The Flag of Europe consists of a circle of 12 golden (yellow) stars on an azure background. It is the flag and emblem of both the Council of Europe (CoE) and the European Union (EU). It is termed "Flag of Europe" or "European Flag" by both organisations, intended to represent the continent as a whole, but has no legal basis beyond use by the CoE. It is also known as the "flag of the European Union", excluding its relation to the CoE, but the term "flag of the Council of Europe" is never used.
It is also often used to indicate eurozone countries, and, more loosely, to represent the continent of Europe or the countries of Europe independent of any of these institutions. The number of stars does not vary according to the member states as they are intended to represent all the peoples of Europe, even those outside the EU.
The flag was designed in 1955 for the Council of Europe as its symbol, and the CoE urged it to be adopted by other organisations. In 1985 the European Economic Community (EEC), adopted it as its own flag (having had no flag of its own before) at the initiative of the European Parliament.
The European Union (EU) is a politico-economic union of 28 member states that are located primarily in Europe. It covers an area of 4,324,782 km2, with an estimated population of over 508 million. The EU operates through a system of supranational institutions and intergovernmental-negotiated decisions by the member states. The institutions are: the European Parliament, the European Council, the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Central Bank, and the Court of Auditors. The European Parliament is elected every five years by EU citizens.
The EU has developed an internal single market through a standardised system of laws that apply in all member states. Within the Schengen Area, passport controls have been abolished. EU policies aim to ensure the free movement of people, goods, services, and capital, enact legislation in justice and home affairs, and maintain common policies on trade, agriculture, fisheries, and regional development. The monetary union was established in 1999 and came into full force in 2002. It is currently composed of 19 member states that use the euro as their legal tender.
Creative Commons (CC) is a non-profit organization devoted to expanding the range of creative works available for others to build upon legally and to share. The organization has released several copyright-licenses known as Creative Commons licenses free of charge to the public. These licenses allow creators to communicate which rights they reserve, and which rights they waive for the benefit of recipients or other creators. An easy-to-understand one-page explanation of rights, with associated visual symbols, explains the specifics of each Creative Commons license. Creative Commons licenses do not replace copyright, but are based upon it. They replace individual negotiations for specific rights between copyright owner (licensor) and licensee, which are necessary under an "all rights reserved" copyright management, with a "some rights reserved" management employing standardized licenses for re-use cases where no commercial compensation is sought by the copyright owner. The result is an agile, low-overhead and low-cost copyright-management regime, profiting both copyright owners and licensees. Wikipedia uses one of these licenses.
Wikimedia Commons (or simply Commons) is an online repository of free-use images, sound, and other media files. It is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation.
Files from Wikimedia Commons can be used across all Wikimedia projects in all languages, including Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikivoyage, Wikispecies, Wikisource, and Wikinews, or downloaded for offsite use. The repository contains over 30 million media files. In July 2013, the number of edits on Commons reached 100,000,000.
The project was proposed by Erik Möller in March 2004 and launched on September 7, 2004. A key motivation behind the setup of a central repository was the desire to reduce duplication of effort across the Wikimedia projects and languages, as the same file had to be uploaded to many different wikis separately before Commons was created.
Several sister projects (e.g. Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Spanish, Basque, Polish, Czech and Slovak Wikipedias) moved all their media content to Commons and stopped allowing local uploading. Some projects, such as the English Wikipedia, have more compliant copyright policy and allow to upload and keep files which are not acceptable at Commons, e.g. fair use images.
We all know the flag of Europe is 12 stars on a blue background. But why 12? Why blue? And hey, what does Europe need a flag for anyway? This is my first animation, so go easy on me in the comments!

Today, on 'Europe Day', we burned the EU flag outside Cork City Hall. This was a symbolic act of defiance against the disctate that has become the ahllmark of the European Union. Like other European peoples, we recognise that the EU is not a union of states on the basis of mutual benefit and EQUALITY, it is an EU for the furtherance of Corporate and Banking Monopoly controlled interests. Today we launch #Irexit, demanding a Public Debate and a Referendum on our continued membership of the EU.
Lithuanian kite masters from aitvarai.com lifted enormous European Union flag of 850 m2 up to the sky. The action took place in Krasnoarmiysk (Pokrovsk) of Doneck oblast in Ukraine. A unique technology has been used to lift up the flag, using connected kites of original construction, created by the kite masters themselves. The flag, 60 kilos in weight and 850 sqm area, was lifted to 100m height. Event was officially recognized as a record by specialists of Ukraine's National Register center. According to them, it was a World record as well, having in mind that no one ever succeeded in lifting a flag this big without any fuel usage. The most important mission of this event was to show a positive attitude towards western Europe values of Doneck region people and their wish to colaborate with...

Tens of thousands of Polish nationalists descended on Warsaw, Poland to mark the nation’s independence day. Demonstrators burned the European Union (EU) flag and banners on display compared EU membership to Soviet occupation. The rally was held under the slogan, “Poland for the Poles, Poles for Poland”, in reference to the ongoing migrant crisis. Banners read, “Great Catholic Poland” and, “Stop Islamisation” with demonstrators chanting, “God, honour, homeland”.
Topics discussed included investing the council's savings in social housing in the city, if the city's streetlights can support the CCTV cameras, and the position of Police and Crime Commissioner. There was an unreached question submitted on if the Guildhall would fly the EU flag for Europe Day.

The world today is at war. On one side is globalism/globalization, on the other is Identity. All those who value identity are thus united in common cause against the force that seeks to destroy all identities - Globalism. And Globalism, let it be made clear, is Jewish. Here at Rotherhithe beach, London, opposite Canary Wharf, watched by crowds of onlookers, British and Polish Nationalists were involved in a tense standoff with the Metropolitan Police, who were under strict orders from on high (very high) to prevent the burning of an Israeli flag. Their orders were: "Any flag can be burnt, but as soon as a single flame touches the Star of David, all demonstrators are to be arrested." So the hated EU flag was burnt instead. Let such symbolic acts inspire Patriots, Traditionalists, Ident...

There she goes with her
Nose in the air.
Funny how
Love can be.
Wonder why she
Pretends I'm not there.
Funny how
Love can be, girl.
Funny how love
Can be.
There she is with
That look in her eye.
Hasn't got time
For me.
Does she know
How it's making me cry?
Funny how love
Can be, girl.
Funny how love
Can be.
What a thing
To happen;
Life without
A friend.
What a thing
To happen;
Funny how true
Love can end.
I can see that she just doesn't care,
How can I make her see?
I'm in love and it just isn't fair.
Funny how love can be, girl,
Funny how love can be.
(vocalizing)
Funny how love can be.
