HEY DUGGEE is a new 52-part Pre-School series created by STUDIO AKA for CBEEBIES & BBC WORLDWIDE.
Devised by BAFTA winning & Oscar-nominated Director Grant Orchard, Hey Duggee is a show based around a children’s playgroup called The Squirrel Club. It’s a bit like Cubs or Beavers, but for pre-school children. Its run by a big dog called Duggee - who is a cross between a nursery school teacher and a Brown Owl or Akela (Cubs and Brownies). The Squirrel Club, is a place where kids have adventures and earn badges for their accomplishments.
There are five children who go to the Squirrel club. Their parents drop them off every day and they spend a couple of hours having fun and adventures with Duggee, in his clubhouse and outside in his fantastical world before being picked up again at the end of the show. It’s all about doing things, and Duggee likes to do a lot, and go to lots of places.
Produced entirely at STUDIO AKA, the series enlists the warmth and charm of critically acclaimed comedian Alexander Armstrong who narrates the playful series along side an outstanding cast of kids in the main roles. Come and watch HEY DUGGEE! You'll be tapping your feet to the music in no time ...

On hearing that the local playgroup at Nanstallon required new accommodation and were proposing to purchase a prefabricated, temporary building, the Directors of ARCO2 and eco-fab Ltd offered to provide a taste of an alternative by preparing designs and detailed costings of a bespoke preschool building. The resulting proposals so impressed the committee that they unanimously agreed to commission eco-fab Ltd to undertake the works following cost comparisons with other leading prefabricated, portable building suppliers. The eco-fab proposals, despite being entirely unique, site-specific, organic and substantially more sustainable were found to be more affordable by up to £4000 than the alternative portable buildings.
Planning was subsequently achieved and off-site production and on site enabling works were commenced at the beginning of October 2009. This building has the benefit of an open rural site, excellent southerly aspect and it is hoped that bids for grant funding for PV panels will be successful in due course. The building has been designed with such future possibilities in mind with installation of cable and trunking in order to make retro fitting of such panels more easy. The minimal heat load is met using a small 5kw output heat pump supplying an underfloor system. (no mains gas available). The building is finished as usual with timber from local forests and supports areas of biodiverse roofs.
The design also maximises the benefits of the rural location with views of the surrounding countryside through the south and east glazing all of which is positioned with children in mind. The building is due to be complete by the middle of January 2010.

Pre-school playgroup
A pre-school playgroup, or in everyday usage just a playgroup, is an organised group providing care and socialisation for children under five. The term is widely used in the United Kingdom. Playgroups are less formal than the pre-school education of nursery schools. They do not provide full-time care, operating for only a few hours a day during school term time, often in the mornings only. On hearing that the local playgroup at Nanstallon required new accommodation and were proposing to purchase a prefabricated, temporary building, the Directors of ARCO2 and eco-fab Ltd offered to provide a taste of an alternative by preparing designs and detailed costings of a bespoke preschool building. The resulting proposals so impressed the committee that they unanimously agreed to commission eco-fab Ltd to undertake the works following cost comparisons with other leading prefabricated, portable building suppliers. The eco-fab proposals, despite being entirely unique, site-specific, organic and substantially more sustainable were found to be more affordable by up to £4000 than the alternative portable buildings. Planning was subsequently achieved and off-site production and on site enabling works were commenced at the beginning of October 2009. This building has the benefit of an open rural site, excellent southerly aspect and it is hoped that bids for grant funding for PV panels will be successful in due course. The building has been designed with such future possibilities in mind with installation of cable and trunking in order to make retro fitting of such panels more easy. The minimal heat load is met using a small 5kw output heat pump supplying an underfloor system. (no mains gas available). The building is finished as usual with timber from local forests and supports areas of biodiverse roofs. The design also maximises the benefits of the rural location with views of the surrounding countryside through the south and east glazing all of which is positioned with children in mind. The building is due to be complete by the middle of January 2010. -

Documentation video of interactive play environment using cine film projections that had been shot by the children in the Playhouse. This project was an artist residency led by Sarah Harbridge Robinson at a pre- school playgroup. Children aged 2 to 5 years were given small cine cameras with fixed focus and exposure. The children were shown how to press the shoot button, but were deliberately not instructed to look through the eyepiece, some had prior knowledge or discovered this for themselves. Children were given complete freedom in shooting film. Four cameras were in circulation during the playgroup sessions, and each child had the opportunity to use the camera. Sound recordings were also made of several children making spoken responses to questions about the camera. The resulting films were compiled unedited into four film loops of differing lengths, these were projected simultaneously onto the wall of the building, and onto a translucent screen attached to the climbing frame so that children could go inside and see the film back projected from the other side. The sound recordings were also edited into two loop tapes which were played during the event.

24 hour charity ride for Y Diwlith
The club did a 24 hour charity ride around a 14 mile loop to raise money for a pre-school playgroup called Y Diwlith. Y Diwlith is the oldest pre-school playgroup in Wales and is situated in Maesteg. Devised by BAFTA winning & Oscar-nominated Director Grant Orchard, Hey Duggee is a show based around a children’s playgroup called The Squirrel Club. It’s a bit like Cubs or Beavers, but for pre-school children. Its run by a big dog called Duggee - who is a cross between a nursery school teacher and a Brown Owl or Akela (Cubs and Brownies). The Squirrel Club, is a place where kids have adventures and earn badges for their accomplishments.
There are five children who go to the Squirrel club. Their parents drop them off every day and they spend a couple of hours having fun and adventures with Duggee, in his clubhouse and outside in his fantastical world before being picked up again at the end of the show. It’s all about doing things, and Duggee likes to do a lot, and go to lots of places.

