Joe Thomas short interview with
NBA Star Kent Benson. Definately on my bucket list
...see why.
On my "
Bucket List"...interview with NBA Star, Kent Benson.
Speaking with Kent Benson was definitely on my bucket list.
Watch the vlog and you'll understand why.
When I asked
Kent if he would shoot a video to share with the team (all of you guys), he kindly and enthusiastically agreed. Kent has been and continues to be a success. His career speaks for itself. Kent struck me as very smart, hard driving and a genuinely nice guy. I very much enjoyed our conversations. He told me of many, many people that inspired, encouraged, pushed, advised, coached and helped him. Now he does the same for others.
Kent said "
Successful people do the things that unsuccessful people don't and won't do". As he reflected on the success he had achieved he could attribute much to this simple principle.
How about you?
Think about the successes in your life. What were you doing that made the
difference?
I'll bet it was what Kent said...the things that unsuccessful people didn't and wouldn't do. Am I right?
It's true for me!
Look around you and think for just a moment...what could you be doing that would make a significant difference? It will be work and in fact, it will likely be hard and extra work. Unsuccessful people don't and won't do that!
Maybe you could form a list by identifying some folks that you know that are NOT successful and asking what it is that they don't and won't do? Maybe, you should look at the superstars and ask what is it that they do?
Either way you get a list.
Success begins when you do!
Kent had clearly thought a lot about excellence and referred to it often. He defined excellence as being the very best that you can be in everything that you do in every way that you do it.
No matter what it is that you do. I'm reading
Steve Jobs' (founder of
Apple) biography right now and you certainly get a clear idea of what
Steve focused on...excellence. Like speaking with Kent; the book reminds us that the journey IS the reward. I couldn't agree more with this thought.
Kent is working on a book of his own "
The ABC's of Success and
Excellence". I will definitely buy a copy when it's out. I wish I could have captured all of my discussions on video. Speaking with Kent left me feeling excited, motivated and eager to work harder.
Hope you do too.
Special thanks to Kent Benson.
