Zeus loves to play hide and Seek with My Savannah Cat Hera. It is so fun to watch them play together. They are soooo adorable together!
Zeus is a four-year-old African serval. Zeus was bred through select breeders generations of domesticated Servals in the United States To be bred as pets. When I (Morgan) decided to own a serval I went through over two years of research, Nevada wild life department inspections, and one year of being interviewed and informed by the breeder before I was able to purchase him and have him brought to my home. When Zeus was born he had one brother. The breeder watched the kittens grow and after he noticed their personalities, informed me that he knew which serval would be best for my home. He sweet lovable personable serval kitten that in his words "knows no stranger" and would be perfect for a home with my children. Zeus was named before he even stepped foot in my home. And he was loved and cared for with more affection than you could dream possible. He is fed regularly, fresh organic raw meat with wild feline vitamin and calcium supplements. Servals are known as they grow, to bond or ‘imprint’ with their owners for life. They will never trust another human being, they will never feel more affection for any other owner. (unlike dogs and most domestic cats that will grow to love their new owners) That is why it is important to build a special trusting bond with a serval.
They tend to be illegal in most countries and states though, and it's only getting worse thanks to the 'animal rights activists' such as PETA. Groups like this are also pushing the ban of hybrid pets altogether, so Savannah and Bengal cats might end up illegal as well.
It seems ironic that the group which immediately euthanizes neally all the pets they grab, takes the moral high ground on this issue.
Still, it's quite different depending on the place you live in. In general, Savannah hybrids (even the high-percentage F1) are much easier to take care of, but even they are not permitted in many places. Sometimes only F3 or F4+ are allowed.

This is Zeus's FIRST TIME meeting a big dog! I was so proud of him and how he wasn't too scared or unfriendly. Knowing his personality, Zeus wanted to play with this boxer pup he was just nervous and unsure if he could trust that it wasnt going to hurt him. The boxer pup was very good (she is our neighbors dog) she was understanding of Zeus's space, wasn't scared of him, mean to him and wanted to play as well.

I take care of Zeus, I spend hours/days/nights/weeks/years of dedication and love and responsibility taking care of him. He is my world and I will never do him wrong. He trusts me, he loves me, and he will never trust another human being like he will me.
This is a small compilation of a few of the many many times Zeus has showed me and my family affection and love.. Servals only bond strongly to one person. I am able to do anything with him, pick him up kiss him love him cuddle with him. He loves my son and lets him play and cuddle with him but wont let him pick him up, and he loves my daughter and will let her pet him and play with him but mostly just tolerates her In this video it shows that Zeus is very loved and loving and affectionate.. but remember- servals are VERY hard to take care of and arent always the sweetest. They require a lot of attention and determination time and responsibility. They are wild animals, and will always have tendencies like wild animals do. Not just anyone can own a serval. The serval /ˈsɜːrvəl/ (Leptailurus serval) is a medium-sized African wild cat native to sub-Saharan Africa. As it is considered common and widely distributed, it has been listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List since 2002.
Results of DNA studies indicate that the serval is closely related to the African golden cat and the caracal.
Description
The serval is a medium-sized cat, measuring 59 to 92 cm (23 to 36 in) in head-body length, with a relatively short tail, 20 to 45 cm (7.9 to 17.7 in), and a shoulder height of about 54 to 66 cm (21 to 26 in). The serval is well-adapted for detecting and capturing small animals such as rodents in long grass. A strong yet slender animal, it has the longest legs of any cat, relative to body size. Most of this increase in length is due to the greatly elongated metatarsal bones in the feet. The toes are also elongated, and unusually mobile. The head is small in relation to the body. Another distinctive feature of the serval is the presence of large ears and auditory bullae in the skull, indicating a particularly acute sense of hearing. The closely set ears contain 22 muscles each, allowing them to rotate up to 180 degrees independently of each other. Weight ranges from about 7 to 12 kg (15 to 26 lb) in females, and from 9 to 18 kg (20 to 40 lb) in males.