On hearing that the local playgroup at Nanstallon required new accommodation and were proposing to purchase a prefabricated, temporary building, the Directors of ARCO2 and eco-fab Ltd offered to provide a taste of an alternative by preparing designs and detailed costings of a bespoke preschool building. The resulting proposals so impressed the committee that they unanimously agreed to commission eco-fab Ltd to undertake the works following cost comparisons with other leading prefabricated, portable building suppliers. The eco-fab proposals, despite being entirely unique, site-specific, organic and substantially more sustainable were found to be more affordable by up to £4000 than the alternative portable buildings.
Planning was subsequently achieved and off-site production and on site enabling works were commenced at the beginning of October 2009. This building has the benefit of an open rural site, excellent southerly aspect and it is hoped that bids for grant funding for PV panels will be successful in due course. On hearing that the local playgroup at Nanstallon required new accommodation and were proposing to purchase a prefabricated, temporary building, the Directors of ARCO2 and eco-fab Ltd offered to provide a taste of an alternative by preparing designs and detailed costings of a bespoke preschool building. The resulting proposals so impressed the committee that they unanimously agreed to commission eco-fab Ltd to undertake the works following cost comparisons with other leading prefabricated, portable building suppliers. The eco-fab proposals, despite being entirely unique, site-specific, organic and substantially more sustainable were found to be more affordable by up to £4000 than the alternative portable buildings.
Planning was subsequently achieved and off-site production and on site enabling works were commenced at the beginning of October 2009. This building has the benefit of an open rural site, excellent southerly aspect and it is hoped that bids for grant funding for PV panels will be successful in due course. Documentation video of interactive play environment using cine film projections that had been shot by the children in the Playhouse.
This project was an artist residency led by Sarah Harbridge Robinson at a pre- school playgroup.
Children aged 2 to 5 years were given small cine cameras with fixed focus and exposure. The children were shown how to press the shoot button, but were deliberately not instructed to look through the eyepiece, some had prior knowledge or discovered this for themselves. Children were given complete freedom in shooting film. Four cameras were in circulation during the playgroup sessions, and each child had the opportunity to use the camera.
Sound recordings were also made of several children making spoken responses to questions about the camera. The resulting films were compiled unedited into four film loops of differing lengths, these were projected simultaneously onto the wall of the building, and onto a translucent screen attached to the climbing frame so that children could go inside and see the film back projected from the other side.
The sound recordings were also edited into two loop tapes which were played during the event.

Devised by BAFTA winning & Oscar-nominated Director Grant Orchard, Hey Duggee is a show based around a children’s playgroup called The Squirrel Club. It’s a bit like Cubs or Beavers, but for pre-school children. Its run by a big dog called Duggee - who is a cross between a nursery school teacher and a Brown Owl or Akela (Cubs and Brownies). The Squirrel Club, is a place where kids have adventures and earn badges for their accomplishments.
There are five children who go to the Squirrel club. Their parents drop them off every day and they spend a couple of hours having fun and adventures with Duggee, in his clubhouse and outside in his fantastical world before being picked up again at the end of the show. It’s all about doing things, and Duggee likes to do a lot, and go to lots of places.

On hearing that the local playgroup at Nanstallon required new accommodation and were proposing to purchase a prefabricated, temporary building, the Directors of ARCO2 and eco-fab Ltd offered to provide a taste of an alternative by preparing designs and detailed costings of a bespoke preschool building. The resulting proposals so impressed the committee that they unanimously agreed to commission eco-fab Ltd to undertake the works following cost comparisons with other leading prefabricated, portable building suppliers. The eco-fab proposals, despite being entirely unique, site-specific, organic and substantially more sustainable were found to be more affordable by up to £4000 than the alternative portable buildings.

On hearing that the local playgroup at Nanstallon required new accommodation and were proposing to purchase a prefabricated, temporary building, the Directors of ARCO2 and eco-fab Ltd offered to provide a taste of an alternative by preparing designs and detailed costings of a bespoke preschool building. The resulting proposals so impressed the committee that they unanimously agreed to commission eco-fab Ltd to undertake the works following cost comparisons with other leading prefabricated, portable building suppliers. The eco-fab proposals, despite being entirely unique, site-specific, organic and substantially more sustainable were found to be more affordable by up to £4000 than the alternative portable buildings.

This project was an artist residency led by Sarah Harbridge Robinson at a pre- school playgroup.
Children aged 2 to 5 years were given small cine cameras with fixed focus and exposure. The children were shown how to press the shoot button, but were deliberately not instructed to look through the eyepiece, some had prior knowledge or discovered this for themselves. Children were given complete freedom in shooting film. Four cameras were in circulation during the playgroup sessions, and each child had the opportunity to use the camera.
Sound recordings were also made of several children making spoken responses to questions about the camera. The resulting films were compiled unedited into four film loops of differing lengths, these were projected simultaneously onto the wall of the building, and onto a translucent screen attached to the climbing frame so that children could go inside and see the film back projected from the other side.
The sound recordings were also edited into two loop tapes which were played during the event.
