years old. With VLBI, the positions of quasars (tiny, distant, radio-bright objects) can be measured very accuarately. Since the rotating Earth carries the antennas along, these measurements can tell us the rotation speed of the Earth very accurately.
However, the change in the Earth's rotational period was first measured using eclipses, of all things. Astronomers who studied the timing of eclipses over many centuries found that the Moon seemed to be accelerating in its orbit, but what was actually happening was the the Earth's rotation was slowing down. The effect was first noticed by Edmund Halley in 1695, and first measured by Richard Dunthorne in 1748--though neither one really understood what they were seeing. The Moon's orbit (its circular path around the Earth) is indeed getting larger, at a rate of about 3.8 centimeters per year. (The Moon's orbit has a radius of 384,000 km.) I wouldn't say that the Moon is getting closer to the Sun, specifically, though--it is getting farther from the Earth, so, when it's in the part of its orbit closest to the Sun, it's closer, but when it's in the part of its orbit farthest from the Sun, it's farther away.
The reason for the increase is that the Moon raises tides on the Earth. Because the side of the Earth that faces the Moon is closer, it feels a stronger pull of gravity than the center of the Earth. Similarly, the part of the Earth facing away from the Moon feels less gravity than the center of the Earth. This effect stretches the Earth a bit, making it a little bit oblong. We call the parts that stick out "tidal bulges." The actual solid body of the Earth is distorted a few centimeters, but the most noticable effect is the tides raised on the ocean.
Now, all mass exerts a gravitational force, and the tidal bulges on the Earth exert a gravitational pull on the Moon. Furthermore, NASA's Mars Odyssey spacecraft detected water beneath the surface covered by the red dust. No large reserve of standing water body has been found to exist because the atmospheric pressure at its surface averages just 600 Pascal.

NASA has steadfastly claimed that there is almost no atmosphere on planet Mars. If an astronaut tries to stand out on its surface without a spacesuit, he or she would surely die within a few seconds.