Zeus is a four-year-old African serval. Zeus was bred through select breeders generations of domesticated Servals in the United States To be bred as pets. When I (Morgan) decided to own a serval I went through over two years of research, Nevada wild life department inspections, and one year of being interviewed and informed by the breeder before I was able to purchase him and have him brought to my home. When Zeus was born he had one brother. The breeder watched the kittens grow and after he noticed their personalities, informed me that he knew which serval would be best for my home. He sweet lovable personable serval kitten that in his words "knows no stranger" and would be perfect for a home with my children. Zeus was named before he even stepped foot in my home. And he was loved and cared for with more affection than you could dream possible. He is fed regularly, fresh organic raw meat with wild feline vitamin and calcium supplements. Servals are known as they grow, to bond or ‘imprint’ with their owners for life. They will never trust another human being, they will never feel more affection for any other owner. (unlike dogs and most domestic cats that will grow to love their new owners) That is why it is important to build a special trusting bond with a serval.
They tend to be illegal in most countries and states though, and it's only getting worse thanks to the 'animal rights activists' such as PETA. Groups like this are also pushing the ban of hybrid pets altogether, so Savannah and Bengal cats might end up illegal as well.
It seems ironic that the group which immediately euthanizes neally all the pets they grab, takes the moral high ground on this issue.
Still, it's quite different depending on the place you live in. In general, Savannah hybrids (even the high-percentage F1) are much easier to take care of, but even they are not permitted in many places. Sometimes only F3 or F4+ are allowed.

This is Zeus's FIRST TIME meeting a big dog! I was so proud of him and how he wasn't too scared or unfriendly. Knowing his personality, Zeus wanted to play with this boxer pup he was just nervous and unsure if he could trust that it wasnt going to hurt him. The boxer pup was very good (she is our neighbors dog) she was understanding of Zeus's space, wasn't scared of him, mean to him and wanted to play as well.
He is a domesticated Serval which means it is different than the Servals living in the wild in Africa. Even though these cats have the same DNA and look the same there are some differences. A Domesticated Serval has been domestically bred in captivity for multiple generations going back to the 1960's. None of the Serval cats you see in homes today were taken out of the wild. They have all been hand raised for years in loving homes. It does take a special educated open minded and patient animal person to own a Serval. A serval is a medium sized African species averaging 20-60lbs and standing 15-30 inches at the shoulder. The Serval has been domesticated for over 5000 years, the ancient Egyptians not only had these majestic cats as pets but they worshiped the serval for its grace and power. This is a highly intelligent animal and as a pet is very much dog like.

Servals DO NOT MAKE GOOD PETS. Saying they dont make good pets doesnt mean they cannot make good pets.. Servals Require much more attention devotion responsibility time and money than any domestic pet or hybrid.
A Serval is solitary by nature and will roam up to 4 square miles which it claims as its own territory. ALL Servals (male and female) SPRAY to mark their territory wether they are altered or not. So yes, they will spray your house, your whole house. Doors, walls, clothes, furniture, even you and your family. They will never use the literbox completely. Which means you will have areas in your home where the serval will relieve it self wether you try to train them not to or you put things in the way to try to get it to avoid it.
The Serval will live up to 20 years old and needs zoo-like outside/inside facilities with a large enough exercise area to run, a pool in which to swim and dive, and an area with lots of climbing possibilities. Servals will escape from anything that is not totally secure and are unlikely to return once having escaped. Servals are solitary by nature and like to travel many miles when hunting. They require a special all natural RAW diet with vitamin supplements and special health care.
Even if hand-raised and tamed, a Serval will never be a "lap cat".
Servals are only legal in 4 States and STILL require a permit and have guidelines for the size and type of cage that they need. Check with your state and local authorities.

I take care of Zeus, I spend hours/days/nights/weeks/years of dedication and love and responsibility taking care of him. He is my world and I will never do him wrong. He trusts me, he loves me, and he will never trust another human being like he will me.
This is a small compilation of a few of the many many times Zeus has showed me and my family affection and love.. Servals only bond strongly to one person. I am able to do anything with him, pick him up kiss him love him cuddle with him. He loves my son and lets him play and cuddle with him but wont let him pick him up, and he loves my daughter and will let her pet him and play with him but mostly just tolerates her In this video it shows that Zeus is very loved and loving and affectionate.. but remember- servals are VERY hard to take care of and arent always the sweetest. They require a lot of attention and determination time and responsibility. They are wild animals, and will always have tendencies like wild animals do. Not just anyone can own a serval.
