Famous in the UK for bringing new developments in art to the attention of a mass audience, Collings’ TV documentaries and books have been described as “knowing,” “sly as a fox” and “hilariously horrible.” The international art magazine, Frieze, describes him as a “laconic, affectionately deprecating critic of both his subject and himself.” Artforum described his insiders’ guide to the art scene, Blimey! From Bohemia to Britpop: The London Artworld from Francis Bacon to Damien Hirst, as “the most popular contemporary art book ever.” The late, revered Brit art critic, David Sylvester, called him “fearless,” and when his six part series “This Is Modern Art” was aired on prime time national TV, it won a BAFTA for its combination of knowledge, humor and icy weirdness.

Organized by the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Dallas Museum of Art, and The Baltimore Museum of Art, Matisse: Painter as Sculptor was on view concurrently at the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center from January 21 through April 29, 2007, with each institution displaying different sections of the exhibition. Matisse: Painter as Sculptor was organized thematically around a core group of more than 40 of Matisse’s great sculptural masterworks, complemented with a selection of related works on paper, paintings, and original photographs of the artist at work. These integrated groupings helped to illuminate the evolution of Matisse’s sculptural ideas and creative process, and reveal the dialogue between the two-dimensional and three-dimensional in his oeuvre.

This exhibition, the first North American museum presentation of the work of Heatherwick and his studio, examines the astonishing range of Heatherwick Studio’s practice by focusing on the design concepts behind early projects such as the handbag designed for Longchamp and the rotation-molded “Spun” chairs, as well as current large architectural projects in the U.K., South Africa, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and China. Included will be such projects as the U.K. Pavilion — known as the Seed Cathedral — at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo; a distillery and visitor center for Bombay Sapphire Gin in Hampshire, England; a teaching building at Nanyang Technical University, Singapore; and a mixed use complex in Shanghai.

Opened in 2003, the Nasher Sculpture Center is a museum in Dallas, Texas that houses a collection of modern and contemporary sculpture. It is located on a 2.4-acre (9,700 m2) site adjacent to the Dallas Museum of Art in the heart of the Dallas Arts District. The mission of the Nasher is be an international focal point and catalyst for the study, installation, conservation, and appreciation of modern and contemporary sculpture.
The museum was a longtime dream of the late Raymond and Patsy Nasher (Ray was the original owner of NorthPark Center), who began collecting pre-Colombian sculpture on holidays to Mexico in the 1950s. In 1961, the couple turned to contemporary sculpture with a work by Jean Arp bought by Patsy for Raymond's birthday. They together subsequently formed a comprehensive collection of masterpieces by Harry Bertoia, Constantin Brâncuşi, Alexander Calder, Raymond Duchamp-Villon, Paul Gauguin, Willem de Kooning, Mark di Suvero, Alberto Giacometti, Barbara Hepworth, Ellsworth Kelly, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró, Henry Moore, Claes Oldenburg, Pablo Picasso, Auguste Rodin, Richard Serra, and David Smith, among others, which continues to grow and evolve.

The Nasher Sculpture Center presents Tony Cragg: Seeing Things, the first U.S. museum exhibition in nearly 20 years of the work of the award-winning, internationally-acclaimed artist. The exhibition will be on view at the Nasher Sculpture Center from September 10, 2011 to January 8, 2012. Tony Cragg: Seeing Things is presented by the Dallas Foundation. Featuring approximately 30 large- and moderately-scaled sculptures dating from 1993 to the present, the exhibition provides a rare opportunity to see and better understand the artist's work since his last U.S. museum exhibition in the United States in 1990-92. Cragg is lauded for his innovative and varied forms, which draw upon the artist's broad intellectual interests in science and literature, as well as an intuitive and emotional response to form and material. The exhibition at the Nasher Sculpture Center will survey the artist's great scope and variety of the artist's work. In addition, the exhibition will include a selection of drawings, integral to the artist's method and rarely seen in this country. Arrayed throughout the Nasher Sculpture Center, the exhibition will occupy much of the interior galleries and garden, as well as engage the public on the sidewalk in front of the Nasher. The exhibition will be accompanied by a lavishly illustrated catalogue featuring a new scholarly essay by Nasher curator Jed Morse. -

