Boom Devil - Life is Album: Rumble (2000) During the 1990's producer and guitarist Mark Hawkes collaborated with producer (Dub Maestro) Syd Crossley to form 'Boom Devil'. Coming from different musical backgrounds helped to define a sound that is unique only to them. Over the years they teamed up with a variety of different vocalists to arrive at their debut album 'Rumble'. These include the wonderful 'Christine Leach' ( Baby Fox , William Orbit and co-writer of 'Ray of Light' for Madonna ), the sensuous 'Nina Perry' and 'Gez Scott'. The sound has a cinematic feel with a hint of 70's B- movie and ranges from laid back to up tempo. The title track of the album 'Rumble' achieved much acclaim on the club scene and the album was featured and loved by the late and great 'John Peel' on his rad...

This is the Crossley Engine which is located at Bourke, NSW Australia. It is cranked up and started at the same time everyday for public viewing. It is a fully restored 1923 vintage Crossley Oil fuelled Stationary Engine. Manufactured by Crossley Brothers of Manchester in England it is a fine example of the early four-stroke diesel type engine, which followed on from the steam engine era. This particular engine was originally used from 1923 to 1938 in the Sydney Power house to generate electricity for Sydney. It was later used in the Allowrie Butter Factory from 1938 to 1949 to generate electricity and then at a Narromine property from 1949 to 1964 to pump water for crop irrigation. The engine was donated in 2001 and was fully restored to working condition by Bourke Shire Council in 2002.
