The Banana Splits Adventure Hour is an hour-long, packaged television variety program featuring The Banana Splits, a fictional rock band composed of four funny animal characters. The costumed hosts of the show were Fleegle (guitar, vocals), Bingo (drums, vocals), Drooper (bass, vocals) and Snorky (keyboards, effects).
The series was produced by Hanna-Barbera, and ran for 31 episodes on NBC Saturday mornings, from September 7, 1968, to September 5, 1970. The costumes and sets were designed by Sid and Marty Krofft and the series' sponsor was Kellogg's Cereals. The show featured both live action and animated segments and was Hanna-Barbera’s first foray into mixing live action with animation.
In 1967, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera approached Sid Krofft and Marty Krofft to design costumes for a television show which would feature animated and live-action segments, with the whole show hosted by a bubblegum rock group of anthropomorphic characters. The format of the show was loosely based on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. The Banana Splits Adventure Hour premiered on NBC on September 7, 1968.

I had to dump the NBC Peacock at the beginning. The glitch in the video was causing the audio to go off synch. After over a year of searching, I finally found some of the original "Banana Splits Adventure Hour" shows. If anyone has episodes of the FULL HOUR LENGTH "Banana Splits Adventure Hour" for trade or sale, please PM me. I have no season 2 episodes, and the set I did get are from early season 1 re-broadcasts with season 2 titles and all have time codes. Such a bummer that WB won't put the money into cleaning up and releasing season 1 and what exists of season 2 for us all to buy. Well ... at least they didn't release the half hour episodes of "The Banana Splits and Friends" with no extras, like in the UK, and leave it at that for the fans.

Here is a short collection of 'lost' clips from "The Banana Splits Adventure Hour." First, two skits from the second season (1969-1970). Both are "Fan Letters" segments (#9 "Trunk Of Bananas" and #11 "Zipper Banana"). This routine sort of replaced the "Dear Drooper" segment from the first season. Rounding it off is the original Season 1 show closing (1968-1969), with a circa 1971 Hanna-Barbera end logo.
There's a million reasons to love this Hanna Barbara classic, but #1 on my list are the Dilly Sisters. If you know anything more about them or what became of them, or how I can get more recordings to play on my radio show, please post a comment or send me a note.