On Sunday, April 26, 2015, the Nasher Sculpture Center, along with Co-Chairs Courtney and Jeff Sinelli and Meredith Land Moore and Xan Moore, hosted the third-annual The Great Create: By Artists. For Kids. This sold-out family fundraiser welcomed over 500 kids and adults into the Nasher garden as they celebrated youth art education and appreciation with a fun-filled afternoon. Over $130,000 was raised, the most the annual fundraiser has ever brought in, with all proceeds from the event directly benefiting the Nasher Sculpture Center. The third installment of this event included an impressive list of contemporary artists that worked directly with the children in attendance, including The Color Condition (Marianne Newsom and Sunny Sliger), Kristen Cochran, Liz Glynn, M, Margaret Meehan, Jason Middlebrook, Francisco Moreno, Allison V. Smith, Tony Tasset, and Trans.lation (Adu Bhattarai, Rick Lowe, Cynthia Saathoff). On Sunday, April 26, 2015, the Nasher Sculpture Center, along with Co-Chairs Courtney and Jeff Sinelli and Meredith Land Moore and Xan Moore, hosted the third-annual The Great Create: By Artists. For Kids. This sold-out family fundraiser welcomed over 500 kids and adults into the Nasher garden as they celebrated youth art education and appreciation with a fun-filled afternoon. Over $130,000 was raised, the most the annual fundraiser has ever brought in, with all proceeds from the event directly benefiting the Nasher Sculpture Center. Presented September 19, 2015 Italian artist Giuseppe Penone has played an integral role in the development of art over the past five decades. From his conceptual and performative works of the 1960s and 70s to the large-scale sculptural installations of the past 10 years, Penone has explored intimate, sensate, and metaphysical connections with nature: carving large trees along their growth patterns to reveal the sapling contained within; elaborating the interior space of his closed hand into a large-scale sculpture that both contains his hand and enlarges the space it contains; rendering the swirling mists of his breath in the cold in tactile clay forms that contain the impression of his body. http://www.nashersculpturecenter.org/ -

Presented January 23, 2016 Known primarily as a light artist, Ann Veronica Janssens is interested in “situations of dazzlement… the persistence of vision, vertigo, saturation, speed, and exhaustion”—in other words, how the body responds to certain scientific phenomena and conditions put upon it. On Sunday, April 26, 2015, the Nasher Sculpture Center, along with Co-Chairs Courtney and Jeff Sinelli and Meredith Land Moore and Xan Moore, hosted the third-annual The Great Create: By Artists. For Kids. This sold-out family fundraiser welcomed over 500 kids and adults into the Nasher garden as they celebrated youth art education and appreciation with a fun-filled afternoon. Over $130,000 was raised, the most the annual fundraiser has ever brought in, with all proceeds from the event directly benefiting the Nasher Sculpture Center.
The third installment of this event included an impressive list of contemporary artists that worked directly with the children in attendance, including The Color Condition (Marianne Newsom and Sunny Sliger), Kristen Cochran, Liz Glynn, M, Margaret Meehan, Jason Middlebrook, Francisco Moreno, Allison V. Smith, Tony Tasset, and Trans.lation (Adu Bhattarai, Rick Lowe, Cynthia Saathoff).

Known primarily as a light artist, Ann Veronica Janssens is interested in “situations of dazzlement… the persistence of vision, vertigo, saturation, speed, and exhaustion”—in other words, how the body responds to certain scientific phenomena and conditions put upon it.
In her Nasher exhibition, the first one person museum exhibition in the United States for the Brussels-based artist, Janssens will install several sculptural works that allow viewers to encounter shifts in surface, depth, and color, challenging perception and destabilizing their sense of sight and space. Her ability to create these sensations in the body is contingent on the way light acts upon and within architecture and the sculptural objects that Janssens makes. Often, to further extend the desired effects of light’s various qualities, she creates environments in which she can test the science of the eye with the manipulation of light within the space, sometimes deploying fog to act in giving shape, as it were, to light.

Day 7 - Dallas Nasher Museum and Starbucks Hunt
Nasher's center had a Henri Matise exhibit which showed a few of his painting but really focused on his talents as a sculpture. The exhibit was amazing. While Matise's work showed obvious genius, my favorite works were from an artist named Alberto Giacometti. His style was so fascinating. From one angle the sculptures were veritably two dimensional, yet from the other the depth and realism was astonishing. I must have stared at one of his sculptures of his brother Diego for nearly 5 minutes. -

