Dorman Long is an engineering consultancy and equipment manufacturer for the construction of long-span bridges, power stations, refineries, offshore structures, stadia and other large building structures. Originally based in Middlesbrough, North East England, the company was a major steel producer later diversifying into bridge building. Dorman Long was once listed on the London Stock Exchange.
The company was founded by Arthur Dorman and Albert de Lande Long when they acquired West Marsh Iron Works in 1875. In the 1920s Dorman Long took over the concerns of Bell Brothers and Bolckow and Vaughan and diversified into the construction of bridges. In 1938 Ellis Hunter took over as Managing Director and he continued to lead the business until 1961.
In 1967 Dorman Long was nationalised, along with 13 other British steel-making firms, becoming subsumed into the government-owned company British Steel. In 1982 Redpath Dorman Long, the engineering part of the business, was acquired by Trafalgar House who in 1990 merged it into Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company in Darlington.
Circular Quay is a harbour in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on the northern edge of the Sydney central business district on Sydney Cove, between Bennelong Point and The Rocks. It is part of the local government area of the City of Sydney.
The Circular Quay area is a popular neighbourhood for tourism and is made up of walkways, pedestrian malls, parks and restaurants. It hosts a number of ferry quays, bus stops, and a train station. Despite its name, the waterfront at the quay is roughly square in shape.
Sydney Cove, on which Circular Quay is located, was the site of the initial landing of the First Fleet in Port Jackson on 26 January 1788. The governor's temporary canvas house was erected on the east side of the cove, while the western shore became the centre of the early settlement. It was the focal point from which the city of Sydney grew. The first wharf on the shore of Sydney Cove probably dated from around 1792. In 1802 it was replaced with a timber framed wharf called "Hospital Wharf", the first public wharf of the colony (later renamed King's Wharf and Queen's Wharf).
An opera house is a theatre building used for opera performances that consists of a stage, an orchestra pit, audience seating, and backstage facilities for costumes and set building. While some venues are constructed specifically for operas, other opera houses are part of larger performing arts centers.
The first public opera house came into existence in 1637 as the Teatro San Cassiano in Venice, Italy, in a country where opera has been popular through the centuries among ordinary people as well as wealthy patrons; it still has a large number of working opera houses. In contrast, there was no opera house in London when Henry Purcell was composing and the first opera house in Germany was built in Hamburg in 1678. Early United States opera houses served a variety of functions in towns and cities, hosting community dances, fairs, plays, and vaudeville shows as well as operas and other musical events.
In the 17th and 18th centuries, opera houses were often financed by rulers, nobles, and wealthy people who used patronage of the arts to endorse their political ambitions and social positions or prestige. With the rise of bourgeois and capitalist social forms in the 19th century, European culture moved away from its patronage system to a publicly supported system. In the 2000s, most opera and theatre companies raise funds from a combination of government and institutional grants, ticket sales, and private donations.

And I was right into Star Wars and Tron and all those kinda kids' sci-fi things."

The TTE Technical Training Group has welcomed the Member of Parliament for Redcar to officially open the latest development at its North East training centre. Ian Swales MP visited TTE's training centre in South Bank to open the recently-refurbished Dorman Long Building, which features industry-standard training equipment to support the skills development of young people in the UK and international technicians. The building was named by TTE learners in recognition of Dorman Long's significant contribution to industry. It also acknowledges the history of the TTE facility, which was originally Dorman Long's training centre on the site of its steel works.

A collaboration between Atyp & Si Begg to promote his latest album. The concept, and title of the project, are representative of how Si views his personal work, how he channels the deepest waveform generating corners of his mind into a controlled explosion of unique self expression. Breaking out of the order and patterns of everyday life, Si views his artistic musical output as his own ‘Permission to Explode’. Not a music video as such, more an experimental short intended to visually embody the sonic direction of the album. The challenge was to embrace the concept of hyper-creativity and attempt to harness this with the just the right amount of rhythm and order - It’s a tricky balance that has long been his trademark. Our approach was to marry the multi-layerd, eccentric, characterist...
Heavy Metal Revisited is a documentary currently in development: Directed by Evan Beloff, Produced by Frederic Bohbot, Dave & Denise Dorman The Simpsons, Futurama, Ren & Stimpy, Family Guy, The Venture Brothers and South Park all have something in common besides massive popularity. Their hybrid seeds were planted long ago by the wackiest most excessively erotic, sci-fi animation cult-classic of all time: Heavy Metal. Back in 1981 the sci-fi, animated fantasy world was turned on its head with the release of Heavy Metal. The first adult animated feature required a thousand animators and technicians in seven countries in an era without computer editing, email, fax machines or cell phones. Historians labeled it the last film to reflect the sensibilities of the 1970s counter-culture and it ...
