Lombok is an island in West Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. It forms part of the chain of the Lesser Sunda Islands, with the Lombok Strait separating it from Bali to the west and the Alas Strait between it and Sumbawa to the east. It is roughly circular, with a "tail" (Sekotong Peninsula) to the southwest, about 70 km across and a total area of about 4,514 km² (1,825 sq mi). The provincial capital and largest city on the island is Mataram. It is somewhat similar in size and density with neighboring Bali and shares some cultural heritage, but is administratively part of Nusa Tenggara Barat along with sparsely populated Sumbawa. It is surrounded by a number of smaller islands locally called Gili.
The island was home to some 3.17 million Indonesians as recorded in the decennial 2010 census; the latest estimate (for January 2014) gives the population as 3,311,044.
Lombok is under the administration of the Governor of the province of West Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Barat). The province is administered from the provincial capital of Mataram in West Lombok.
Mount Rinjani or Gunung Rinjani is an active volcano in Indonesia on the island of Lombok. Administratively the mountain is in the Regency of North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (Indonesian: Nusa Tenggara Barat, NTB). It rises to 3,726 metres (12,224 ft), making it the second highest volcano in Indonesia.
On the top of the volcano is a 6-by-8.5-kilometre (3.7 by 5.3 mi) caldera, which is filled partially by the crater lake known as Segara Anak or Anak Laut (Child of the Sea) due to blue color of water lake as Laut (Sea). This lake is approximately 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) above sea level and estimated to be about 200 metres (660 ft) deep; the caldera also contains hot springs. Sasak tribe and Hindu people assume the lake and the mount are sacred and some religious activities are occasionally done in the two areas. On 31 October 2015, Mount Rinjani started erupting again.
Lombok is one of the Lesser Sunda Islands, a small archipelago which, from west to east, consists of Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Flores, Sumba and the Timor islands; all are located at the edge of the Australian continental shelf. Volcanoes in the area are formed due to the action of oceanic crusts and the movement of the shelf itself. Rinjani is one of at least 129 active volcanoes in Indonesia, four of which belong to the volcanoes of the Sunda Arc trench system forming part of the Pacific Ring of Fire – a section of fault lines stretching from the Western Hemisphere through Japan and South East Asia. The islands of Lombok and Sumbawa lie in the central portion of the Sunda Arc. The Sunda Arc is home to some of the world's most dangerous and explosive volcanoes. The eruption of nearby Mount Tambora on Sumbawa is known for the most violent eruption in recorded history on 15 April 1815, with a scale 7 on the VEI.
The Lesser Sunda Islands or Nusa Tenggara ("Southeastern Islands") are a group of islands in Maritime Southeast Asia, north of Australia. Together with the Greater Sunda Islands to the west they make up the Sunda Islands. The islands are part of a volcanic arc, the Sunda Arc, formed by subduction along the Sunda Trench in the Java Sea.
The main Lesser Sunda Islands are, from west to east: Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Flores, Sumba, Timor, Alor archipelago, Barat Daya Islands, and Tanimbar Islands.
The Lesser Sundas comprise many islands, most of which are part of Indonesia and are administered as the provinces of Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara and southern part of Maluku.
The eastern half of Timor is part of East Timor.
The Lesser Sunda Islands consist of two geologically distinct archipelagos. The northern archipelago, which includes Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Flores and Wetar, is volcanic in origin, a number of these, like Mount Rinjani on Lombok, are still active while others, such as Kelimutu on Flores with its three multi-coloured crater lakes, are extinct. The northern archipelago began to be formed during the Pliocene, about 15 million years ago, as a result of the collision between the Australian and the Asian plates. The islands of the southern archipelago, including Sumba, Timor and Babar, are non-volcanic and appear to belong to the Australian plate. The geology and ecology of the northern archipelago share a similar history, characteristics and processes with the southern Maluku Islands, which continue the same island arc to the east.
West Nusa Tenggara (Indonesian: Nusa Tenggara Barat – NTB) is a province of Indonesia. It comprises the western portion of the Lesser Sunda Islands, with the exception of Bali which is its own province. Mataram, on Lombok, is the capital and largest city of the province. The 2010 census recorded the population at 4,496,855; the latest estimate (for January 2014) is 4,702,389. The province's area is 19,708.79 km2. The two largest islands in the province are Lombok in the west and the larger Sumbawa island in the east.
In 1938, the Neo Municipality was formed, a self regulated area (Dutch: Zelf Bestuur Regelen). Based on the Lombok government constitution, East Indonesia Presidents' decision on 9 May 1949 No.5/Prv/49, Lombok did not contain a municipality but was an area conducted by Dutch Government. Formerly known as Sunda Kecil (Lesser Sunda), the West Nusa Tenggara Province was formed from part of the former State of East Indonesia in 1951. In 1957, the regional government was established.

https://www.expedia.com/Lombok.d11999.Destination-Travel-Guides When you arrive in Lombok, you’ll immediately see why this island in the Indonesian archipelago is lovingly called “Bali’s little sister.” Lombok is located between Bali and Sumbawa, and its easy accessibility has made it a gem of a vacation destination. The island is home to just over 3 million inhabitants, and your tour of Lombok will reveal a quiet, relaxing place to spend a getaway. You’ll realize it as soon as you step outside the island’s high-tech international terminal; once the doors close behind you, you’ll wonder if you’ve traveled back in time. Life moves a little slower in Lombok. Senggigi Beach, a resort town, is a popular home base for those who are exploring the island. From there, you can easily reach seve...

Second part of my travel video diary. In this we make it from Kuta, Bali to Padang Bai, then across the sea to Lombok, mostly unknown little brother of Bali, and we didn't get good general recommendations of Lombok but decided to go anyway. We searched our guide book and decided to go for the place that had the shortest description on the book. The place was Gili Gede, an off-the-grid island on the southwest peninsula. It was far less marketed than the Gili islands (Meno, Air and Trawangan) in northwest. The experience was a stereotypical by-the-book visit to a rural and poor area. You know energetic kids making faces, everyone smiling, someone offering something as a gift. There was no sight of the uncomfortable feeling that I had in Kuta where the interaction with locals is more about t...
Yo see, it's rare that you find people like us
'Cause ya'll the other look out there doin' what I'm doin'
Or tryin' to do what I'm doin' but you can't
'Cause I do what I do my way
What about you? Huh, huh? come on
I do
Any and everything you want to
Make your girl say, ooh, ooh
Why's he so fly
She beeps me
Whenever she wanna get freaky
You can get mad if you want too
Do whatever you want but she still gon' give it up
She likes it
My way, my way, my way
You can't satisfy her needs
She keeps runnin' back to see me do it
My way, my way
What I say goes and I'm in control
Don't check me, check me
It was your girl who let me, let me
Take it this far then, ooh wee, ooh we
She had to have every chance that she could get
But you think you a baller
And I ain't gon' call her
Clip that, you can get mad if you want to
Say whatever you want but she still gon' give it up
'Cause she likes it
My way, ooh my way
You can't satisfy her needs
She keeps runnin' back to see me do it
My way, my way
What I say goes and I'm in control
I'm standing here
Where you ought to be
Got you mad at me 'cause I got your lady
You ain't got to worry, I ain't trying to romance
All I wanna do is make her dance with me
My way, oh my way, my way
You can't satisfy her needs
She keeps runnin' back to see me do it
My way, my way
What I say goes and I'm in control
My way, my way
You can't satisfy her needs
She keeps runnin' back to see me do it
My way, my way
And what I say goes and I'm in control
My way, my way
You can't satisfy her needs
She keeps runnin' back to see me do it
My way, my way
