Byron Bay

Byron Bay is located on the north coast of New South Wales. It is about a two hours' drive from Queensland and 10 hours' drive to Sydney with a population of around 4,959 people. The town was first called Cavvanba named by aboriginal people meaning "meeting place" and was changed to Byron Bay in 1894.

Byron Bay was part of an erosion of an ancient volcano that erupted 23 million years ago and is known for its exquisite tropical waters and warm temperatures.

Byron Bay is a small beautiful town close to subtropical rainforests. It has a reputation as a happy, relaxed, hippy, alternative town. It is a place that holds many events including, retreats, Byron bay film festival, and music festivals such as falls music festival, splendour in the grass, blues and roots music festival.

Some great bands have been produced from Byron including Parkway Drive and 50 Lions. Other notable residents of Byron bay include the Crocodile Dundee, Jack Johnson and Tommy Franklin.
