Stanley Robert "Bob" Crewe (November 12, 1930 – September 11, 2014) was an American songwriter, dancer, singer, manager, and record producer. He was known for producing, and co-writing with Bob Gaudio, a string of Top 10 singles for the Four Seasons.
As a songwriter, his most successful songs included "Silhouettes" (co-written with Frank Slay); "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Walk Like a Man", "Rag Doll", "Silence Is Golden", "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine (Anymore)", "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and "Bye, Bye, Baby" (all co-written with Gaudio); "Let's Hang On!" (written with Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell); and "My Eyes Adored You" and "Lady Marmalade" (both co-written with Kenny Nolan). He also had hit recordings with the Rays, Diane Renay, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Freddy Cannon, Lesley Gore, Oliver, Michael Jackson, Bobby Darin, Roberta Flack, Peabo Bryson, Patti LaBelle, Barry Manilow, and his own Bob Crewe Generation.

Crewe /kruː/ is a railway town and civil parish within the unitary authority area of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. The area has a population of roughly 84,000. Crewe is perhaps best known as a large railway junction and home to Crewe Works, for many years a major railway engineering facility for manufacturing and overhauling locomotives, but now much reduced in size. From 1946 until 2002 it was also the home of Rolls-Royce motor car production. The Pyms Lane factory on the west of the town now produces Bentley motor cars exclusively. Crewe is 158 miles north of London, 243 miles south of Glasgow and 35 miles south of Manchester
Although the name Creu first appears in the Domesday Book, the modern urban settlement of Crewe was not formally planned out until 1843 by Joseph Locke to consolidate the "railway colony" that had grown up since around 1840–41 in the area near to the railway junction station opened in 1837, even though it was called Crewe by many, from the start. Crewe was thus named after the railway station, rather than the other way round.

1968 - Shirley Bassey recorded and released this single written by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio in 1968. Crewe and Gaudio wrote this song both in Italian, as 'lo per Lei', and in English as 'To Give, The Reason I Live.' Frankie Valli's recording of this song was a top 40 hit for The 4 Seasons, peaking in February 1968. Shirley has recorded many songs originally written in Italian and then Re-Written with English lyrics; most of them were by her good friend and songwriter, Norman Newell. Although this particular cover did not reach the charts for Shirley, there is no doubt that most who listen to her version are simply blown away. Shirley's Italian single release included this song, and the song, 'Yes'. Shirley's UK release included 'My Love Has Two Faces' from the Movie, Deadfall. ...

Singer Songwriter Cas Greenfield plays 'Silhouettes' live in Frampton on July the 12th 2016. Cas, a prolific songwriter, often plays an impromptu cover of a favourite song or two. On this particular night Ray Noble's 'Love Is The Sweetest Thing' and L&M;'s 'I Will' were among the tunes played. Check out more of Cas on www.casimirgreenfield.com In May 1957, songwriter Bob Crewe saw a couple embracing through a windowshade as he passed on a train. He quickly set about turning the image into a song. Frank Slay, who owned the small Philadelphia record label XYZ with Crewe, added lyrics, and they soon had a complete song ready to record.[1] The story has frequently been reported that Slay heard The Rays audition for Cameo-Parkway Records, for which he worked, and immediately decided that the...

Anni-Frid Synni, Princess Reuss of Plauen (15 November 1945), widely known as Frida Lyngstad or by just the mononym Frida, is a Swedish pop and jazz singer. Born in Norway to a Norwegian mother and a German father, she grew up in Sweden and reached international stardom as a member of the pop group Abba, which has sold over 380 million albums and singles worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music artists in history. After the break-up of Abba, she continued an international solo singing career with mixed success. In 1996, Frida recorded her final album before «retiring» from music. She now focuses on environmental issues. She soon showed musical talent at a very early age, beginning in her first years at school. On Fridays, she was often asked by her teacher to sing in front of ...
Hosts Briana Phipps, Jeff Graham and Mark J Freeman discuss Jersey Boys Theatre Show. Jersey Boys is a 2005 jukebox musical with music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe, and book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice. It is presented in a documentary-style format that dramatizes the formation, success and eventual break-up of the 1960s rock 'n roll group The Four Seasons. The musical is structured as four "seasons", each narrated by a different member of the band who gives his own perspective on its history and music. Songs include "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Sherry", "December 1963 (Oh, What A Night)", "My Eyes Adored You", "Stay", "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", "Working My Way Back to You" and "Rag Doll", among others. The title refers to the fact that the members of The Four Seasons are from...

Hard to know where to start with this one. Was driving into Manhattan one day and heard an interview with Bob Gaudio of The Four Seasons, a very fine American songwriter in my opinion. He related the story of how he'd come to write "Rag Doll" back in 1965/66. Seems he was driving into Manhattan too and, when exiting the bridge, was waiting at a light (or stuck in traffic) where a very young, very cute but destitute woman was cleaning car windows. She cleaned his window and when he went to tip her found he didn't have any small bills. I believe he gave her a $20 and he said her face lit up so brightly that it just broke his heart. That moved me to want to cover this tune someday. Once out in California w/The Gone Jackals, I threw together an arrangement for this tune that was strictl...

Hoi Dominique Deze Is special Voor jou :) Lieve groetjes Rico They formed as Brian Poole & the Tremoloes (the Tremoloes being the backing group to Brian Poole, and the name soon being changed because of the spelling mistake of an Essex newspaper) influenced by Buddy Holly and The Crickets. On New Years Day, 1962, Decca, looking for a Beat group, auditioned two promising young bands: Brian Poole and the Tremeloes and a somewhat similar combo (also heavily influenced by Buddy Holly) from Liverpool called The Beatles. Decca chose Brian Poole & the Tremeloes over the Beatles. The Tremeloes proved to be a very talented band in their own right and had a successful career. Like the Beatles, the band seamlessly combined rock and roll with a variety of other genres.[citation needed] The original...
