A "moraine" is any glacially formed accumulation of unconsolidated glacial debris that occurs in currently glaciated and formerly glaciated regions on Earth , through geomorphological processes.
Moraines may be composed of debris ranging in size from silt-sized glacial flour to large boulders. The debris is typically sub-angular to rounded in shape. Moraines may be on the glacier’s surface or deposited as piles or sheets of debris where the glacier has melted. Moraines may also occur when glacier- or iceberg-transported rocks fall into a body of water as the ice melts.
Debris was plucked off a valley floor as a glacier advanced or may have fallen off the valley walls as a result of frost wedging or landslide, when melting.
Moraines can be classified either by origin, location with respect to a glacier or former glacier, or by shape. The first approach is suitable for moraines associated with contemporary glaciers—but more difficult to apply to old moraines, which are defined by their particular morphology, since their origin is debated. Some moraine types are known only from ancient glaciers, while medial moraines of valley glaciers are poorly preserved and difficult to distinguish after the retreat or melting of the glacier.
Lateral moraines are parallel ridges of debris deposited along the sides of a glacier. The unconsolidated debris can be deposited on top of the glacier by frost shattering of the valley walls and/or from tributary streams flowing into the valley. The till is carried along the glacial margin until the glacier melts. Because lateral moraines are deposited on top of the glacier, they do not experience the postglacial erosion of the valley floor and therefore, as the glacier melts, lateral moraines are usually preserved as high ridges.
Lateral moraines stand high because they protect the ice under them from the elements, causing it to melt or sublime less than the uncovered parts of the glacier. Multiple lateral moraines may develop as the glacier advances and retreats.

Dreamy strings hook you from the word go and you would presume a calm ride was ahead, however Alaska is the master of raw breakbeats and a powerful harsh 1970's funk break appears from nowhere destroying all in it's path whilst letting the strings breath on their own to lead Moraine into an atmospheric crescendo.

Explanation: Why would the sky glow red? Aurora. Last week's solar storms, emanating mostly from active sunspot region 1402, showered particles on the Earth that excited oxygen atoms high in the Earth's atmosphere. As the excited element's electrons fell back to their ground state, they emitted a red glow. Were oxygen atoms lower in Earth's atmosphere excited, the glow would be predominantly green. Pictured above, this high red aurora is visible just above the horizon last week near Flinders, Victoria, Australia. The sky that night, however, also glowed with more familiar but more distant objects, including the central disk of our Milky Way Galaxy on the left, and the neighboring Large and Small Magellanic Cloud galaxies on the right. A time-lapse video highlighting auroras visible that night puts the picturesque scene in context. Why the sky did not also glow green remains unknown.

Moraine Lake is located in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. This was filmed in July 2014.
Banff on a budget:
Banff has many campgrounds in various places throughout the park. Campsites can run as little as under $30 per night, making Banff affordable to visit. It is about a five hour drive north of the Canadian/USA border, via Idaho. Generally speaking, just about everything else is more expensive in Canada, so it is important to bring your own food, drink, and camping gear (no fruit, veg or plant items unless they are canned). If your camera gear needs charging while there, (and you are staying in a campground), go to downtown Banff where there are camera shops where they will charge your camera batteries for a minimal fee. The Border guards do not allow weapons such as guns to be transported over the border into Canada. They do however allow bear pepper spray. It is recommended by most experts, that if you plan to hike in the outback of Banff or Jasper (farther north) that you do bring bear pepper spray. The best time of year to visit if you do not mind crowds (in the popular spots) is July and August. The second half of June can be very nice, with less crowds, but runs a slightly greater risk of rain and cloudy weather. September is the same, but Sep or June are worth the risk, if you are prepared for possible inclement weather
Oh, regarding the border, last but no least fyi, you will be required to show your passport. Don't leave home without it.

Moraine Lake is a glacially-fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 km outside the Village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6,183 feet. The lake has a surface area of .5 square km.
The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. When it is full, it reflects a distinct shade of blue. The color is due to the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis.
Filmed with a Canon EOS 650D (Rebel T4i) in August.

A "moraine" is any glacially formed accumulation of unconsolidated glacial debris that occurs in currently glaciated and formerly glaciated regions on Earth , through geomorphological processes. Moraines may be composed of debris ranging in size from silt-sized glacial flour to large boulders. The debris is typically sub-angular to rounded in shape. Moraines may be on the glacier’s surface or deposited as piles or sheets of debris where the glacier has melted. Moraines may also occur when glacier- or iceberg-transported rocks fall into a body of water as the ice melts. Campsites can run as little as under $30 per night, making Banff affordable to visit. It is about a five hour drive north of the Canadian/USA border, via Idaho. Generally speaking, just about everything else is more expensive in Canada, so it is important to bring your own food, drink, and camping gear (no fruit, veg or plant items unless they are canned). Moraine Lake, Alberta Canada
Moraine Lake is a glacially-fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 km outside the Village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6,183 feet. The lake has a surface area of .5 square km. The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. When it is full, it reflects a distinct shade of blue. The color is due to the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis. Filmed with a Canon EOS 650D (Rebel T4i) in August. -

Moraines may also occur when glacier- or iceberg-transported rocks fall into a body of water as the ice melts.
Debris was plucked off a valley floor as a glacier advanced or may have fallen off the valley walls as a result of frost wedging or landslide, when melting.
Moraines can be classified either by origin, location with respect to a glacier or former glacier, or by shape. The first approach is suitable for moraines associated with contemporary glaciers—but more difficult to apply to old moraines, which are defined by their particular morphology, since their origin is debated. Some moraine types are known only from ancient glaciers, while medial moraines of valley glaciers are poorly preserved and difficult to distinguish after the retreat or melting of the glacier.
Lateral moraines are parallel ridges of debris deposited along the sides of a glacier. The unconsolidated debris can be deposited on top of the glacier by frost shattering of the valley walls and/or from tributary streams flowing into the valley. The till is carried along the glacial margin until the glacier melts. Because lateral moraines are deposited on top of the glacier, they do not experience the postglacial erosion of the valley floor and therefore, as the glacier melts, lateral moraines are usually preserved as high ridges.
Lateral moraines stand high because they protect the ice under them from the elements, causing it to melt or sublime less than the uncovered parts of the glacier. Multiple lateral moraines may develop as the glacier advances and retreats.

Moraine is ethereal Alaska back in the hot seat. Dreamy strings hook you from the word go and you would presume a calm ride was ahead, however Alaska is the master of raw breakbeats and a powerful harsh 1970's funk break appears from nowhere destroying all in it's path whilst letting the strings breath on their own to lead Moraine into an atmospheric crescendo.
Arctic Music is proud to be the only label releasing this style of drum and bass on vinyl, flying the union jack for ambient jungle the world over.

Explanation: Why would the sky glow red? Aurora. Last week's solar storms, emanating mostly from active sunspot region 1402, showered particles on the Earth that excited oxygen atoms high in the Earth's atmosphere. As the excited element's electrons fell back to their ground state, they emitted a red glow. Were oxygen atoms lower in Earth's atmosphere excited, the glow would be predominantly green. Pictured above, this high red aurora is visible just above the horizon last week near Flinders, Victoria, Australia. The sky that night, however, also glowed with more familiar but more distant objects, including the central disk of our Milky Way Galaxy on the left, and the neighboring Large and Small Magellanic Cloud galaxies on the right. A time-lapse video highlighting auroras visible that night puts the picturesque scene in context. Why the sky did not also glow green remains unknown.

The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. When it is full, it reflects a distinct shade of blue. The color is due to the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis.