01. Dallas World Aquarium
A for-profit aquarium and zoo. Was opened in October 1992. The upper level of the aquarium is an artificial reproduction of the Orinoco Rainforest. The lower level houses aquaria featuring fish, sea anemones, coral, jellyfish, and other sea animals from around the world.
02. Dealey Plaza
The location of the assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. Was named a National Historic Landmark in 1993 to preserve Dealey Plaza, street rights-of-way, and buildings and structures by the plaza visible from the assassination site.
03. Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
A 66-acre botanical garden. A series of gardens and fountains. Among the plants and horticulture is a collection of azaleas that includes 2,400 varieties. The Dallas climate allows visitors to find flowers in bloom year round.
04. Dallas Zoo
A 106-acre (43 ha) zoo. Established in 1888, it is the oldest and largest zoological park in Texas. Home to over 2,000 animals representing 406 species. The zoo's first purchase was two deer and two mountain lions for $60 from a private seller.
05. Nasher Sculpture Center
A museum that houses one of the finest collections of modern and contemporary sculpture in the world, the Raymond and Patsy Nasher Collection, featuring more than 300 masterpieces by Calder, de Kooning, di Suvero. An urban oasis in the heart of the city.
06. Klyde Warren Park
A 5.2-acre (2.1 ha) public park. Over the Woodall Rodgers Freeway, and opened in 2012. Named for Klyde Warren, the young son of billionaire Kelcy Warren. Unlike other public parks within the city, Klyde Warren Park has operating hours from 6am to 11pm.
07. Reunion Tower
A 561 ft (171 m) observation tower and one of the most recognizable landmarks in Dallas. Was completed in 1978. The observation deck reopened October 5, 2013, just in time for the Tower's 35th anniversary.
08. Pioneer Plaza
A large public park. Contains a large sculpture and is a heavily visited tourist site. 49 bronze steers and 3 trail riders sculptures. All together the sculpture is the largest bronze monument of its kind in the world.
09. Frontiers of Flight Museum
An aerospace museum. Founded in 1988. eatures an extensive collection of aviation history artifacts and vehicles, and focuses on the history of aviation and space exploration with an emphasis on the role of the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
10. Lone Star Park
One of the premier entertainment destinations in the city. A horse racing track. Has two live racing seasons every year, The Spring Thoroughbred Season - from early April through mid-July and the Fall Meeting of Champions generally - early September through mid-November.

The Dallas Arts District, located in Downtown Dallas, is one of the largest of its kind in the United States. Covering 68 acres, the Dallas Arts District is home to some of Dallas' most significant cultural landmarks including buildings designed by four Pritzker Prize-winning architects. Our creative team was challenged to visually present in five minutes thirty years of effort by some of Dallas' leading citizens to construct one of the finest arts districts in the United States.
This piece of visual art opens with a glimpse of the artistic strength of the Dallas Black Dance Theatre, featuring dancer Jamie Thompson. The Dallas Black Dance Theatre is the oldest, continuously operating professional dance company in Dallas.
The Crow Collection of Asian Art is a permanent set of galleries dedicated to the arts and cultures of China, Japan, India and Southeast Asia.
The Dallas Museum of Art, or DMA, offers world class exhbitions and eductional opportunities. Every Thursday evening there are live jazz concerts, dinner and drinks in the cafe, and artist encounters in the Center for Creative Connections. Once a month the DMA is open until midnight with performances, concerts, readings, film screenings, tours and family programs.
The Dallas Opera performs at The Winspear Opera House at the AT&T; Performing Arts Center. We had the pleasure of capturing the essence of the Dallas Opera under the direction of Music Director Graeme Jenkins recently in this masterful visual presentation.
The Meyerson Symphony Center, designed by I.M. Pei, is a magnet for the finest artistic talent, such as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Musical Director Jaap van Zweden.
The Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre is one of the world's most innovative theatre facilities. The 12-level building features a groundbreaking design with an unprecedented "stacked," vertically organized facility that completely rethinks the traditional form of theatre. The Wyly Theatre was designed by frequent TEDxSMU speaker, Joshua Prince-Ramus, and Pritzker Prize winner Rem Koolhaas.
The Nasher Sculpture Center is one of the few institutions in the world devoted to the exhibition, study, and preservation of modern sculpture. The Sculpture Center, designed by Pritzker Prize winner Renzo Piano, is the home of the world renowned Raymond and Patsy Nasher Collection of modern and contemporary sculpture.

Nasher's center had a Henri Matise exhibit which showed a few of his painting but really focused on his talents as a sculpture. The exhibit was amazing. While Matise's work showed obvious genius, my favorite works were from an artist named Alberto Giacometti. His style was so fascinating. From one angle the sculptures were veritably two dimensional, yet from the other the depth and realism was astonishing. I must have stared at one of his sculptures of his brother Diego for nearly 5 minutes.
